    great tutorial. when I follow along and I change the material to foliage and add the cutout transparency I get these diagonal lines going across the polycarbonate facade. Nothing makes it go away except for changing the material back to generic or getting rid of the cutout transparency. Is there a step I missed somewhere? Also, when you add a material to the cutout transparency, is it just a white square or is it something else?

    • @Modulusrender

      Hi. That's a hard topic. I use Enscape and Thea because they're well integrated in SketchUp. Enscape has tremendous speed and Thea has great photorealistic results. I guess it depends a lot on your workflow. If you use 3ds Max then these render engines are not an option.

    • @Modulusrender

      Thank you. For the polycarbonate material I guess it's easier to make it in vray. Quality depends on the scene, but vray has more accuracy and realism. Enscape has more speed and if you know haw to use it it will have better results than vray.

    This is way to complicated. He could just have used a good texture map of polycarbonate, then finish it off in photoshop. I did, and it looked way more realistic, and took way less time.
    I found that if you render an image with about 50% or more translucence, and one without any translucence, and then mix them in PS with 50% opacity on both, it looks awesome.

    • @Modulusrender
      @Modulusrender  2 года назад

      Hi Julius, every method has it's good parts and it's bad parts and it's specific to the scene. For example, I don't like to use a lot of Photoshop in my work and If I want to make an animation then I like to have everything ready in 3D. If you like to use a lot of photoshop for post than this method isn't for you. I'm sure you can get great results the way you describe it.

    • @flow_leit
      @flow_leit 2 года назад

      Well, it's your technique and maybe yes it works but i think the method of Modulus Render is way more realistic to deal with shadows and you can easily adjust lights / shadows and even color for your polycarbonate texture in just a few clic.
      One more thing, when you already setup your scene with lights and everything you only have to render all your scenes and it's done (you style can adjust some contraste / colors with PS). With your technique, you have to open each render view and then do the mix. It's a waste of time (at least in my point of view). When you have to work in a short amount of time, you can do this. Especially when the client want some changes.
      At the end of they day, when you look his final render, is really convincing.

      I think it is this one sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=44049 and once you download it, you have to copy it to you sketchup plugins folder and restart sketchup to see it under extensions tab.
