I recently moved to Dubai and I LOVE living in a muslim country. Living my best abaaya girl life and the way they celebrate Ramadan and Eid is just amazing.

Salam! i just came back from my first Umrah a month ago, and I really get where you guys are coming from. I've been wanting to go for a while, but my family haven't been able to so I was waiting, and then I decided last year that I'll go alone but with a group (an Institute that I study Qur'an at)
Now post Umrah, I'll be honest I can't believe I left it this late. I don't think I can let another year pass by except that I go at least once. I definitely get the point that it is a sunnah, and of course Hajj is fardh, so we should all be saving up for Hajj - but I don't think we need to pick between one or the other tbh. If one doesn't have a lot of disposable income, it makes sense to just save for hajj of course. But the way I see it, if we have the money to be able to splash out on holidays once in a while where we're most likely spending similar amounts of money, I really think we should be prioritising Umrah too.
And I'm not speaking about an Islamic ruling that says we can't be going on other holidays of course, but once you go for Umrah you will realise that for your own character building, your mental health, your need for direction, Umrah is needed.
The way you learn about yourself, your relationship with your ibadah, developing an intimate relationship with Allah, how to really make du;a and just being in the blessed lands will do SO much for your soul in ways that no other holiday can. And remember on Umrah you are doing types of ibadah that you have never done before, and that you can only do there! What an honour. If we can afford to go for umrah once in a while, I would really recommend it. I'm hoping to go again later this year inshaAllah as my time there was too short and felt incomplete.
And remember that the Prophet (saw) said that every time we do the Umrah, the sins we have committed since our last Umrah are forgiven.
May Allah invite you both soon! I also feel like when you're single and have less financial responsibility it's so much easier lol. I can imagine paying for your whole family must be expensive.

I was disheartened to hear of what happens in Makkah/Madinah too. SubHaanallaah if you act rashly or aggressively just to get a certain blessing/benefit, did you really attain it? The Prophet ﷺ was sent to complete good character, so may Allaah help us in following that. Also it seems Madinah is just the place to go to this year even if you've gone to Umrah before. it's interesting.
The connection between the popsong and the Ramadan tree, so ACCURATE! Amir has a good point though.
I see an extra long outro over here 👀😆
