  • It’s not every day that we get to see two classic Daimlers. It’s even more rare to see two classic Daimlers that are the same model with sequential number plates. It’s even rarer still to see two Daimlers like this that belong to a husband and wife.
That’s exactly the story behind the two latest additions to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop. Our 2 1964 Daimler V8 250s have come from a married couple who bought them in two separate purchases but ended up with two almost identical cars.

Seeing this brought back memories of when I was a child back in the sixties, one of our neighbours had a pair of Daimler V8 250s. The husband had a 1967 model in navy blue and the wife a 1964 model in gunmetal grey. Both were used every day and I can still remember the sound of that V8 as they left for work each day. They must have liked them because when they stopped using them they were prepared and laid up in the garage and were there well into the 1980's.

Very interesting and probably unique pair of cars, but surely way beyond economical prospects for restoration? Such a shame that they have been allowed to corrode in those damp lockup garages for decades. I truly hope that they can both be saved, but, if faced with either of these cars individually, I would regard them, sadly, as parts cars only. I hope that there is a buyer out there with more money than sense! I am guilty of spending far more on restoring a car than it's worth at the end of the day, and will, no doubt, do so again in the future, but this pair will swallow up a huge sum just to get them presentable and roadworthy. What price or value for the unique story? They need to stay together as a pair to sustain even that. Individually, they are, as I said, just parts cars, sad to say.

My Daimler 250 Saloon is somewhat rusty but these 2 cars are very rusty...I have the typical Mark 2 rust areas like the rocker panels and some lower door panels. Its always great to see Daimler 250 Saloon videos on RUclips...I am just starting on my car in Southern California...but if I cant finish it? I sell it to Jay Leno...lol
