    I posted this video on my facebook page and encouraged all my face book friends to write their congress person as well as the president, like I myself have already done. PLEASE do the same and save what few wild horses there are left in america.

    the government wouldn't have to pay anything if they just left them alone. there were 2 million wild horses 200 years ago and man has decimated them. they need to be free and are protected by the 1971 wild horse and burro act. the blm was created to manage the horses and land and congress was not intending that they be gathered and put in holding pens. this is outrageous and people are tired of it!

    Carol,
    It's hard to watch, knowing at this very moment what the greedy, selfish, narrow minded people at the BLM & the hired contractors are doing to the herd you so lovingly photograph. My heart and soul cry out at the injustice. Just as done to the buffalo and the native people of North America.

    Read about these Pryor Mountain mustangs: THE LAST GOOD HORSE by David Martin Anderson (novel was just released), then, you'll really understand the slaughter of these majestic creatures that took place during the 1930s.

    Conquistador was captured in that roundup, and held by the BLM for adoption. But the good news is that he went for the amazing price of 2500 dollars and was reunited with his lead mare, and lives on a sanctuary not far from his Pryor mountain stomping grounds. People with heart and a willingness to spend a little money have done a lot to right the wrongs done to these horses by the BLM. People are what creates HOPE. Never forget that. Never forget to create your own dose of HOPE.

    When I hear people talk about paying for the upkeep of these horses, my answer is that they cost the taxpayer nothing if left alone in the wild.
    Furthermore, this gather cost the US taxpayers a pretty penny. It took place over the Labor Day holiday, which means that the people involved with the BLM got double pay. Pretty nice coincidence for them.
    This gather did not need to happen, and it REALLY did not need to happen on a holiday where the contractors (already millionaires) got even richer.

    if they are put up for adoption and don't get adopted after 3 times and/or if they are over 10, the blm has to ask where they are going but if approved, the buyer gets immediate title and they can do whatever they want with them. this is due to the burns act of 2005. now, only younger horses are protected and can adopt horses but are checked on, and only get title 1 year after they prove good care.

    that's fantastic! i was worried about him. can people visit him on the sanctuary? we're going there in july. let's get the word out about the illegal fence the usfs put up, in partnership with the blm. this fence cuts the herd off from their native watering hole and subalpine meadows on the usfs land. they have migrating there every summer and fall for 205 years. cloud foundation, front range equine and carol walker are suing.

    I'm sure the man who started SHARK would be so proud of the way you are talking to me right now too. Enough with the cussing, that gets you nowhere. I don't have anything bad to say about SHARK other than it seems some of the things they do seem pretty extreme.

    this was a realy sad day in american history honestly when these horses were rounded up.
    Conquistadore should have NEVER been taken infact there realy shoulda been no horses removed from this range. How long will it be before the BLM wipes out all of our beloved wild horses :(

    Do you follow the Pryor Mountain horses or other wild horses? This is not about the behavior of the horses either, in case you didn't notice. The culling of the herd is about keeping the herd healthy and the land they live on healthy (not just for them, but other wildlife also).

  • @Turboy65
    @Turboy65 13 лет назад

    @barehorsetraining Incorrect. By federal law, the BLM can't sell mustangs to slaughter or to any kill buyer REGARDLESS of age or health. If they do that, they are in violation of federal law.

    alexadawnn-Do you not realize that there are fences already surrounding the wild mustangs in the Pryor Mountains?
    barehorsetraining-Do you own horses? If you do, did they all grow up together? Have you bought horses? How did they handle being pulled away from their "family" and all that they know?
    I'll agree that horses do form bonds between eachother, I've noticed it with my family's horses. But, to say they won't adjust is another thing.

    @ roseybglr - Why don't you do something positive? Thus far all you've offered is criticism.

    people this is done to HELP the horses, the land can only support so many horses and when there are too many for the land to support they get less food and end up STARVING. have you ever seen a starving horse? not a pretty sight, and as stated below mustangs CAN NOT go to slaughter it is illegal

  • @69mag
    @69mag 15 лет назад

    I live in Lovell, I see these horses every week, and I don't see any of you bleeding hearts out there feeding these feral bastards. They are overgrazing the range they live on, which means they need to be weeded out. The horses that are taken out are not harmed in any way. They are taken out and put up for adoption.

  • @rodeorulz15
    @rodeorulz15 15 лет назад

    No, as a matter of fact, I don't follow the Pryor Mountain horses around. I work full-time to support my family, therefore I don't have the time. I do however have the time to trust my government (BLM in this case) is doing the right thing for these horses. Also, growing up in the country and with lots of animals, I've got an ag-based idea how many animals can successfully live on the land (given grass availability and such).

  • @rodeorulz15
    @rodeorulz15 15 лет назад

    What exactly do you know about "wild" horses then? Are you a biologist that can make educated decisions like people working for the BLM? I trust that they are making the best decision for the herd and the land they are grazing on, as well as for the other wildlife they compete with in the Pryor Mountains.
    You'd be surprised as to how well rodeo horses and other animals are actually taken care of.
