I think every camera, especially high end cinema cameras, should be required to have those button sounds.
As the proud owner of an Alexa Classic, can confirm, does make animal noises.
And I checked, it also includes sexy silhouettes in the games menu. You hate to see a big company like Arri rip off its only real competition. :(
Now you're obliged to do a "Pro Photograper, Cheap Camera" challenge with that toy now, Simon. I bet you'd rock it.
Yes pleaae!
Do it #dslrguide!
1:24 “On the upside, I did find a way to turn off the button sounds. Which was a HUGE relief.” Lol great video man, that part cracked me up
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂
*boink boink boink*
Which is worse, that the company did this or that I don't even care.
How often do you see a picture of a big beefy hamburger but when the one you ordered comes it looks nothing like it. Misleading marketing pictures seem to be the norm that I really just don't care about this.
I agree with your comment. I don't really see the value in this video, especially when he simply could have made a video about using the cheap camera creatively. Instead it feels like he tried to find a way to flex his actual gear, and incite unnecessary "drama."
@@xXMr_NormalXx well said. I think a video about how to use the cheapest camera on Amazon to make a movie would be WAY better.
I think this is the state of marketing for most products unfortunately. Both Ebay and Amazon are plagued by this. But in all fairness, you have received FAR better customer service from this company than 90% of us ever would, proving an unfortunate reality. Most companies won't ever make changes in their products or advertising, unless shamed into it by someone with considerable influence.
I remember seeing this all the time in the Argos catalogue as a kid, the amount of toys i wanted because they all looked more professional than they actually were.
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, thank you. Just sold my 4 Red Raptor cameras and all my cine lenses. Bought 6 of these cameras instead and I’d never been more happy with my footage. The nostalgic feel is just WOW, especially with the baked in time stamp feature. Just shot a wedding on these cameras and my clients were thrilled with the results. I just recommend to shoot audio externally since audio is not the greatest out of camera. Loading the footage on my Mac M1 studio computer was easy and file sizes were small. Footage needs very little color correction, just threw my lut on and adjusted the exposure levels and video was ready for delivery.
P.S. Bonus tip: Sometimes you have downtime in between shots/scenes, it’s nice to be able to play some games on the camera while waiting for the bride or client. Something I will definitely miss if I’m
Shooting on a project where I’m forced to shoot on a bigger budget camera.
You r trolling aren't you
@@Casper-fu2eowym? I believed them completely?
Probably wouldn't have a market worth the joke, but would be funny if a big company made a real good camera that looks like this.
My first Digital camera that I bought 2005 had very similar picture quality.
Bet you couldn’t play games on that though
I still have some doubts on GoPro promo videos when releasing a new camera
Simon's having his Karen moment.
I don't know, there's something special about how the images look....some kind of a nostalgic lo-fi mood.
I've been subscribed for years and I never expected any video to be this funny!
I do feel like it would make for a fun found film vibe
The vast majority of things under $100 with cameras (including this, cheap quadcopters, $40 camcorders, dash cams, and so on) are all using a USB laptop webcam as the camera module. If you can see the camera part, there's a wavy circle around the chip housing and the tiny hole in the center shines pink back at you; this is the infrared hot mirror that is usually attached directly to the camera sensor on classic digital cameras and the wavy circular housing holding it is removable. The reason that everything looks jagged is because cameras of this sort tend to use the worst way of handling the mismatch between sensor resolution and video resolution: *pixel decimation,* where pixels are simply thrown out to make things match. If the webcam module is not 1080p, they might also be using *nearest neighbor interpolation* for scaling up, which is extremely computationally cheap (you literally just calculate a ratio for each axis and repeat the current source pixel until you cross an integer boundary) but also extremely ugly. That's how the original MS Paint scaled and is why it looked so awful when it wasn't a clean integer ratio of scaling.
You're basically buying the same webcam found in a new $200 laptop, paired with an embedded ARM chip that's probably less powerful than the original Raspberry Pi CPU. If you open that thing up (which I think you should do on video for science!) I'd be surprised if you didn't just have a tiny mainboard, some buttons or button boards wired up separately, and the webcam module screwed to the front of the thing...and a LOT of empty plastic shell. I bet it weighs almost nothing for such a big thing.
Ah that’s fascinating! You’re absolutely right that the camera weighs almost nothing haha
The problem is that 80% or more of products are sellers from China who use Amazon's fulfilment service.
Most of these products are things you can buy directly from AliExpress and probably have some access to certain photos they can use/tweak.
Most listings I've seen have images that are questionable or use odd stock imagery that don't make sense.
As for reviews, I guarantee most are fake reviews; they contact people to buy their products and once a 5 star review is left, they get a refund and in some cases, a commission. I know this because I get countless emails daily and it drives me up the wall lol.
The online market of digital cameras is awful. All cameras are sold as 1080p or even 4K, but some of they are actually 420p or something like that. Sometimes 420p is upscaled to 1080p, so the file is 1920x1080, but obviously the quality is not the expected.
And the problem is that you could think that cheap cameras are the ones lying, and if you buy a more expensive one, if they are marketed as 1080, it should be right, but no. A lot of announces are wrong, the seller knows it, the store knows it, but they still do false advertising.
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's definitely misleading. But if they used real images their camera took, no one would buy it. Having said that, I agree that they should change the images.
Got mine from CEX a few months ago and I love that lo-fi vibe. Everyone's on about low-res digicams but the Kids-Cam takes the biscuit!
You're still alive, Simon !!!!!!! 😀😀😀
Nice to see you again... how have you been?
OMG- this is perfect for experimental full feature films.
I can't believe people order online cameras and expect to be as good as the images they sell. If you see a pink rubbered camera with big buttons for 20 bucks.. did you really have to do all this comparisons? I hope this video is a joke because if not.. you're not that different from all those "Karens" in a wallmart..
They probably edited the photos after but used that camera and made the photos look better than the quality because of the editing on a much more hire quality gadget
I loved this idea! I think you could push it further and try shooting something on this camera, perhaps a short film or even just a series of photos? Prove that although they may have lied or stretched the truth about their product, it's still somewhat usable for children? This would've been great for me to use as a child, even if the quality isn't great: gives you a chance to focus on other things like composition.
I enjoyed this video. I bought 2 similar cameras as gifts for 2 kids last year but I never paid attention to any of these details. .. keep the videos coming and greetings to your daughter 😂
Of course they have done something wrong, but we consumers permit this kind of behaviour every second of every day and have done so for decades. When did you last see a fast food burger that looked anything like the burger photos in the ads?
Pink cheap camera = ready for making a dogma95 film
Love your serious camera reviews! Keep going ;)
I wonder if they offer a software upgrade next week, which add a pores 10 bit 4:4:4 mode...
My father bought the "adult" version of a similar camera. Yes, he was an unwitting sucker who believed what they said. Sue them... they need to be off the market- it's false advertising. Should Amazon also be sued?
So these were the cameras-lenses they would put in Nintendo's 3DS, now everything makes sense.
Blimey, at that price point literally any camera out of a charity shop would beat that hands down
PlayStations Vita device had the same misleading images. I remember being so confused as to why the images on the box looked so cinematic but the actual camera and recorder sucked. Lots of memories making cool little videos on it though.
It looks like that pirated copy of 28 Days Later I saw once. Pretty sure it had been a weird upscale that tried to sharpen the edges.
It is false advertising, it shouldn't be allowed, but nothing will change. And no, you aren't being excessive. It just might seem so because "we all" have just gotten so use to this kind of thing. :^(
4:24 "Am I judging this cheap camera too harshly? Has this company actually done anything wrong?"
The images captured by this cheap camera doesn't seem so bad to me.
However, using images from other camera to boost sales is wrong.
It's time to set limits on such kind of marketing tricks.
I’m invested now.. PART 2?!
This camera doesn't even warrant such scrutiny.
The 1080p footage looks like 480p footage blown up to 1080p.
For 18 quid that camera isn't even that bad. The camera my brother got from an airport duty free store had way worse quality and the frame rate fell off a cliff if the shot was above 240p and was slightly dim
This video was entertaining to watch, and your fictional daughter story in the email gave me a good laugh!
I bought a camera from aliexpress at 3 euro, because i knew it was really cheap and was what I was looking for. But they all do this thing of puting an high end camera photograph to sell their 360p low cost camera, obviously nobody can produce a " quality " image with that money (i mean in term of sharpness, dynamic, etc. because for me you can still produce good pictures with it)
0:00 It does have a catchy name.
Is it misleading?
Of course.
Is the camera okay considering the 20 dollars?
It is.
Actually, I kind of like the look.
Does any kid look for a 'portrait' effect?
Nope.
No one in their right mind would think they were shot from the featured camera they are selling for £18? It's a toy! but I do see the legal standpoint under misrepresentation through assumption.
Amazon should care more. If you are searching for any product the title often is something like this: "WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD internal 500 GB (for creative professionals, 1-month Adobe Creative Cloud membership, M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x 4 NVMe SSD, read up to 3,500 MB/s, dashboard)" ... and the product description is often nonsense. even "real products" feel like a scam. And the "sorting" of the product you are searching is bad. Whatever I am searching on amazon. It tooks me hours to find the thing I want. I want "non quick charge" ... impossible to find.
So much Britishness going on here 🤣 thanks for the laugh!
Nice one Simon. Advertised images should absolutely be taken with the camera.
Looks like you bought an NES emulator with an extra camera feature. Seems like a steal to me.
The big concern about this product is that it's listed as a toy, not as a camera. So, for them, anyone couldn't complain about advertising. What of course, this practice continue to be a scam.
Love the look of the video. Using your BMPCC?
I lol'd when I heard the sounds
damn i like the vhs vibe. just need more chromatic aberation
For some reason I thought your face was a mix of Edward Norton and Jordan from camera store tv
agree with you, if i were a kid, id feel hurt and angry at the results
But, as for right now, if there was a way to change the lens, why not use this for some weird music video or short film, maybe a wide filter too, maybe anamorphic filter also (Sirui 1.5x)
Is there anyway to bring back retrieve deleted photos? My granddaughter accidentally hit delete all and she is very sad and is there anyway to bring back her photos?
Good thing you called them out especially of the silhouette image
The aesthetic is crazy, what you on about?
really loved the video
Mmmm interesting, they defo should update their info. Also, I think a camera that won’t break easy is probably more important than the image quality in part but your not wrong for checking up.
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I want to see a music video shot with this little toy camera.
Yeah you should definitely sue them 😉 see how far you can take this 😜
I AM THE BEEST YOUUTUBER YOU'RE ALL TRAASH COMPARED TO ME IM THE BEEST 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Simon.
Stay on the case untill they write a disclaimer that the image was not made with the product they are selling. Keep using the words, "cheats" and "liars" when you write back. 👍
Beware leaked video! This video was scheduled for April 2023
April is 6 months away man. 😅
You got all the lighting wrong, dude!
🤣
I don’t think you’re going overboard for false advertising is false advertising. If there’s no disclaimer and you’re expecting to get the same quality that is advertised it’s on the company not the customer.
This is beautiful content
But the sound effects are the best thing about the camera!!!
This was quite an interesting video
Curios to see what the kind of gameplay the 3D block game contains 😂
But the dude speaks through Nice tutorials teeth
I feel like countless companies do this. Thus, help me understand the point here. Were you trying to expose a company for doing what a lot of others do already? Or were you trying to provide some value? Regardless, I will file this whole video under the simple lesson, "You get what you pay for".
I want to shoot a feature with it
Hi simon, i think you are overreacting. You can clearly see it's a kids toy and no one except you even noticed how nice the pic looks like and i am pretty sure no one expected quality like that for that cheap prize. I think you should focus more on your photography than going over what other people are doing.
On their part, It's not the most honest, nor is it the most dishonest. However, you been dishonest with them saying you had a daughter. You also made a video about being dishonest in the past. Now you're swooping in to stir up shit that isn't really needed. Maybe they need to be more honest, but I'm not sure that is your call. #KarenCade
I guess you just need to spend $2,000 to fix it!
lmao just trolling these customer support people so hard. All the things considered tho, feel like this cam would make a solid "low-fi" music vid c-cam if you added a big a 4:3 crop and some more retro-y goofy camcorder overlays lol
Yes! Very silly.
That was a fun video!
Can't stand those fake-ass product shots!
I hope your daughter recovers from this.😄
gonna be an interesting video, this one
Ottima complimenti📷📽👍👏
Everything on Amazon and Ebay is cheap Chinese crap.
this is so interesting... my man is beefing with this company over this stupid ass camera but i love it we need an update
Yet another chinese piece of plastic with cheap dashcam/CCTV module (that's why you can't turn off timestamp). This stuff should came with their famous 30 TB SSD drive :D
dude you are taking this way too seriously its just a kids camera
misleading presentation is the basis of modern marketing and trying to single out this company feels wrong. it would be more fair to critique 21st century capitalism at large
Simon Cade does Joe Lycett = great video. TBF for £20 - when I got my first camera 20 years ago it didn't look as good as this and cost £200... Technology changes fast.
I think my first camera that cost £70 in 201 (480p maximum resolution) was better than this haha but your point remains
🇷🇺 against war
Thanks for the video
You are not being hard on them. If anything you are being too kind.
I’m with you. I say sue them! 😆
first
It is for scenarios like this where Cancel Culture needs to take these scam artists down! #Cancelled !!!!!!!!!
