I haven't been this excited for mtg plot progression in a few years. I started playing mtg during invasion, quit, missed new phyrexia, so I'm freaking STOKED to be playing and watching this unfold. I hope they compleat every last inch of the multiverse.
The fact that the Weatherlight's completion is a footnote feels like a mistake to me. Or at least if it was going to happen it shouldn't have been in this set.
I feel the same about Ajani. What the hell, WotC. Those characters have been a part of the game since I started playing in 5th Edition at the oldest, and there’s even an entire Weatherlight _set!_
Man, Elspeth is going to be so upset. I'm still not over New Capenna saying that the knight who fought her way to Mirrodin's core is too weak to hold a longsword and giving her a magical girl rapier instead.
@@chrisb87878 it's the story of New Capenna. She gets her hand on a longsword, but it's is described as too heavy and unwieldy for her, so it gets transformed via deus ex machina into a rapier that it describes as being more suited to her. Freaking gross.
I really need them to do a story on how and when they had gotten ajani, because I have heard a lot of people saying he was a Phyrexian sleeper agent all along, but I don't see how that's possible. They could have been meaning that he was a sleeper since the start of the set story, though I think it was likely more in the 3 month span that Karn was stuck underneath the crumbled terrain of the old cave. Also I like how they had established rather early that teferi is still rather fragile dispite his chronomancy, and with how it had mentioned his aging and how the new version of impulse had a quote of him mentioning he had always used split second decisions and how he has just gotten better at making the right ones over time, I'm sensing a plot point of how the Phyrexians might complete teferi, utilizing his chronomancy to stance a stronger and more efficient grip on dominaria, and then the whole universe since a cold calculated force like the Phyrexians utilizing a master chronomancer to his maximum capacity would be a mighty force to deal with. And one last point that was left out that I feel might become highly relevant is that tezzeret is immune to phyresis, and bolas has been able to create a vaccine to phyresis. I was just discussing this bit with a friend at a draft last night and we have both came to the consensus that they might bring back bolas to have him create more phyresis vaccines and possibly even make a cure to phyresis. Due to the rule of cool, we also came to a consensus that since ugin is keeping a constant vigil on bolas, bolas is currently sparkless, and the 2 are twins, if this were to happen we would get a card with both of them on it, either as both appearing on one side and having an effect that sorta combines the effect styles of both of them or as a double faced card, one side having bolas as a legendary creature and the other side being an ugin planeswalker. I could also see a set of partner cards where the 2 together create a perfect counter to infect with some great benefit by dealing with some infect guys.
Just my thought. He wasn’t a sleeper the entire story. It’s told through Ajanis smile. When Karn first meets him, he doesn’t show teeth (showing teeth is a sign of aggression for Leonin). After he is confirmed to be a sleeper… he smiles with his teeth. Meaning he becomes one sometime during the story
Honestly, the only way I see how the heroes can win this fight is for Karn to become the father of the machines willingly and override whatever "will" there is in the cursed Oil that dictates every phyrexians actions. Not only would it give the phyraxian threat an end, but it also opens up new possibilities. We could get neutrally aligned phyrexians which aren't default bad guys for example.
I love your lore videos, I got into magic just before innistrad midnight hunt, and your lore videos got me soooooo excited for the set coming out, despite people calling it a bad set, i had a great time with it and it was so much fun opening boxes while listening to your lore videos about it. Since then It's become habitual when sets are coming out I always look for your lore videos and you always get me extremely excited for it. Thanks again man!

What they did to Ajani...it is cruel...makes me sick. So hear me out... So, two months ago my mom was diagnosed with cancer. My mom has already been dealing with the chronic illness of rheumatoid arthritis and acute kidney failure. She already had her two hips replaced. Because of the constant pain her very concept of reality has been warped. My mom is not the same mom that I knew before. Phyrexian oil kind of functions like that. I kind of feel what they did to Ajani is like what my mom is going through and it hurts. He is not the same as what I remembered him by. I feel kind of pathetic caring so much for a fictional character like this. I am probably just shoving all of my anxiety onto a fictional character, and yeah big corp doing it for the $, but it makes me feel more deflated and hopeless for the situation vs hype to get the set. My comment will probably get lost in the void, but the feelings still remain. I guess I kind of need a jump-start to get me excited about playing mtg and the new sets. Maybe return to Lorwyn? Wait....*Ajani was one of first planeswalkers introduced in Lorwyn* ok now I am just gonna go ........ I want my old Ajani. #saveajani

Is no one bothered by the fact that upon realizing there were sleeper agents, they didn't think of running diagnostic methods like weighting to see if the average density is heavier than flesh, or some sort of X-ray through the body, or even just stripping and looking for surgical marks?
What if karn goes to new phyrexia and activates the cylex, which in turn destroys all ofbthe colored mana there and opens a time rift sending the plane into the past only to be discovered by yawgmoth...

I feel like Tezz will off her to even up Gideon saving her. Jace will ascend to a new post bro war god tier Planeswalker and crush Tezzie's brain. I wonder if we will get a new mending event that 1) Offs a bunch of walkers... Hello Phyrexia 2) Also creates a new Planeswalker card style. Maybe they'll all be nerfed back to flip walkers? Or maybe even Titan level in the complete opposite direction of being nerfed.
They would need to go all the way back to the time of the Thran to showcase Dyfed in something contemporaneous. If she were to show up "now", it would be as a previously unacknowledged _compleated_ thrall of Gix or something.
I wonder what would happen if Emrakul got involved, would she try to aid the heros or try to bring both them and the phyrexians under her influence, can she even influence the phyrexians? And Im sure bolas had some plot for the phyrexians as well
I still find it really amusing that people think planes are planets when they really are dimensions of reality! If they were planets, then Phyrexia would not need a portal to get to Dominaria! It's amazing that no one has figured this out yet!

I have always hoped that someone would go back in time and change that Mishra and Urza would unite, instead of fighting. They both should be Planeswalkers. Best of both worlds. That would complete the spark of Glacian. Then they would both be able to activate the sylix. Together... obliterating the Phyrexian threat. Travel to this time and truly unifying Dominaria. Great storytelling as always. Keep it up. Interesting in how the story progresses further. Do really like the suspense in the dmu. I do think that there are some parts in the story that might have made nice magic cards. So it looks like the story and cards are a bit more separate. But not in a way that totally contradicts it like in Capenna.

I dont blame you for mispronouncing some countries and places here and there though as without Richard Garfield himself or at least an authorized person at WotC describing how thigns are pronounced, I admit that I have been known to play around with and take liberties with the way things in many franchises are said. :P
This is probably the saddest story to me cause after learning so much over the 3 years ive been playing and learning magic. Ajani became my favorite planeswalker. He was genuinely the last one i thought would be compleated. And it makes me so sad that hes like the second. Whose next? Jace? Vraska? Chandra? Better not be Liliana! I would be so cross
I wouldn’t be surprised if Liliana dies sometime in the next few sets. After freeing herself from the chain veil and turning on Bolas, her story arc feels like it’s nearing its end.
i had a thought about a month ago (whenever the set names for next year were revealed). the 2nd big story set will be march of the machine. here's the deal, it says MACHINE as in singular. i can't help but wonder if i am literally reading too much into it but i wonder if the phyrexians will combine into a fortress kind of thing.
The two things I want to know are what was going on with Braids’s revival and also why is Lilliana of the Veil in the set, why would she have the chain veil again?
This was pretty deep shown you think of previous lore and are worried about characters you want to survive. But now we have seen 2 PW lost. Can we get back Ajani and Tamiyo? I doubt it
What’s even more messed up is Ajani is/was Wizard’s mascot for the Extra Life charity. So imagine some kid in hospital becomes interested in Magic only to find out the character who helped them through tough times has become a monster and stabbed his friends in the back!
What I don't get about all this lore is how Jhoira, Jaya (RIP), and, to a lesser extent, Teferi (he's a chronomancer so I guess I can make it make sense) are still alive after all these years. Can anyone help?
Pre mending planeswalkers used to be godlike and ageless. Although they could be killed with enough force or enough head injury. Jhoira and Teferi had access to Tolarian water, which slows down the aging proces.
I wanna know one thing tho and I think this goes for everyone but WHEN did Ajani become a sleeper agent or was he always a agent this whole time and no one knew until now

If he did say it, he misspoke. Ain't no way Jhoira would be a planeswalker after all this time without an ascension scene, or without such a card in THIS VERY SET, where she already did get a card.
My assumption is that the tree at the end probably has something to do with the Tyrite from Kaldheim, and maybe it was a seed of some kind for a World Tree that they then corrupted

This is probably the saddest story to me cause after learning so much over the 3 years ive been playing and learning magic. Ajani became my favorite planeswalker. He was genuinely the last one i thought would be compleated. And it makes me so sad that hes like the second. Whose next? Jace? Vraska? Chandra? Better not be Liliana! I would be so cross
I wouldn’t be surprised if Liliana dies sometime in the next few sets. After freeing herself from the chain veil and turning on Bolas, her story arc feels like it’s nearing its end.

i had a thought about a month ago (whenever the set names for next year were revealed). the 2nd big story set will be march of the machine. here's the deal, it says MACHINE as in singular. i can't help but wonder if i am literally reading too much into it but i wonder if the phyrexians will combine into a fortress kind of thing.

This was pretty deep shown you think of previous lore and are worried about characters you want to survive. But now we have seen 2 PW lost. Can we get back Ajani and Tamiyo? I doubt it
What’s even more messed up is Ajani is/was Wizard’s mascot for the Extra Life charity. So imagine some kid in hospital becomes interested in Magic only to find out the character who helped them through tough times has become a monster and stabbed his friends in the back!

What I don't get about all this lore is how Jhoira, Jaya (RIP), and, to a lesser extent, Teferi (he's a chronomancer so I guess I can make it make sense) are still alive after all these years. Can anyone help?
Pre mending planeswalkers used to be godlike and ageless. Although they could be killed with enough force or enough head injury. Jhoira and Teferi had access to Tolarian water, which slows down the aging proces.

We used to think being a Planeswalker couldn't be compleated but the New Phyrexians found a way around it. I wouldn't believe that Tezerret's immunity is absolute

If he did say it, he misspoke. Ain't no way Jhoira would be a planeswalker after all this time without an ascension scene, or without such a card in THIS VERY SET, where she already did get a card.
My assumption is that the tree at the end probably has something to do with the Tyrite from Kaldheim, and maybe it was a seed of some kind for a World Tree that they then corrupted
that tree is gonna bloom into a tree that bridges all the planes into NP so they can invade everywhere all at once
