  • Several Demonstrations from the Dai Style Xinyi. First is a young boy demonstrating squatting monkey exercises and then goes into Tiger step. Second is Yue Jianzu son of Yue Guining (Disciple of Dai Kui). Here he demonstrates element form. Word is that Yue Jianzu never wanted to learn martial arts until Yue Guining paid some thugs to beat him up! Third is a clip of Wang Yinghai, disciple of Dai Kui. Here he performs the Xinyi Dai Nui Kou San Dao (3 broadswords). 5th is a practioner demoing with "chopstick" like weapons. And lastly is Dong Jianlong performing the 3rd set of Za Shi Chui (locking postures). Za Shi Chui roots come from mantis, and was taught to the Dai clan by Jin Shikui. (thank you Jarek Syzmanski for info)

When checking out CMA on the net, a hint, you see guys in some poor area, plainly dressed in a dirt field, you are likely seeing the real deal. All these folks have excellent skill, in a fairly challenging style. And if they are clearly Han Chinese, but Muslim, then you've really struck gold.

It's economical, not limiting. The body is tight. Similarly, Muay Thai fighters and western boxers squeeze their bodies together with their arms raised in guard. Dai Xinyi fights close range, brings you down as they go down, then throws you out as they go up.

Xinyi is the ancestor of Xingyi. In Xingyi certain movements were modified by footwork methods and static postures

not really how it goes. old frame xing yi quan was taught by Cao Jiwu to Ma Xueli and the Dai brothers resulting in three styles according to my lineage chart.
Dai Longbang taught Dai Erlu who created Dai Xin Yi Quan.
Dai Longbang also trained Guo Weihan who was the teacher to Li Luonan, the creator of modern Xing Yi Quan (he possibly received some training in Dai Xin Yi Quan from Dai Erlu).
Ma Xueli trained Zhang Zhicheng who trained Li Zheng, Ma and Li created Xin Yi Liu He Quan.

Sorry sir you are wrong. There is no evidence of Cao Ji Wu teaching anyone anything, unless you are talking about that forgery of a boxing manual (Lu He Quan XU) which mentions him.
If anything, Dai Long Bang was taught XYLHQ by Li Zheng, the Dai's had a inn in Shijidian, Henan and is most probably there some exchange was made.
Dai Wen Xiong aka Dai Da Lu (Dai Long Bang's oldest son) was burned alive by bandits in a uprising, after that Dai Long Bang went into a depression and as far as I know didnt teach any more.
There is also a Xin Yi Liu He Quan style, called, "Fan Jia Xin Yi Liu He Quan", which is in Qi Xian, Shanxi (same birthplace as Dai) though I have not had a chance to see it yet.
Guo Weihan is supposedly Dai Long Bang's 2nd wife's nephew, it was either he that taught, Li Laoneng, or Li Laoneng learnt from, Dai Er Lu (Dai Wen Xun).
As for the difference between the 2 I have 2 theories.
      1) the changes were due to the conservativeness of Dai family and they omitted certain training methods intentionally (dun hou shi etc).
      2) natural development, the art was changed with time etc

interesting. I've always been taught that it was the other way around. Would you have any links to sites or books with more information?

Nonsense. Xin-yi Liu He branched from shaolin school xin yi(which, I think, is extinct or very close now), Dai Family Xin Yi(rare), and Five Element Xing Yi (now by far the most common style and, I feel, the most incomplete). This split happened around the 16th century.

    • @Jon-ov4nc
      @Jon-ov4nc 8 лет назад

It didn't come from shaolin and is unrelated to Shaolin Xin Yi Ba despite similar names, there was an exchange of knowledge and theory between the Shaolin temple and old frame Xing Yi Quan (which has its roots firmly in taoism, not buddhism) through Ji Longfeng and Li Shiming.

    • @DAIXINYI

As far as I know Shaolin Xin Yi Ba was created due to Ma Xueli visiting Shaolin temple and teaching there for a while

I don't think it's incomplete, but it was developed to focus on a different, but similar methods of fighting. In some aspects, Xingyiquan is more efficient at creating well trained fighters due to the simplified structure of 5 elements and 12 simple animal movements based on those 5 elements. Some lineages bring in the compression/expansion methods of dai xinyi through the ba shou forms.

@@bigwavesun For example in our lineage, we don´t have common Xingyi body methods, but use the Dai structure instead. Our basic training is the same as in Dai Xinyi.
