    The shorter versions of the Scott Sector are insanely powerful and incredibly lightweight. These are great rods for blind casting to Stripers (which is what we are doing in this video) or throwing big flies from a boat. Tune in as Ben gives you the pros and cons of the oft-overlooked versions of this well-rounded rod series from Scott.

      I’ve got one too and it’s hard to believe it’s a 10wt

      So do you guys overline to an 11wt or 12 wt with your rods?

  • @thepimpernel6971
    @thepimpernel6971 4 года назад +2

    Without question you have to up the ante on line weight for the 9ft 6wt. The rod has major backbone you cant load it with 160grain line.

    I would really like to see a review on the Taylor truth 8wt.

    Blind fishing, yeah. Personally, I think these would be great wading bonefish rods. The shorter rod gives you more accuracy and fishing fighting ability. Dont necessarily need the extra 15ft of casting ability from the shorter 8".

    I have the 8wt payload, do you think its worth looking at this to upgrade my main 8wt or would it be redundant?

    How does the sector match up to the Exocet SS as far as lifting power I deal allot with fish running in cover I own the 10 wt sector of this size . Thanks

    Nice review.
    I wish we saw you cast it more. I can tell your haul timing is right on, you waited till the last minute to apply it where it counts the most. It’s hard for me to do that because I got in the habit of hauling throughout the forward cast. Trying to undo this bad habit but it’s not easy.

      @@Tridentflyfishing still dialing that in- it depends on the fly I’m casting and the location. The titan taper is a little easier to control distance up against tree lined banks, the outbound short will turn over big flies easily and just wants to send it!

    What about 9' 8wt, should I go heavier line with that? Is is as good as asquit?

    • @thepimpernel6971
      @thepimpernel6971 4 года назад

      you need to demo a couple of lines on that rod it is very stiff and needs a heavy line to load

    In your model by model comparisons did you feel the over-lining of true-to-weight lines applied to the 9 foot models as well? Or is this specifically related to the 8' 4" models?

    • @ibookje
      @ibookje 4 года назад +1

      Yes quite remarkable conclusion indeed. I havent heard about these models being too light for their rating before. Have you talked to Scott about this?
      Really looking forward to Ben's response!

    • @Tridentflyfishing
      @Tridentflyfishing  4 года назад

      No... we only recommend over lining the shorter rod models (8' 4").
