I recently went home to Brisbane, Australia for a visit. I experienced some serious reverse culture shock!

Beautiful Brisbane in which I know of someone (never met him) who lives...a European who was taken aeay from his mother, straight after he was born in Denmark...in one of the worst child abuse cases the country ever had (during WW2)...I'm sure he have had a much better life in Australia than he would have had in the Holocaust...or, I hope so.
And Loja....home in a completely different way for sure but, we make our choices and, I surely look forward to Ecuador and her people...multicultural in a completely different way and, like you, get away from the western - often false and inhuman - rat race.....Ecuador much prefered and, today I am happy I didn't chose Brisbane, no matter how beautiful the city is.....maybe I'll visit some day...

It feels like it gets more expensive in Brisbane every day! I'm not sure how I'd go living in Ecuador, though... But definitely would like to visit! 😁
