    Lets not overlook the Redstone FCU Visa. 5% on restaurants and gas purchases, 3% groceries, discount stores, wholesale clubs, utilities, phone and streaming services and 1.5 all else with 7k caps on each those bonus categories. Especially useful for those that shop Wal-Mart, Target and Costco. But as for me, I use the USBAR and it is by far the best and most used card I have in my wallet. Another great video from Dr Strange..I mean Stan 😁

      @TheCreditFrog  5 месяцев назад +3

      Definitely a great card FDF! I think this card is probably better used as an accessory card since the catch-all multiplier isn't as good, but I will say it's a powerful one-card setup if you spend within the multiplier limits! Glad you're on board with the USBAR train - it's a good one to be on. And I guess I have my Marvel avatar picked out for me at this point, haha 👍!

    Love this strategy Stan! I feel like it's been more commonplace in the Credit Card game recently to work on making your setup more lean and subtracting instead of adding from the amount of benefits & cards you have to keep track of. The Venture X is a great option as a One Card Setup, with being a Catch All Option, Travel Option & some luxury-type benefits like Lounge Access, Premier Hotel Collection, etc. The Citi Premier could be an interesting one as well with how well-rounded the multipliers are + the Citi Travel upside. Great video as always!

      I totally agree Matt! That trend is simplification not diversification! At least, that's what I'm doing, and I'd like to think so, haha! But i had to pick only 1 travel card it either be the CSP or AmEx Green. Both low AFs & some insurance protections. The new strata premier would also be a good option, but i prefer URs or MRs above TYs

    The US Bank Altitude GO card is often overlooked, but would be perfect for a 1 card setup. 4x on dining, 2x on Gas and Groceries, $15 annual streaming credit, No AF, and No FTF. If I could only have one card, this would be the one based on my spending.

    A one card setup may be where airline cards, especially AA, shine if you fly a few times a year. Take the AAdvantage Elite. Get Lounge access, Priority Boarding, bags, travel and purchase protections, spend to status and get guaranteed complimentary preferred or main cabin extra. The multipliers stink but the other stuff has value.
    If you get into the shopping portal, simply miles, and Citi offers it really starts to stretch its legs.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 месяцев назад

      That's true! I've never really thought about airline cards in that way. I think for me, I would have to be flying like once a week or having air travel be a primary part of my life for me to use an airline card exclusively since the rewards are only going to matter when you fly! The AA example you provided is interesting, and I can see where you're coming from since you can certainly get a lot of value from the AA benefits on that card!

    The Bank of America Travel Rewards card is another good choice - no annual fee, no foreign-transaction fee, Visa (universal acceptance). With preferred rewards, it just becomes overpowered. The Premium Rewards card is a bit better, but some might be averse to paying an annual fee if they want to just have a one-card setup.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 месяцев назад

      Definitely a great option too! The only issue I have with TR/UR is that UR has FTFs, and TR doesn't, but the redemption method is kind of weird in that it has to be redeemed against a travel/dining purchase. NBD if it's your only card, but if it's catch-all then you'd have to move spend to that card to redeem those points. But you're right for this exercise - another great option as a single card solution!

  • @elliottnixon-wq6sp

    Nice video. I think a 1 card set up isn’t possible because you don’t want to nuke your credit utilisation and cash back and points cards come with different benefits even if the multipliers are the same. Two cards (one cash back and one travel) is probably the most effective for most people.

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Elliott! It's true, a one-card setup isn't the best way to maximize and it's better to have more than one to synergize the multipliers and benefits, but one card would make things so much simpler! I agree though - two cards are probably the minimum setup I would run.

    Like 5x Hilton points is not better than 4x Amex MR points. I always do the math to figure out what the return in $ terms are. For example the BBP is 2x yes, but since it’s 0.02$ per MR point, it’s a return of 4% back on everything in the US

    $550 Bank of Americard sucks compared to other premium cards, such as the Amex Platinum or Chase Reserve. Though you're getting $300 credit, might as well keep your $550

    • @TheCreditFrog
      @TheCreditFrog  5 месяцев назад

      It depends how you look at it. While yes, a direct comparison to the Platinum would definitely result in the Platinum being better, it’s the wrong comparison. It should be compared to the PR card at $95. With the $300 and $150 credits on the PR Elite, that’s just a $5 up charge on the Elite. As the CSR/RC cards are losing PP restaurants, the PR Elite is now one of the only cards that has it! Again, it depends on what you’re looking for!

      @@TheCreditFrog CSR may be losing PP restaurants but you also get access to a increasingly Sapphire Lounge network. They also have many transfer partners and free memberships with Instacart, Doordash . I think $550 is way too much for the Bank of America premium, considering other cards 💳
