@@CourtneeCae13 Actually the bullnose is often vinyl or sometimes something like cast gypsum. You can cut that out with a multitool and a sawzall, some cuts can be done with a utility knife. Easier still is reshaping the corners with Durabond 90 then trimming, or using thin plywood or MDF to overlay as an ‘extension jamb.’
That no-trim detail is primarily used because it’s inexpensive and quick for builders. Architecturally it’s called a drywall return. It’s often used in austere designs for condos, track houses, and commercial work. 3:08 that’s sorta an exterior caulking 3:22 when you tape to caulk you need a one inch putty knife to square it against the wall, then you pull off the tape immediately and let the caulking harden before painting. You don’t want the tape on there when you paint anyway because it makes a mess and you can’t cut the paint tight to the wall and it will leave a line. 3:55 smooth finish 7:11 mentioned twice… a good paint brush used with a decent high-end paint like Benjamin Moore will not leave brush strokes. As a professional, I have occasionally rolled on trim paint for speed of spread THEN back-brush it to make it look good. Rollers can’t get into corners or cut a crisp line like a Purdy brush will. People don’t like spending on Benjamin Moore but considering the time expense of painting, the coupla slices of pizza difference in price is irrelevant on the grand scale.
Kenzie! It came out sooooo good! I've always loved window from. It just seems to give a more polished finished look😍I currently gave from on my windows on my living room and study. Working in getting it done on the rest if the house. My husband and I did it ourselves.
New subscriber today!! This was beautiful!! My builder grade home has no window trim!! I appreciate the tips and suggestions! I will definitely add this project to my list ❤
Looks fantastic. I've been wanting to build some trim for our windows, but frankly I thought it would be way too difficult. Thank you for sharing. This looks totally doable, and beautiful.
New subscriber here. You did a VERY nice job. I don't understand builders who don't do the trim. It's like you finished their job for them. It's not something I've had to deal with, but I've seen it in some modern homes and, frankly, an untrimmed room looks unfinished. Good for you and thanks for sharing!
great job. I shared this video with my sister in Australia. She just purchased an apartment with boring window like your old ones. she is going to do the same.
I'm in Florida and my house was built in 1988. It does not have trim. It's a modern look to not have trim. I have draperies on all the windows and I think they look better without trim. However, you did a great job and the windows look excellent.
I live in CA, and no one’s home has window trimming💔I have absolutely no idea why that is, but both old and currently being built homes do not automatically have window trimming installed. They call it “custom”🙄So, if the owner(s) wants that they have to request to have that done, and of course that extra “custom” costs EXTRA money… soooo dumb🤦♀️
do you have window trim in your home?! if so, did it come standard with the house or did you put it in yourself? 😊
Yes we do!! Standard
It’s standard where I live but more basic than the look you’ve created. Good job ❤
I’m in AZ, no not standard. But 99% of our newer homes (2000 or later) have bullnose corners so a much more difficult task to add trim. :/

It’s a cheap builder grade window. I live in NC and I don’t have trim. I told someone it looks like the eyelashes are missing without trim😂
