Great tips, folks! 50 y/o Boho hippie here (always have been, always will be)! So happy to see so many people now embracing my personal favorite and lifelong style! Less is certainly not more, when decorating Boho. Besides the use as decor and the beauty of being surrounded by plants and crystals, they are both so incredibly amazing for our health and overall wellbeing! While plants (real and fake) can tend to be pricey, definitely go for the real vs fake, as the benefits are so worthy. Only part I don't love about the surge in Bohemian lifestyles (I realize this video is a year old, but Boho just might be here to stay!), is that all the things I've loved finding so affordably, for so very long, are now sadly so much more expensive. Shop thrift stores, whenever possible, in order to not feed the big guys. Love and light to all!
I watched this video while laying in bed. Midway through the video I got up went around my house collecting “boho” pieces and decorated my living room. Feels so cozy and vibrant!! Thanks
This pointed out everything I've always wanted in a room or living area but didn't know it was called 'boho' until now. I could never really explain what I wanted to other people. When I mention low sitting and low furniture, people always go "ooh japanese style" and Im like "yeeah... but not quite". I hate overhead lighting, love plants, texture, light woods and an overall cozy and relaxed feeling in a room and I find more and more the tendency is for those square, bland, modern, dark colored furniture from IKEA... really practical and clean looking, but also cold and really devoid of personality. This video really did wonders for me. Great job. subbed.
She has it all together. I ave a small living room and decided to transform it into boho. Every one has a standard sectional, etc... furniture. I want my living space to be different and now it is different. I love it. All my surroundings have white, gray, beige furniture. I would rather do black colours instead of no colour. I grew up in the middle of flowers and need them to be half way not board.
I just realized my home style is BOHO !! I've traveled world cultures, and collected lovely objects I display, layered rugs, mix of art, media, and love scents! Your videos are very honest, with a sincere quality, inspiring. Thank you!
I love boho and am currently decluttering my home and minimizing all my stuff so I can make my home beautiful. This video was really helpful in helping me decide what to keep and why I was struggling with certain items. I have a lovely fuscia rug that I was going to get rid of but just couldn't do it. However, I've not used it because I didn't know how to make it work... Now I know how to make my pink rug work and I don't have to force myself into letting it go 💖 thank you!!
I’m with you, sister! Minimalist and wanting cozy comfortable warm as well. Textures, pops of colour, and plants! Rather than stuff on the floor, I’m going for wall art and throws.
"Boho" decor style has certainly changed since my late 1960-70's teen years when "Boho" decor came into fashion in the US. Dark woods were fine but lots and lots of jewel tone colors. Yes, adding texture was a big part of it as was keeping it low.
I know what you're talking about. I wasn't around in the 70s but I love that style. I feel like that was "bohemian" and this is the updated, sanitized "boho" style.
I'm a child of the 60s and 70s also. Your memory of boho is the same as mine. I still like it today. Along with my cinder block and lumber bookshelves.
I think Boho still incorporates dark woods that are BROWN! All the things she showed were like ugly black furniture - I think that’s what she meant. No black! It’s about earthy colors, and what’s more earthy than the color of the earth? 😂
I love boho style but I lean toward a more modern look in my home with just touches of boho sprinkled throughout! Appreciate all your ideas especially about just bringing only items that you absolutely love into your spaces!
@@katarinawikholm5873 that sounds interesting, will you please do a video on on this style? I am not sure the difference between some of these terms I hear decorators using today.
Yep, I'm definitely like that too! I'm a mix of many styles, but leaning heavily to boho and modern - clean lines and avoiding clutter, but colorful, cozy, inviting! But I also enjoy scandi, japanese and industrial styles, so I like to hint at them in certain items as well.
Really helpful video for those of us who know we like boho but can't seem to pull it off. I have a friend who is really good at making eclectic decor look good, and she gave me this tip. Find a patterned item, like a pillow or rug, that you really like and want to use, and make that your color palette.
After searching for videos to help inspire me to decorate my new apartment, I FINALLY came across your channel . I am SO thankful. You covered all bases, super thorough, without taking an hour to cover everything. Super thankful !!!! I will be keeping up with you. thanks so much !
I'm hooked on your videos! You are charming to watch and give concise information in an organized manner ... so refreshing and welcome! Your videos are just the right length (not too long), and you offer more related info at your website. AND you have an adorable doggie. You are the Mary Poppins of RUclips decorating advice: practically perfect in every way! Why are more things in life not as organized and easy to understand?!
I want to do a boho/costal style in my new house, these types of videos really help me to understand how I can collaborate the two without overdoing it! Thank you!
Thanks for this great video! My home was very badly damaged during Hurricane Ian. Soon the reconstruction will be finished and I will be able to decorate it. I want to do a boho style in the living room, and have been watching lots of videos about boho decorating. Your video is my favorite and very concise and to the point. I have already viewed it several times. Thank you!!
I loved your boho vibe hints. Then you picked up your dog and I fell in love. What a cutie! I never really knew how to describe my decor style. I used to call it eclectic. After seeing this I realise that its boho. Casual, fun, eclectic, cosy and relaxed. Perfection.
I really liked your video. I have the massive black pax wardrobe, a bookshelf and a black table. It is ok for me and my boho vibe. I think bright colours (I like hot pink tassels at my wardrobe) pop out even more in front of a dark background. That is why I also painted one wall in dark green. I like the light feeling of white but it feels less cosy for me.
im excited to decorate my new boho office! im shocked that my inexperienced self already had purchased a lot of these suggested items!! yay so proud of myself!
Hi, I tried boho design for 8 weeks. And I've tried to give it a Santorini type of look. It turned out to be the most perfect. The plants and textured accents actually nailed everything. Thank you dear. You should absolutely make more videos like this! 😊😊

Just found your channel. Terrific advice. I totally agree with you about the home fragrance. Visitors always say how lovely our home feels and smells. (I am a candlemaker 🙂)
I) love when I travel and find such an inspiring item for the home. I do not want to become a person that goes like "don't touch my stuff" so if something breaks or tears, I see it as an excuse to go back to that place :D
Passing on the word that I recently found out that the essential oil diffusers are harmful to pets. After using my diffuser for a couple months and I noticed that my cat was developing a bad cough and it was not a hairball cough. Did some research and it was from the essential oils. There are a few Central Oils that are okay for your pets I've tried two of them and was not that fond of the the sent. Please Google.
Wonderful video. This just popped into my feed and I clicked on it right away. I did not realize I had a decorating style at all. I think I have been boho for a long time. Just loved your ideas and I think I can expand my decor with more intention. I also subscribed right away.
The only thing I haven't been able to do is rugs! Someday when I can afford it, I will get some outdoor rugs to put inside that I can hose down, but with eight cats, rugs are a no-go lol. Hairballs are not fun to clean out of carpets!
Loved this.. we just did my daughters appointment yesterday. We did get a few fake plants . Because she does not have a green thumb . But thanks for the advice I will definitely use it. . Seriously though who puts thumbs down:( 👎🏻. People are so rude! 🥰❤️

She came to my little cabin and SNEERED at the way I had it decorated...
Her disgusted comment saying... "What is "THIS" motif?"
I tried not to laugh... and was very Happy with the way I had "Casually" decorated my little cablin.... and knowing she had probably never set foot in a cabin, that was shabby chic...
I answered,
"Oh Darling... This is expensive you know... it is Early American Garage Sale."
Then she recanted her sneer and said, "OH of course it is... quite charming indeed."
She didn't know what a Garage Sale was...

After using my diffuser for a couple months and I noticed that my cat was developing a bad cough and it was not a hairball cough. Did some research and it was from the essential oils.

As a former remover of hairballs, I 100% understand. I'd choose cats over rugs any day! 🥰
Well I don't choose cats over carpets, my husband does. So we do both! I do use a wet/dry vacuum tho to clean. It helps big time and on every surface.
Loved this.. we just did my daughters appointment yesterday. We did get a few fake plants . Because she does not have a green thumb . But thanks for the advice I will definitely use it. . Seriously though who puts thumbs down:( 👎🏻. People are so rude! 🥰❤️
Apartment 🤦🏻♀️ lol😜
I mix in faux plants at home all the time, I love them! I hope your daughter loves her new space ♥
