I love how you ran the entire ubers without holy shield active lol
I would NEVER forget to have holy shield up 😆😆😆
Legend
I have my shield maxed out so it lasts forever. I forget to cast it too lol
I started d2r with one goal in mind. Auradin from the ground up, the only paladin build I didn't do in the old version. I ran around on my paladin until I cubed up a jah and ber to forge enigma. I smoothed out the hammerdin build enough and then proceeded to spend years on and off to craft my own dream helm/shield and dragon chest/HOJ phase. I just have to find some resist charms now to compensate for what i'm missing and i'm done. I have both sunder light and fire GC's, stuff just dies around me. It was almost teary selling my hand made enigma for the final runes to finish the build.
Another secret option for smiter budget is a phase blade crescent moon runeword which casts static field and takes chunks off
I'm working on a build that is a mix between the 1 point smiter with max zeal and then using FOH to deal with demon and indead mobs.
Helm: gface with an um
Armor: using fortitude now but Templar coat gusrdian angel would be fine
Shield: HOZ or Spirit
Weapon: heavens light or azurewrath (both have good damage and + to skills)
Boots: gore riders
Belt: Verdungo or String of ears
Amulet: using metal grid right now but any 2 pally skiller, highlords, similar type will work.
Rings: raven for the CBF. Any rare or crafted ring with leech (preferably dual leech but a p-skull in your weapon could do the trick)
Gloves: laying of hands (could use some crafted gloves with 20% fast attack speed and CB but hard to get the right roll). Dracs if needed for ubers or more survivability.
I have been using this build with a COA instead of the gfsce and using an eth death berserker axe online. Kills diablo and baal easily and I don't need to worry about the mobs. I have killed dclone with that build and believe I have done ubers a few times as well. Just need to use dracs or a want with life tap.
Before when I didn't use FOH and was trying to run baal or chaos the knights that cast decrepify would make it so much slower. That build does enough damage with FOH to kill the undead and demon mobs pretty easily on P1 on bnet. Still working on my offline build. Kills bosses very fast with smite then switch to zeal ro replenish orbs by leeching or land that final blow.
Skills:
Max zeal and it's synergies. Put one point into smite. Max holy shield and Max fanat. 1 into prayer, cleaning and vigor. Rest of points go into FOH. You could try putting more points into FOH first if you are satisfied with your damage in zeal. Will depend on your weapon and what you want to be your stronger attack.
Also on switch you could have lawbringer to deal with physical immunes if your merc isn't going to use reapers toll. If he's not using reapers you could put on insight to keep your mana up if your FOH is the main skill you use. Could also use infinity if you want the lightning damage to hit harder. Obedience isn't a bad choice either just for more raw damage for your merc to have.
Hammerdin has been the best build since forever. I remember stumbling onto the build myself very near original release of d2. I made an Amazon, then made a hammerdin right after an early patch that fixed concentration not working with hammers (I think. That's what I'd heard in battle net chatrooms and decided to try out the skill.)
Before synergies, pally was still awesome because you could use extra points to also max smite and holy shield. When vendors didn't sell pots, redemption was amazing.
So hammers would kill mobs extremely quick. Then I'd use a barbed shield for extra smite damage, that's what I always rolled on charsi imbue, and smite would own high health bosses like Diablo and izual.
Ww barbs seemed to be the most common chars back then, with big spears. I rarely saw other pallies, and never other hammerdin smiters. It was not widely recognized how good it was shortly after release of the game, but it was, I think, the best build to farm act 4 even back then.
Would you consider doing a video on the latest ladder with actual budget gear for these builds? Basically no high rune runewords. I know hammers start to suck in areas like chaos due to targeting issues without teleport so it'd be nice to see how a pro player like you deals with it. I suck at targeting and have been playing since way too long ago :( And nobody is going to show hammers in maggot lair without enigma :)
FoHdin is really good for farming Chaos in D2R and is not heavy on targeting. You can probably even mix the two for a playthrough before specializing in the end game. Both being casters the gear will be the same.
For maggot really just buy a staff of teleport at Ormus or Drognan in nightmare or hell.
Ethan unless you are literally brand new but I suspect you aren’t, standard gear for 90% of characters normally include dual spirits stealth and lore and potentially craft or imbue belts boots gloves. Anything else you find is ok. The cheat code is to farm nightmare cows for your gear needs. If your talking about end game builds well those don’t apply same logic.
As far as hammerdin is concerned you don’t need to use hammerdin at all. Consider using other builds or variants of hammerdin. But if your forced to use hammerdin you obviously should have a teleport staff (I keep 4) on swap and use charge for positioning. For tough mobs I smite one time to stun and get into position.
If you want to play even smarter then use conversion or other curses that cause monsters to not target you and then learn how to charge into monsters and hammer.
Ahh man, hammerdin is my fav class..
But a hammerdij in maggot lair without tele is one of the worst things to experience in d2 😂.
Even without Enigma, you can play with the shield dash on Hammerdin and you will be pretty fast on your way.
It’s called Charge
@@kristopherleslie8343 Thank you. Sorry I dont play that game on english language :D
@@memeliciousletmemesbrighte4150 it’s ok fellow diablo smasher may the force of the powerful one cover you in your games and provide you the best loot!
@@kristopherleslie8343 Wow what a nice person. So the same goes to you my fellow loot-goblin.
I do FOHdin/Smiter hybrid. Since full magic damage is 40 pts for FOH and then I do max holy shield and smite. Extra boost to block so I can get more HP and can do a good CB damage on swap to whittle bosses down. I run one now on HC single player. Also wanted to add that for SC players, both hammer boy and fohdin can always be 1 pt smiters. They don't run torches super fast, but can do ubers with basic gear.
HDIN and FOHDIN is so buget friendly that you can duo/solo most & all content on D2 CLASSIC. Literally doesn't need teleporting, merc auras, auric shields, charms to be a very solid class.
My new go to smiter build I saw GGM use where he synergies holy bolt procs from items. It’s great for clearing out undead and demon trash mobs as u destroy ur primary targets. It does require u to use the Principle Pally RW armor however so no teleport unless u rock an ammy with tele charges or swap with a tele staff.
Yea if they make adjustments to game it would be better but it’s dirt cheap and does it all
Also teleport is on a staff and swap or amulet or helmet you don’t need enigma
Yessirree! .. 'Silks of the Victor' Drop @7:25 This Tutorial is All about "of De Victor"
My first toon on d2r was a fohdin whereas my old main from the original game was a WW barb. He had pretty bad gear starting out fresh but he carried all of my toons to level 75 with not a lot of trouble. He is a great character for sure.
I found a 45 all res pally shield in an elite base, it was a sacred rondache😢😢😢
That's still the second best base behind sacred targe and worth alot
Havnt played in a while getting back into d2.
Pally was always my fav and I currently have a 91 hammerdin
And a 94 foh/budget smiter.
Great vid.
I love your content dude but the only "cheap" or "budget" one in the vid was the last build, the other ones requires runewords with high runes, and it was the most standard stuff everyone already knows about since forever. No interesting Set combinations or alternative uniques/rares at all except for the smiter.
For us who who play D2 and D2R and don't use forum gold, or have time to play for hours every day, we make a budget MF sorc and have 1 main maybe 1 alt, we use what we can get and use the in-game list to see what people are trading.
I tried Blessed Hammer in 1.09 and it worked wonder too. Funny how we had to get synergies to see its potential.
Far more polished than even a few months ago. Great work Phil
I guess Speardin is going to be in follow up video.
Spire of honor is gg😊
@@Worf-js5ohactually the Ariocs Needle
Man when you hit for 60-70k damage lol feels good for two hander still
i just cant get a smiter shield for anything, been searching for a HoZ since d2r been out still not 1 yet, dont have runes for exile so kinda sol, i want to get ubers runs in but no go for it since no shields found that are useable, any other armours good, i dont have enigma either other choices to use ?
Hammerdin is simply my favorite build in any game ever created. Hes just so damn op and so fun to play once you get enigma. Nova sorc is epic as hell. Blizz sorc used to be god tier still good after the nerf but not the top sorc build anymore.
Hey phil, or anyone can respond, maybe you have made a video, that i can't find, where would be the best place to MF, player 1 for high runes? asking because I play 99% online, and never with a group,
I dunno about Dclone with hammers. Maybe, but my Hammerdin with 8k damage rocks the whole game in P8 but Dclone not so much. It's very long, mostly a job for the mercenary.
I run a dual dream coh hoto foh pally in hc. Does decent.
Yea he’s good for but the holy fire just does more AOE by far.
Great suggestions. While the Hammerdin was fun, I'm working on a Zeal/Conviction Paladin this time around.
@10:10 bro was really smiting without HS 🤣
Always my early budget smiter rolls Kingslayer runeword on a phase blade budget friendly and good Crushing blow
At about 8k you can manage d clone. I got him spawned in trav had to go to town for pots twice but I did it.
My take on this game... you can hardly do a bad build when you have op items.
I'd like to see how these builds perform "pre" op items.
❤ I'm a paladin main fohdin is my go too for years I was a hammerdin I've even tried zealot which to me is a true pally and smiter I find more fun then hammerdin however after getting griffon on a lucky drop I went back to fohdin and I clear almost every where even cows I clear not the fastest but I hardly die there with conviction to -150 plus griffons it's a game changer for me maxed holy shock and now my foh does 6500 higher then holy bolt on foh I one shot everything with my end game gear I can farm anywhere idc what ppl say the fohdin has faster clear speed then the legendary hammerdin build. Plus on top of that I have a light facet which I socket in griffon putting my foh also a boss killer I kill Diablo and mep and baal pretty quick which again my set up is s tier worthy unlike what other ppl do in there builds. And I don't have points into redemption why? Well that's what potions are for plus I have max block chance with a max HS I don't get touched period. Even me doing cow level I one shot cows with my fohdin so it is possible however I wouldn't recommend doing cows like sweet Phil says, now if cows we're demons which imo they should be then fohdin would be the new king at monster slaying but again if they were demons. If geared right the fohdin out paces the hammerdin by a long run.
Do you know that comas exist?
why, did you wake up from one
Credit card? Forum gold? 🤨 don’t ever do it, kids
FOH is so much fun and is alot more viable than old school D2
Bro the tri aura hydradin is one of funnest and ginger gamers holy bolt hybrid. Dragondin best for p8 cows
The easiest is by far any run of the mill hammerdin , fohdin, hybrids of the two and a smiter (full game, not just Uber) I mean the cheapest is by far the Ranger Paladin as you literally only need 2 items
hammer and smite are most definitely the 2 most used pally builds from this list no questions. but is FoH really used used more then the zealot? that build is old as diablo himself lol, FoH only popped up cuz of d2r updates. it sucks auradin's are so godly expensive, it would likely be the most used build if it didn't cost a million bucks to make lol. but i digress, you'd really put FoH over zealot? is it cuz of the high runs it can do in sanctuary?
Zealot can clear more areas, but is super Slow.
A Fohdin with Bad gear, can clear cs, pits, trav, Arcane sanctuary, wsk, super fast and those are Good places to Farm high runes and gear.
Hammerdin is still better imho, but fohdin for the mentioned areas is also was faster, than the hammerdin.
For me, it was Great fun, to play a fohdin and you just Need Dual Spirit and other crap gear, to get started.
@@danjay4588I know it's slower and all, but since the video is about most played builds I figured it would be up there given the decades it had been played before FoH. You're not wrong at all though, I'm just going by title of the video perspective
@@lordlucario8828I See :)
But yea, fohdin will probably be played by way more people, than zealot, because of the clear Speed.
I totally enjoyed my zealot, even with budget gear, it was still fun, but it was far from farming efficiently.
I also Like off meta builds but Most people just want it fast.
Besides most people, i also enjoy a full playthrough :)
for FOH din - Hand of Blessed light is way better budget option, +4/6 skill /synergey skill boosts vs +2 spirit or +3 hoto. hand is better for foh. the other stats it has are decent as well mana regen and 100% attack ratting makes those long range head drops of foh nice with the extra holy bolts lol
ACT 2 sucks for FoH though to progress thru, its the worst of them, other acts have spots but act 2 is really alot of bad spots, foh maggots lair anyone haha - terrible. those bugs that spit lighting are all imune and act 2 they are everyplace. hammerdin not much good in maggot lair either, kinda gotta slog fest smite even if only 1 point in it to get thru act 2 in alot of spots.
My favorite is the dragondin
Surprised you didn't put zealot on here
FYI hammerdin is not good against ubers. I found this out the hard way.
Right brought mine in to clear trash for my boys budget smiter. Fast way to see how fast u can get ur hdin spitroasted in a 2p game
Can confirm hammerdin can take out Dclone easily.
I wish they would remove the GCD from FoH but I know the pvpers would hate/love that.
Have you tried the FOH Pangolin ? 😎
tell them how powerful hammerdins are in maggot lair :D
you could technically run cows with a FoH - youre just gonna have a very bad time ...
Trying to figure out what sort of player this video is for..trying to be constructive here but there’s so much vague description that the things left out seem like they would be really difficult for a new player to understand and if someone is knowledgeable enough about the game already then why would they need a video like this?
Ugh not true my fohdin slaps cow lvl
Literally NOBODY plays FotH Paladin in D2 Legacy. I've tried to it it's qite hard to wank on.
URGENT!!!! Guys, I just wanted you to know that Jesus is coming soon for those who sincerely believe in Him and will bring them to safety in heaven. Jesus is the son of God, our Lord and Savior. Will Jesus help me with high runes?
Jesus built my auradin..
what is expensive? you buy the most expensive builds easily for 100 usd today. It costs nothing even at the beginning of the ladder season it's very cheap. How you can say that something is expensive in this game? expensive for free trade maybe?
