    The .357 and the .44 performed about how I would expect them to. The one that really impressed me was the .327 Fed Mag... a tremendous amount of effect from such a small package in a snubbie

    • @GunSam
      @GunSam  Год назад +23

      On top of it, the lower end .327 Federal ammo like the Double-Tap has around 300 ft lbs energy, same recoil as .38 Special but closer to the effect of .357 Magnum. It has everything and fits in my pocket, even has 6 shots instead of 5. Capacity is low but I tend to hit everything I aim at because the LCR trigger is light.

      @@GunSam yeah I'm impressed 👍 currently carrying 38sp running truncated 127gr (ammo Inc non HP) and get some really good results with almost no recoil, but the .327 is looking even more impressive for both terminal velocity and follow-up shots 🔥(p.s-- would love to see more tests of flatnose/truncated non-hp options for those of us in areas where that's the only thing available 🙏🙏🙏)

      @@grahamohea2424 Maybe lol. One thing I find funny is for whatever reason, people that shoot autos and nothing more will assume that a reload requires someone to singly reload each round. If I happened to have had the .38 Special+P 110 gr Critical Defense ammo I would have used them in this video. I have tested a lot of .38 Special ammo and it's that caliber much like .380 ACP where it seems to get text book expansion and penetration one test, then the next test it completely fails in some way. The Critical Defense+P is the one .38 Special that has the least of those failures, I mean it will happen from time to time but I have tested it more than any other round and I would estimate it has a 90% success rate for expansion/penetration. With .327 Federal it's easy to always have good penetration, but the choices are so low now days in ammo that recommending which round does best is difficult to do, but thus far in my limited testing the Double-Tap does the best.

    • @adamesd3699

    The .410 may not have looked impressive, but that's very similar to four .380 round-nose FMJ's per shot. Many people think .410 handguns are inadequate for defense, but not many people are going to continue fighting after getting .380 quadruple-tapped instantaneously. Just gotta make sure you have the right ammo, and you're carrying it in a very close-range setting.

I may do this video with pistols and try to shoot a little mini gourds. I think that would be fun to, not so much on the explosive power, but on the accuracy. Course I’ll probably go through a box of ammo trying to hit a couple of these lol

      Unfortunately .327 Federal is near impossible to find. Even on ammoseek all you find is Underwood Xtreme Defender. Double-Tap .327 Federal isn't even available from Double-Tap currently. Your best choice right now if you wanted something similar in performance is to go to Buffalo Bore's website (they do not list on ammoseek like everyone else) or Midwayusa and look for their 100 gr XTP .32 H&R Magnum+P (.327 Federal is out of stock even at BB) because that's the 'best' load available for a .327 Federal revolver at the moment. I generally get by for training and carry by getting whatever I can at the moment for carry like that Buffalo Bore, and shoot .32 S&W Long or cheaper .32 H&R Mag for training.

      @@GunSam Thank you - super helpful info. Nice job on the video! It was pretty indicative of the power of the cartridges you demonstrated.

      Hollow base wadcutter sort of like an airgun pellet with a hollow skirt. When you load it upside down/backwards it becomes a flat nose hollow point.

      I have noticed they break the typical loading 'rules' to give people what they want. I have ran some of their 110 gr .357 Magnum before, (Corbon does this too) and rather than be safe against flame cutting, they just max out a 110 gr at 1,750 FPS.

    That was pretty cool! I think I've been catching onto something rather obvious. If you want impressive looking results when you hit water filled objects like pumpkins or water jugs, velocity is the key. It also helps if the bullet explodes open on impact. This will kill penetration, but those splashes will be impressive!
    So how do you get 2000fps out of a 2-3" barrel without turning your revolver into shrapnel?

    • @GunSam
      @GunSam  Год назад +2

      Yes, exactly. I find the pumpkin and watermelon testing fun, but really it's a measure of how well energy dump is at shallow depth. You could get this good effect with or without adequate penetration.

      @@GunSam Your carry ammo did very well on the pumpkins. I'm going to have to search to find the video that convinced you that that was the good stuff.

    Do you know what happened that I can’t find anywhere 327 ammo, is everyone buying it or the manufacturers not making any more? Can’t find in stock anywhere.

    Hey Pal..I have a Henry Carbine and a Ruger both in 327 fed mag. Where do you find ammo for that round!?!?? Frustrated🤔🤣

    • @GunSam
      @GunSam  Год назад

      Generally from Buffalo Bore directly 100 gr XTP. If that is out of stock their .32 H&R+P in a snub nose is identical power, but in a rifle it will be less powerful. Their hard cast .327 would do well in a rifle. I also hand load .327 Mag, not a big deal for me.
