It is stressful to play a real online game, especially if your opponent is similar to or above your skill level, but it's still better to know what you're supposed to do in different situations than to not know. That way you can learn much more from your replays. It feels like a 300% boost in efficiency compared to just blindly playing games.

I still wonder what T90Official would think would make Sicilians more appealing other than what he describes as just 'another knight civ' since the new unique tech was added. I've been a hard time figuring it out myself. My first thoughts were to have the Serjeants have a greater role in being a strange militia/villager hybrid, and have them be able to repair other structures or even siege weapons (and not just build/repair donjons). The high farm count and the anti-counter elements of the civilization are really nice on paper and work a lot as a defensive civ, it would be pretty nice if that was looked at. I'd personally remove the First Crusader's current tech function of +7 per TC (although not the resistance bonus, that is pretty nice for the civilization). Since the First Crusaders first started with peasents that came (and failed as the response, it would be nice if the Serjeants were changed to be able to repair other structures/siege units instead of just the Donjon. Would probably be a great benefit and a reason for many to go Serjeant instead of just Cavalier or last-ditch 35 Serjeants when at 200 Pop. Especially useful since Serjeants have more armour and don't flee like villagers do when attacked. Also had a different separate idea of having the Sicilians be AoE3 French; by having the Sicilians have the Unique tech Serjeantry that either A) Allowed it so that Villagers can drop off resources at Donjons or Castles, B) Allows Serjeants to collect resources like villagers (since their role in feudal times was pretty much doing stuff as a specialist commoner for the royalty), or C) Both. Thought that would be really funny. The last of the ideas was to have a unique tech where all units that are about to die first reach 1 HP instead of 0 HP as a last-ditch rebuttal before hitting 0 once damaged at 1 HP. A reference to their resilience and the funny quote from Princess Bride "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!". But a number of changes could change the civilization for better or worse.

Although considering a lot of units can often be easily killed by certain units (siege dying to bombards, infantry/archers being one-hit by siege onagers, cavalier being killed by halberdiers real fast), I'm sure that the mechanic would be quite impactful. Would impact water battles of Sicilians Galleys/Fireships (even Sicilian Demos) in a unique way where more Demo Ships or added firepower would be needed. That and the infamous demos killing land units would be less explosive.

Is it the steppe lancers or is it the Mongol bonus on this map? I think using any unit with advantages would have resulted in a win. The pressure would give him the ability to collect all 5 relics. I saw this as a mismatch when I saw the civs and the map.

Tatar SL are definitely better against Xbows when you get silk armor and chain barded armor. With that +3 pierce armor castle age Tatar SL can actually dive under TCs and castles
Maybe would've been good for stark to go serjeants once he had the donjon and castle.. Maybe those would've been enough to snipe the mangos and would've been ok at tanking the SL while xbows did damage. While it's fair that Mongol SL are strongest, you really shouldn't discount Cuman SL. If you have good eco you can get stupid stable numbers on the way up to castle and make a lot of them really quickly. Moreover, Cuman steppes are faster (I think). I get that it makes sense to compare SL to knights, but they really are a different unit and probably not fully figured out.
Every time I play Age, I want to go Lancer. They say it’s because my brain has cancer. All my life I’ve been waiting for , praying for a mounted Kamyuk that can spear the heads of those nerfing devs upon the steppes their eyes will spy the lancer guy. Lancer guy will make you cry because no counter stops the pokey boi. It’s not just that I like long spears, but underdogs bring me tears.
I think they really should rebalance the unit. They overnerfed them after making them OP at the start. Especially for Cumans. I also think Huns and Magyars had to get them too.
And maybe Persians and/or Turks. They should aim at giving them a specific role, like raiding. +3/+6 Attack vs. Villagers and Tradecarts and +0/+1 Pierce Armor (for Standard/Elite) combined with being available for more civs is enough for that.

Mongols have 98hp after bloodlines, 111 for elite. The others have 80hp, 90 for elite. Mongols have arguably the best steppe lancers in castle, but the worst in imperial
They lack the final armor but have more HP, so "worst" is maybe not right/situational. Against ranged units maybe, against pike/halbs I'd prefer Mongol steppe-lancers

Andies use of steplancers is not an issue, it is his ill advised manoeuvres ,splitting them up at the worst time instead of keeping them together and decimating the Sicilian army first that caused him shaky issues.
You trash Steppe Lancers a lot, but in my opinion, they're brilliant. Stack them up and drop them on the enemy with a few knights tucked in and they dominate melee battles. They even perform well against halbs if the numbers stacked.
I feel like CA has to be the counter mixed with crossbows Lancers seem geared for fighting knights more than archers, with their range and speed, just hit and run style

It just makes me vomit to see those "ultra smart, unpredictable" tactics like going archers with Sicilians... I pray for more Huskarls, Shriwnamsassaaasas, Ghulams to get rid of these pesky NO FOOD requiring, shoot and move one step, bunching together in one square cm rats, so happy devs are moving in the right direction to get rid of this cancer.
