    So, just a pro-tip that I discovered by chance after watching this video and struggling with popping the back off... if you remove the back piece from the bottom rather than the sides or top, you can use just your thumbs to pop it right up and off. Literally just get your thumbs on either side of the underside, push out and up and it comes right off. Very easy, no damage, no need for any tools.

    • @flibbertygibbette

      But also THANK YOU for making this video because it showed me what part I needed to modify my V7, and got me started with understanding that the back had to be pried off. Sorry about your thumb!

Honestly I tried to twist it originally and was thinking how the heck is it held on, watches your video, piece of cake! Your video was very easy to follow, informative and I will be upgrading mine tomorrow to Hepa. Honestly my favorite and most used vacuum ever in my life. My V7 SV11 came in the mail today and looks like is working and will only need the HEPA upgrade kit that's on the way in the mail and the plastic repaired carefully where broken on the cyclone. I'm also thinking I'll get a V6 accessories to V7 adapter so I can use the V6 tools I have. Thanks for sharing and wondering how the back of the DC56 I also have back will pop off for further testing where that one didn't come with a battery charger and I'm debating investing in one for stock potential use since the pack is still good and only discharged... or hack in a DeWalt 20V adapter or maybe hack the pack to double the number of cells or invest in some new high drain 26650 cells where that stock charger will be useful.

      Nice! For the battery situation, check out my recent video about quick change battery clip ruclips.net/video/IINl51YPMcc/видео.html (for the V6, but I will make a video for V7, V8, V10 later). This way you can use normal Dyson batteries, but extend runtime by swapping them like a drill battery. I'm also going to make a video for a charging dock for the extra batteries. Stay tuned!

    • @jafinch78
      @jafinch78 2 года назад

      @@engineerable Awesome! Will do. I wound up at this point investing in a V6, V7 and V8... breaking down and investing in the DeWalt 20V Battery to Dyson Tool Adapters I found online (Amazon & Aliexpress). Now, all that is left is the DC56 to either custom make a Dyson DC56 power supply adapter with BMS (low voltage protection) to the DeWalt 20V Battery... or I might try just leaving the five 18650 cells for now in the battery and just parallel connecting the DeWalt switchable battery connector positive and negative leads to the respective connections on the DC56 battery BMS board. I haven't gotten around to the photogrammetry to make STL's for custom homebrew adapters as I was planning. Found the adapters and was like... man... that is too easy. Thinking I might still try to do that with the DC56 since there are none to be found.
      Reads like similar with the V10's. Someone still has marked pending for me a V10 and another V6, though they haven't replied regarding shipping to me... so hopefully they don't retract their claim to ship to me as I was thinking the Kobalt 24V batteries might be better for those V10's and later... or maybe using a boost converter and low voltage protection design BMS custom adapter for using the 20V DeWalt batteries.

    Hey! Did you notice any difference with the HEPA filter in terms of air quality? Was the adapter sealed tight enough?

    • @engineerable
      @engineerable  3 года назад +2

      Absolutely, the HEPA reduces the dust smell coming from the vacuum cleaner. The adapter has a tight seal to the vacuum body. I did notice that the molded surface of the removable filter that seats onto the gasket has some ridges that could leave gaps. I sanded this surface smooth. I looked at the original Dyson filter cartridge, and it has the same ridges, and they may be even taller, creating larger gaps. Poor design by Dyson, which allows a small amount of air to bypass the filter. Practically, it's probably inconsiquential.

      "high efficiency particulate air [filter]" Filters meeting the HEPA standard must satisfy certain levels of efficiency. Common standards require that a HEPA air filter must remove-from the air that passes through-at least 99.95% (ISO, European Standard)[4][5] or 99.97% (ASME, U.S. DOE)[6][7] of particles whose diameter is equal to 0.3 μm, with the filtration efficiency increasing for particle diameters both less than and greater than 0.3 μm.[8] HEPA filters capture pollen, dirt, dust, moisture, bacteria (0.2-2.0 μm), virus (0.02-0.3 μm), and submicron liquid aerosol (0.02-0.5 μm).
