Scrap steel to Welding Cart Build DIY HOW TO

- Holds my Miller Multimatic 220 welder, Hyperthem Powermax 30xp plasma cutter, Evolution 15" chop saw and circular saw, twin 150cf tanks, and tons of welding accessories in the full extension drawer.
**Evolution Commercial Metal Cutting Saws:
7-1/4 Circular Saw s185ccsl: amzn.to/3nmaRTQ
14"/15" Chop Saw s380cps: amzn.to/38yzuZz
**Other tools I used:
Miller 220 AC/DC Welder: amzn.to/32zXPKE
Milwaukee m12 3" cutoff saw-bare tool: amzn.to/35nJoLp
Hypertherm Plasma Cutter: amzn.to/3krFpSz
THOUGHTS:
The twin tanks are the heaviest things on this(150cf each at 80lbs) and it would really be better with smaller tanks(125cf). The cart weighs around 75lbs + 160lbs welding bottles + 50lbs Miller welder + 15lbs Hypertherm Plasma cutter + 35lbs Evolution Chop saw+ 30ish lbs of misc = 350lbs. It is a lot of weight but moves easily and doesn't feel top heavy at all. I designed it in a way that I could put the welder on the bottom if I felt it was too top heavy; but I don't think that's necessary. I may even throw my old Lincoln WeldPak 100 on the bottom set up with flux core wire for those really dirty metal repair jobs. If anyone actually ever reads these thoughts, please let me know in the comments section as I may stop writing them if no one cares.
SPARK O MATIC means nothing, just thought it sounded vintage and every tool on the cart throws sparks.

I know I’m commenting 3 years later… but this welding cart is one of the best ones yet. Definitely top 5
Hey thanks
That dog is such a good girl; you are blessed to have such a friend!
She really is.
A jack of all trades, master of none, is still always better than a master of one.
The more I watch your channel the more impressed I am by your talents and abilities. Well done man. I love the little detail things you do that just round out a project, like the rounded gussets, and the handle out of a single piece of 1x1 tubing. Good stuff. Also, your dog is great.
Wow, Thanks.
Really innovative design. I haven't seen anyone incorporate storage for a 14" saw like that. Well done!
Rock N roll aint noise pollution!!!... This cart stops the clock...AWESOME!!!
Thanks
Ginger is brilliant! I'll wager the welding cart was her design too!
She got me good on those chips..... Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Great video and cart build, thank you!
Awesome painting! I had no idea you could paint like that, great job!
I just love that dog, she is so smart and well behaved!
I look forward to seeing her in your videos, thanks for including her for us!
Thank you very much!
I use about 60% of your ideas in my builds, thanks, great job!
You are one of the smartest, handiest guys on YT. I've watched quite a few of your videos and there seems to be nothing you can't do!
Wow, thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
Good job Moe, I like the new Miller!
It's a little bit of a change going from a transformer style to an inverter. MIG welding with inverter seems more fussy on dirty stuff versus the transformer seems to cut through better. However the inverter stick welder is amazingly smoother over the transformer.
Nice cart, I am so jealous at how effortlessly you painted that I can hardly see straight right now.
But then I watched your dog outsmart you so that made me feel a little better.
I have to give it to your dog.
You established terms, & came to an agreement.
However your dog came up with some sort of 3D chess move.
"Hey I agreed to leave THAT chip and pork. You didn't say anything about the rest of the bag. I called dibs after you left."
Did not expect you to have been a fine woodworking type person. You seem so efficient and pragmatic. Also did not expect you to be so artistically talented. Nice work on the welding cart!
Thanks. I designed and built custom furniture and fireplace mantles for million dollar homes for a long time. I got bored of working with wood and wanted to branch out to metal work.
@@sixtyfiveford I'm glad you did! Nothing wrong with wood of course.
The end, placing all the tools was cool. You didn't say , don't eat the bag of chips! Good dog.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. That took way to much time to make and edit. Ginger is a stickler for commands and got me good.
You've got a gift of teaching man. I just discovered ye's a week ago and blown away at your skills. I enjoy reading your thoughts so don't stop them. Such reminds me of my papa and uncle whose imaginations and design critical solutions for tools (we could obviously not afford) i.e. wrenches with crazy bends, shortened/ extended wrenches, valve spring compressing tool, three, two arm pullers, etc, etc. And my favorite of all a tire bead contraption as per > (1/4'' by 3x3 angle iron a few inches longer than a truck tire. A chain twice as long as the L . One end of the chain was fixed to one end of the iron. The other end of the chain would go over the tire and a link was set into a notch cut out of the L and secured. Now a bottle jack put in the center of the wheel and then put the middle of the L. You'd pump the jack to lift the L that would pull the chain, which would break the bead (and of course, it was all made with drops and painted real nice of course, lol. I think I used about a half a can of metallic lime Kralon on a three foot drop of L, lol. Dad would always tell us, if we didn't have it we'd make it. Seemed he'd go thru all that just so that he uncle kid around and say, it's "Injunuity" it's Injunuity that's all. Anybody read this one? Hey? Hello? Is their any body out there? My brain is fried man.
Since you bought a miller welder there's an unwritten law that I just made up that says you have to give me your lincoln lol
Doesn't someone in your family own Miller Electric? With your last name I pretty sure you can just call in and say you own the company and they'll send one right out.
@@sixtyfiveford Haha seriously!
Soon enough he will trash the beer machine and buy another miller killer lol jk those are nice machines
@@ktanner11 funny but you are You are probably right
Very nice work brother! I love the vintage inspired paint scheme. I felt it needed larger square tubing uprights but it will do the job. Well planned, well executed, great space saver! Super smart red healer! I had one for 16yrs, and I sure miss her! Keep up the great work!
Just found you... You are just tooo talented!!!
30 yrs in a steel mill... but you are now my new Weld Sensei! Great vids!!
WOW... what a smart dog... " OK I won't eat that chip but hey... it's open day on everything else " !!!! Thanks for sharing the build BTW..
Loved the Build, but mostly admired your pooch for NOT eating the BBQ laden Chip. And she's right...you said Nothing at all about the bag of chips! lol Cheers my Friend! Zip~
Yeah, she got me on a technicality this time.
Awesome dog. My dog would devour that chip in a nanosecond. A real keeper you have there
Hey thanks
Spark-O-Matic has become your trade name - it's a classy addition. Love the homage to the Gumby style claymation stop-motion final cart display/dance sequence. Ginger clearly did not take the obvious bait but wins points for finding the 'alternate' solution.
If my memory serves me correctly, (which is sometimes in doubt) back in the 60's Spark-O-Matic was the brand name of a cheap 3sp. floor shifter for guys who were really on a tight budget.
Nice cart! Getting all three of those items in one spot is great, and the tanks. Smart.
I love what you did with the paint job! I still remember the red gas can that you painted...amazing!
Edit: Also, Ginger is so sweet. It brightens my day to see you two
Thanks a million. Ginger is a blast.
I just bought the exact same machine and it is awesome so far.
Nice Cart. That multi-use welder looks like a great machine. Sure saves space. The detail of the cart I like the most is how it nests into the bench top. Neat idea.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Great looking cart. And it was great to see you adding some flare to the video and experimenting with the editing. Favorite video so far.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice. The dog at the end was worth it too.
You did an amazing job!
Love that paint scheme. What a great build.
Thanks a bunch!
Damn! Coolest welding cart I've ever seen! Great video sir!
Spectacular! So creative yet functional.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Sweet build and the pin striping WOW 🤙🏾
I built my cart very similar to that. I built mine a little taller to hold my chop saw on the bottom, Miller Thunderbolt on second shelf, and Hobart Handler 185 on top. I made room on the back for two bottles, but only have one. In the space for the second bottle I put a bracket to hang the extension cord. Has worked a dream.
I like the drawer in the bottom. The attention to detail and the paint job are exceptional. Most all of my shop furniture is bare steel. Trying to find the motivation to paint it all this spring. Wish me luck.
Awesome setup!
I don't even weld (yet) and watched it all. I liked how you used your woodworking skills on the metal. Your videos always deserve more than one thumbs up. It is funny how years ago everything included O matic as a suffix, another one was O rama. I remember my parents bowling at the Bowlorama when I was a kid.
Thanks! I wonder what the original source of the -O-..... names is. Maybe Irish? I'll have to Google it.
Love it! Awesome design.
Great job! Looks cool and all the cool personal touches give it so much life. Would love something like that in my small shop.
Thanks! 👍
Coolest Weld Cart I have ever seen, outstanding work with artistic retro look too!
Hey Thanks
Got to have one, great design and build. Bravo
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Bro, why are you so good at everything you do you must be a millionaire
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Got a ways to go.
Nice job thanks for teaching us personally I appreciate it
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
I will be using several of your ideas on my cart,, thanks
Man you’re awesome.. and you have an amazing pup. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Thanks, you too!
Such a talented guy 😊
That came out great!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
That thing is awesome man
I love the mixed video at the end.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Great project! Love it
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Very Nice Thanks for sharing
Great job, Moe! That cart should serve you well for a long time.
I hope I don't buy something else that doesn't fit and it requires me to modify it.
Whoever taught me that touching the surface I’m welding on with bare hands was a guaranteed way to receive a painful shock, clearly has led me astray. Welding will be more enjoyable now that I don’t have to work on my table like Im working on a nuclear bomb. Thanks for the video and nice pup!
Nice build... great pinstriping/lettering. Nice dog too!
Thanks, it was a fun project.
Beautiful job Bud!! Well thought out!!☺
Thanks 👍
Looks o matic good. GREAT JOB

Nice cart. Love the vintage paint and the stop-motion part near the end. Great video man.

excellent cart design!
Hey thanks
Great Job!
Thanks!
Cool build.... keep the great videos coming.
Thanks Doug
Amazing
Great job!
I love it!
Nicest one I have ever seen!
Hey thanks
Great cart build, I had to laugh at the logo, spark o matic is what we used to call the cheap car stereos bought from K-Mart back in the early 80's. I enjoyed the video.
I was originally going to do "ol sparky" but decided it wasn't tasteful. Then Weld O Matic but they're a current company making spot welders. So I combined the two and I did look it up and saw the cheap radios they used to make and figured why not.
Amazing, great job! I love watching your videos, you deserve more views and subs!
Thank you so much!
Dam nice cart build!👍👍
Hey thanks
Brilliant
Nicely done, sir.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Nice work!!
Hey Thanks.
I built one using a serving cart used on airplanes. Nice job!
Came out good! Ginger is good dog!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Excellent!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Sweet job
Hey Thanks Man.
It is not fair that you have that much talent and skill. Please send some my way. Best welding cart I have seen. Absolutely perfect for sure. Those saws are fabulous. Thanks for the video.
Wow, thanks!
Nice Job! I like it.
Thanks!
Spark-O-Matic made radios speakers and transmission shifters, I have a nos auto shifters I just put in a homemade small engine rail drag cart. Too Cool.
fantastic video even my wife liked it
Thanks Man. She must be a great wife.
Smartest dog on RUclips. ☺️
Wow, thank you!
Very nice hand paint job!!!
Thanks Man.
Pimp purple Ford Escort... Welding cart is pretty cool too!
Nice job!!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I was a fun project.
👍 great work
Thanks man. I'm glad you liked it.
That turned out great. Most of the carts they sell there to low down.
Thanks. I'm l really liking it at this height. It is heavy though with 2 gas bottles.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice!!!!!
Thanks!!
That Dog..... LOVE!
She got me good this time.
Nice job 👍
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Nice cart!
Thanks!
Nice custom built Welding Cart!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it
Awesome
Nice build
I'm glad you like it
Well done
Hey Thanks.
New here but as soon as I saw you welding with no gloves, hood or ,safety glasses I knew I was in the right place
Give it a couple years and everyone will insist you need to work behind a 3-in thick metal shield with an optical viewing screen.
@@sixtyfivefordright, like how else am I supposed to get a nice tan in the winter?
Uhhmazin job bro!!!👍👍
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Spark-o-matic was an inexpensive brand of auto radios back in the day (before your time, I expect). Amazing dog for sure, Moe. Really nice design on the welder cart and amazing art work.
I was originally going to name it Old Sparky(electric chair) but thought it may be distasteful. Then I chose Weld-O-Matic but they are a current company selling spot welders. So I mixed both of those names name and Googled it. I saw they were out of business and the name worked, so I took it on myself to make it my own.
@@sixtyfiveford Great! An appropriately vintage name...
