  • This is a short movie that I put together for a project. It shows clips of the 1984 Soviet parade commemorating the 67th anniversary of the October Revolution of the Bolsheviks.
    The song is Hans Zimmer's Crimson Tide Main Theme.

    Contrary to what westerners think, most of USSR citizens didn't want the country to fall apart in strive for ''freedom''...There was a referendum in 1991, and almost all republics had majority of people voting for staying in USSR, except Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and another one from central Asia, not sure which one. And there will be new USSR sooner or later, it just wont be communist and wont be called USSR. But everything is going in the direction that Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and more smaller republics would form a new state. Its just natural.

    • @mishaparem
      @mishaparem 9 лет назад +2

      Kamfrenchie You mean like the cultural difference between union states and confederate states? You mean like the cultural differences of Tartars and Russians who have lived together for hundreds of years? Contrary to popular belief, with some exceptions such as the tzarist "whites" post-revolution, neither Imperial nor Soviet Russia oppressed minorities. In the process of integration, some of the countries conquered in WW2 were oppressed, but it would be foolish to expect the people of a conquered country to submit without grumbling or protest. All of the cultures in Russia have always been valued for their diversity. Unlike USA which insisted on exterminating the Native American population, Russian colonists traded with Siberian natives, and then with Native Americans up and down the Alaskan territories (including as far south as California). To this day, there are still people in Siberia that live in igloos, and a life reminiscent of ancient Siberian native, granted they have better guns for hunting, better fishing rods for fishing, steel tools to assist in carving out fishing holes in ice, etc. There is still a huge amount of ethnic Tartars throughout Russia, despite their horde being defeated centuries ago. Even in Soviet times, my father recalls Stalin ordering some ethnic group (can't recall what it was called) relocated because they were being descriminated against. Some may call it exile, but if you recieved compensation, a new house, and basically an entire village to live amongst like-minded people without discrimination, surely that would be better than shedding blood to prove a point?
      The West has a tendency to judge Russian actions by Western history of ethnic genocide, and racial discrimination. I had a few Russian friends who varied in their ethnicity, and they would constantly harrass each other for their differences, but at the end of the day, they would fight for one another, as did all the ethnic groups of the USSR in WW2.

As an American - I have realized how much of Her absence has made America become a dysfunctional and political ebb. I respect the Motherland - She made the 80's a true and proud time to be American. American Leaders teach and taught lies - The USSR made that clear to I as a child. The modern day pinnacle of dedicated soldaten - Long Live The USSR!!

    I’m American but for some reason I’ve always had a gravitational pull and longing for Russia.
    I have know earthly idea why either.
    I don’t know a thing about Putin either but he just looks like a man’s man.
    It makes know sense because I don’t even have a clue about their culture.
    Maybe a long line of genetics or something?
    My blood line supposedly migrated from Eastern Europe a few hundred years ago or so the dinner time stories were told.
    Side note:Most people think Russian has the harshest sounding accent in modern language. Again, I’m polar opposite to that view. Russian is my favorite sounding language and accent.

    2019 CE and still a worthy tribute piece of the Soviet military.
    I was born in 1989 CE AD I grew up in the 1990s and the 2000s which was the times after the Soviet Union had collapsed in 1991 CE indirectly taking with the United States (which the US had "won" the cold war but in reality nobody did and everybody went on with life). The post-cold war 1990s and 2000s were the economic restructuring hard times for everybody especially to those in Southeast Asia. Despite media portrayal during the 90s our world back then was full of bad things in the bad reality. Socially and ideologically. Racially outside of the United States.
    The good things were the end of potential global nuclear war, more economic opportunities (despite bad long-term decisions), and new technology, sciences, discoveries, among everything else.
    New technology had improved chances of getting jobs and getting paid better. New technology had brought the gaming and computer and film industries to ... I am sorry for my ramblings.
    I cannot judge but I could comment that the US and the USSR were military strongmen that not kept the life's bad realities in media blackouts but, at least in my view, kept the peace and gradually actually proactively tried to ensure the areas were stable enough. Despite the earned negative reputations of both powerhouses. Nobody is perfect. We should not forget the past either.

      PoWaaPoNy You cannot build a successful economic model if you insist on executing independent thinkers and imprisoning creative minds. The enormous totalitarian apparatus is a monolith that will crush the rest of the economy. The military industrial complex prospers at the expense of the rest of the economy. A repressive environment breeds a resentful population that is only too willing to get their own back at a government they despise. Original thinking is discouraged and the economy stagnates. That is part of the reason why Communism failed.

    • @mooncat5726
      @mooncat5726 9 лет назад +2

      Trollsif Stalin It is just we need not the totalitarian model of communism. Don't forget, it was never built in Russia successfully, so even though we had totalitarian regime it doesn't mean that communism has to be this way. I think if first we build successful socialism then we can give a try to communism once again. And the idea of "perfect" communism is no way that creative minds are imprisoned.
      But I do not see how it can work if the government is not interested in that, they live too well under capitalism. And for that goal we will need people devoted to the idea. Communist party is not really a strong competitor, they are just puppets of the ruling party.
      I don't know, I still think that even though communism might be too idealistic it is still good thing to try to build. Or just good socialism would already be good for Russia.

      Actually the peak was in the mid 70s probably...before the economic stagnation set in (indeed Soviet economy was growing quicker than west until about 1973 but started from a far lower base), before Afghan war, and finally the collapse, USA was also humiliated at the time after Vietnam and would soon take an economic hit (although end up recovering within a few years), also USSR at that time probably had more allies around the world than before or after. Though Putin may not recover actual territory, if he wins in Ukraine some of Russia's power/influence will be restored above and beyond pre-invasion, especially once the countries applying sanctions get pressure to lift sanctions to help their own economies.

    Even though the Soviet Union did turn totally revisionist after the death of Stalin, the USSR still had a massive military and a massive arsenal of weapons that sure did stop the Western imperialists in their tracks. But, unfortunately, ever since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Western imperialist countries have been going on a killing spree in countries like Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. The imperialists are doing this because there is no more Soviet Union (which was the beacon and the pride of the working class everywhere) to keep them awake at night anymore, so they feel that they can kick the boot in.

    The Soviet Union is a timeless masterpiece of loyalty personified eternally by a People that largely ascertain the knowledge of the lies and deceit that are embodied in every star on the American flag ..... the truth beholds that when the Soviet Union existed in establishment - it made for Americans to feel true meaning in being American - now in Her absence America is ubiquitously embedded in internal political/economic chaos. The Red Star is the pinnacle of pristine HONOR! Long Live The USSR!
