jaelzion - yes, but keep in mind that dancing variations in competitions isn't the same as performing on stage. She lost her passion, but I am wondering. Maybe dancing in corps after all these years of success doing ballerina variations was a bit of a letdown.
@@janglass8219 You are probably right, I guess then maybe she never truly did. Still, consider this - she was very successful in all the competitions, danced many adult variations, got all the accolades for being great. Then, she ended up in corps and not even a first tier theater, mightn't have even be the best there given as students from top ballet academies don't even go to competitions. She could've easily not liked it.
@@janglass8219 Nah, it honestly sucks to be stuck doing corps stuff when you know you can do so much more - except there can only be a few people doing the big solos that you work tirelessly to do some day.
I have read on another ballet social media page that it wasn't really Miko's passion at all but her mother's, and that her Tiger Mom mother was pushing her to live out her own unfulfilled ballet dreams. I am guessing that Miko got to her late teens and finally managed to push back.
if she did this at 14, she would’ve totally gotten gold or silver. it’s because she was at the very bottom of her age category. it’s hard for a 12 year old to compete against 14 year olds. but it’s still an accomplishment that she got bronze!!👏🏼👏🏼
Miko, you are amazing. You are a great part of the Russian ballet. Despite the young age you have showed the dance but not sport as many dancers usually do now. You have showed the real classic dance. Thank you very much
@@jessicasharpe1925 I think it depends on the definition of a sport. Ballet certainly has the same physical demands, but it's not about winning competitions even if Miko Fogarty's whole career was in them and she left ballet after a year in corps. I think - and it's just a guess - that what the original commenter meant was that a lot of dancers today make it about how high they can jump or lift their legs and ignore artistry, while she showed it.
arielle carrillo The girl who won the Grand Prix was actually a Japanese kid who was 12. Miko did really well though, it's just that it was the yagp and the competition was tough.
Kitri variation is my favourite, and I have watched sooo many girls perform this and yours is by a mile the best! so much passion, fire, and absolute strength! I want to dance exactly like you!
stella-anna Tsantilas The dancer who won gold was much older than Miko. Miko said in an interview before the awards that she thought she wasn't even going to place.
I remember watching this in First Position back in 2010 and being in awe. I look up to you so much and can't wait to see you in Don Q on an opera house stage someday!
The dancing would be beautiful, but all I could think watching it was how emaciated she looks here. It is not a healthy look for anyone, but especially not a growing girl. Perhaps I react particularly strongly because I suffered from an eating disorder myself for years, also because of being in a highly competitive and demanding sport. I hope in the future to see less pressure being put on athletes and dancers to maintain an unhealthy weight, but sadly the reverse trend seems to be happening, especially for women. It makes me happy to see that in subsequent years, Miko looked much better-- healthy and radiant. She dances beautifully!
Jessamyn Rising She does eat. I think her mother does not allow her to eat a lot of sweets, since she wants her to keep her shape. Her mother wants Miko to eat healthy, and Miko herself says that she needs a lot of food to dance, and that it is impossible to dance without the nutrients. [Watch "First Position", I got all the information from the movie ;)]
Jessamyn Rising I completely see your point, however, take into consideration that for some people that is just their natural physic. For example, more than once people thought that I was anorexic because I am as skinny as Miko is here, but I eat ice-cream, chocolate, sweets, steak- the lot! Some people just have a well built metabolism. And I agree, the improvement from age 11 to 12 is astounding, and she is for sure my no.1 inspiration.
I dance ballet for my in tier life , I just have to say this is ridicules , we are athlete and we eat a lot ,you have no idea how much energy we loose while dancing, how come can someone get heavy. ?she is only 12, I look like that when I was 12 too and now she's 18, she looks like a woman.
All theese comments are right. But that doesn't mean that watching her now shouldn't make me less uncomfortable than watching her in this video. Because it just happens
Urban Flower was performed twice. once with the judeges and the second was for the film. that why when you look at urban flower on youtube she doesn't fall.
I wondered the same thing it was a picture of the sleep though that she just was absolutely phenomenal sometimes better than a lot of adults and I wondered why did she just get third place, that's a very good question?!
Miko truly had something special. I totally respect her right not to continue dancing professionally but I can't help feeling like it's our loss.

dance is most defiantly a sport
@@kyra.brianne the physical demands it requires on your body makes it a sport and an art form.

12?!? Wow....what were the gold and silver medallists like!
they probably just had better feet
im pretty sure shes one of the youngest in her category, so they probably had more mature movement

How old was the dancer that won gold?
12, but from Japan. The other people who placed higher than Miko were 13 and 14.
One year later she was the gold medallist with the same dance stella-anna Tsantilas.

Wauuuuuw! That is FRIst time I see such a young girl perform such an amazing

I think Miko at this age was far more passionate about ballet than she was at 16 although her techniques were a lot better
I feel like no one does single double at the end except her. WHICH IS SO GOOD
Absolute inspuration. I look these everyday before my ballet class.
I'm in love with this
Oh my goodness! This is the adorable girl on that one documentary! :O She's so talented.

Her mom was too obsessed with competitions. That exhausted the poor girl and ended up quitting ballet.

Gorgeously talented, technically and expressively. When her legs get stronger, she will lose the strain in her shoulders , she has at times.

Mireczko, a ja witam Cię w poniedziałkowy poranek. Życzę udanego dnia:))))
Ooo.. ojczyzna wszędzie :)
I certainly hope she went on to ABT or some other company. Unbelievable for 12.
Nice!
In the turns at the end, you can see her almost struggling to put her foot into fifth - better than I would have done!
No actually she doesn’t struggle. Sorry.
she used to go to my ballet school
진짜 차별화된 발레다 발레라는 고전문학에서 올바르게 잘 벗어난 좋은 작품!!!!

This was posted like a phew months after my birth
Ok?
OMG!!!
옷 개이뻐 ㅠㅠ 진짜
Awesome ^_^
Just Oh my god ! *-*
One of her best... in pretty sure mojo hit a stale mate cause I've seen her attempting triples at 16 that were spotless at 13
