    This drill by the Jukebox was more complex than most realize. Degree of difficulty was max level. After the big circles becomes huge diamonds they then start the diamond drill.
    Instead of the traditional step 2 off of the line, four members leave the line together then spread to the step 2. This continues until the last 8 leaves the line together. Awesome and new. Never done before.
    This diamond drill is so fluid, lines straight as a needle and executed perfectly.
    This was a brand new drill by the Jukebox and easily the most complex and difficult drill of the night.

    Anybody that says this band can't play is crazy. Their power combined with a great sound is amazing. They are better in the stands than on the field though (standard fare for SWAC bands). Their marching style makes for great designs but all the instrument turning dilutes the sound. Once they stand still, the sound is amazing. The dolls are gorgeous and can dance but their on-field dance routines are too short. They need to be incorporated in more of the show. They def have the best on field drum major amongst HBCU's.

    • @brandontillery100

      Their dance routines are just fine. Nobody needs to be dancing for two plus minutes. That's when the energy begins to die.

    • @Avery-Mac

      @@brandontillery100 I can agree with that. I would still like to see them incorporated in more of the show.

      Understand that Marching bands should march, not just to a spot in a pre design, turn to the stand and play a tune. May as well bring your chairs on the field.
      Precision drilling takes athleticism and stamina.
      This band covers the entire field all while their members are high stepping, up tempo whip turning and playing their instruments.
      Picture show PWI style bands are good, but their members really doesn't break a sweat to be honest. You can track their members and they hardly cover a 10 yard radius.
      Degree of difficulty matters. If a Jr high school band can do your show, it's degree of difficulty is low.

    • @Avery-Mac
      @Avery-Mac Год назад

      @neauxluh6545 I agree bands should march. I think though there needs to be a balance between drilling and the sound. The sound gets lost when you turn the horns every which a way. That's why corps style bands have such great sound. They do complex drills but have learned how to keep the horns basically in the same direction. I love the designs that HBCUs do but with all the horn turning the sound gets lost. Bands should def not stand and play on the field though.

    • @cinemuh
      @cinemuh Год назад

      @@Avery-Mac what you say about horns being turned every which way is misleading. We can still understand what the band is playing while doing these high degree of difficulty drills in motion patterns.
      Corp style band does not do precision drills, they do stationary designs that expand and retract and are low degree of difficulty. Members hardly cover a 15 yard radius. Also corp style bands playing to 1 side if the field also have a distorted sound. It's distorted to people sitting to ther right, left and rear of them. So why leave those spectators out? It's as if they ignore every one who's not sitting on the home side directlyin front of them.

      @@drich4665 their drill did nothing but rotate outer edges of a formation, which looked oddly similar to the last BOTB they were seen in. And I think they did the same or similar when they marched in California.
      You’re right about the sound.
      Top band positions are only reserved for the schools that actually did WORK during their drill. Langston would’ve pulled up on NSU if the sound was there.

    • @pcorn613
      @pcorn613 Год назад

      @@anthonyphillips7374my sentiments exactly! NSU is my favorite because everything is ALWAYS balanced. Plus, NSU field shows are designed to keep the sound directly in front of the audience. While they're all excellent, most bands in the deep south sound like brass bands. They may as well eliminate woodwinds because you can't hear them. Southern's volume is indeed undeniable!
