- Instruction video for installing the latest AMD graphic drivers on to your Lenovo Legion GO. I have tried to future proof this video indicating where certain filenames might change in the future and how to pick the correct ones.

That's great news, bought forbidden West late last night. The only side effect will likely be no fps value in your overlay, and sadly amd fluid motion frames won't work on portrait frames (although if you dock it to an external monitor and have all output go there it will work)

OMG I just updated just aus you did in the video and now all games are looking fantastic, I didn't understand why darktide with everything off and lowest settings it just looked shit and wasn't running properly all games were looking terrible. My system legion space everything is updated my adrenaline was updated but nothing was running properly. This video was amazing man can't believe how smooth it's all playing with alot of settings on quality 🎉

i got my go yesterday. After a few hours of set up and downloads, apex and the finals started crashing, i changed vram from 3gb to 6gb in the bios and it fixed the crashing on both games. That was great but I was bummed that lenovo wasnt giving us up to date drivers. I wanted to see how well frame gen performed on the games that i played and the adrenaline software that lenovo offers, is pre frame gen. Either way cuz u exist we got it done. You gave me so much hours of fun u have no idea. TY!
Thanks. Although last I tried frame gen doesn't work on the go as it is a native portrait screen. It will work if you connect an external monitor and output to that. Believe lenovo are working on a fix for it

I just got a legion go this week and it didnt have the amd settings but already had the amd software app. Idk if i should still uninstall it and reinstall it this way or not worry about it.

Mine doesn’t have the Amd settings , just Amd software
I don't think I've ever had to do this for any device... You should just be able to just install the new ones and or boot into safe mode with DDU and let it full clean your system.
Okay so it's been 11 hours since you posted this video so how is it holding up and is there any changes that you see in the graphics or whatever? Let me know ✌️
The game is playable, but I found that fsr3 with frame generation is still stuttering, turning frame generation off resulted in it playing smoothly at between 30-40 fps. Taa seems to have higher frame rates.

When the new version comes out (if you are still on the drivers direct from amd, I would suggest trying to download them and run the installation. Hopefully it should just work. Otherwise, follow the steps in this video paying attention to the bits where I say the .Inf file may be named differently and the directory starting with B might be named differently and it should be fine
This didn't work for me, it will prompt steam to open, but then games won't (it will trigger the opening sequence but will utlimately fail). Any idea why?
Can you run amd adrenaline and see if it works. If it doesn't it sounds like the driver hasn't installed properly. Also make sure you've rebooted after installing

can you do a video on how to install the original lenovo drivers back? I had to do a reset to get them back, which is time consuming.
I'll do a video on that shortly, had to work out the correct steps first (so that you get the correct amd adrenaline software back as well)

Thanks, FC24 still don’t work tho, got fed up of trying to get this game to load… the only part I couldn’t do in this vid was when you deleted the AMD file from C Drive, mine keeps saying the file can’t be deleted as it’s open, on task manager I checked what processing is running and end all task that had the name AMD in it but still wouldn’t let me delete the AMD file, weird
I purchased the gpd g1 so technically i could use this guide but for the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT? Which is what the gpd g1 uses. Apparently the z1 extreme doesnt play nice right?
I've heard that because they are both amd cards you will have to swap drivers to the 7600m when connected to the gpd g1 and then swap back when lenovo is disconnected from the gpd
@HandheldGamingFan that's going to be a pain....maybe I'll get lucky and those drivers will work in handheld only mode? Make it plug and play. What you think?
@portersmith5197 I hope so, but just saying what I heard about not coexisting. Maybe it could work if device manager detects both graphics cards and you steer clear of using adrenaline while plugged, I don't know though

Installed this driver. But now I’m stuck on the highest resolution setting. Can no longer switch to others resolution setting though the legion software.
That's odd, try restarting and if it still persists go back to the lenovo drivers. This didn't happen for me and its one of the risks of using a driver that hasn't been tested on the Go. Very strange though
Is it recommended to keep Adrenaline running while the computer is on?
Normally I wouldn't have adrenaline running. Just use it to change settings occasionally so I close it after

Is this AMD drivers must have? Bc I’m getting the legion go next week and I’ll be mostly playing games like dark souls 1-3, RDR2, Witcher 3, cyberpunk and yakuza to mention a few. I want to know if only to update the bios to change it to 6g
So, you will want to update the bios, update the amd drivers but not to the latest amd drivers but the latest official lenovo graphics drivers (available on the same website as the bios) then you can go into the bios and set to 6gb

Which device do you like best im trying to decide between the rog ally, steam deck or Lenovo go ?
My personal preference is the legion go because of its big screen. I loved the rog ally and other than the overheating sd card reader issue the only thing I wanted was a bigger screen.

@@HandheldGamingFan Yeah, the screen not even 1/4 inch or 1/2 cm from being 9 inches is really nice. The thermals also seem good on it, which is better for the micro sd card. I never realized until I looked it up, but there's no micro sd cards I could find that was rated over 85°c

I'm getting issue with AMD Adrenaline software.. when I update to the newest AMD driver I get an error message saying "AMD software is not compatible with your currently installed graphics driver"
Tried everything I can think of from reinstalling both the software and the drivers.. can't have them running at the same time.
same issue I got after updating to 780m driver
I have seen two entries in the list for 780m in the past, make sure you pick the one that says 780m graphics not just 780m. That's about the only thing I can think of I'm afraid

I've followed everything showed in your video and everything went smoothly, but when i restarted my lenovo and checked my driver it was still showing my original update and not the newer version ?
Not sure what could have happened if you had followed all the steps, unless it had already been upgraded but that seems unlikely
I don't see amd settings on the list just the amd app...can I just skip this step?
Try it without doing this step, but I think you could uninstall the amd app instead

If I do all this- will it throw me off in the future with Lenovo releases updated graphics drivers? Sorry- don’t know much about drivers and such.
Swapping these drivers back and forth is a little tricky. I've done videos on how to go back to original drivers too, but honestly unless you really really want to play a specific game that needs the latest drivers don't do it.
Hi! AMD Released new drivers I believe the other day. Will this guide work with that or will you be making a new one? :)
So I tried to make the instructions as generic as possible, the two things that might change (but should be in the same places) is the name of the .inf file, so there should be an inf file but the number will be different. The other thing is in that folder the directory I show that starts with B may change as well, but if you go into it and look for the cc install file and its there all should be good. I did this exact process on my rog ally a day or two ago and nothing unexpected cropped up

@@Amatoren I've not had much success with lossless, but really need to give it a better try out, others swear by it. Until Fluid motion frames works on the GO, that would be the best option. I've been testing fluid motion frames on the Ally and I'm really impressed with it.
Why delete those things first? Is it just to get a fresh install? And did you delete both graphic drivers and the Adrenalin software?
It's to try and get as fresh an install as possible. Plus to stop prompts about overwriting an existing file.
I don't have AMD setting. I have, amd chipset software, amd software and another amd software?

Since the video the ordering has changed, there should be a 7840u. Also make sure you have chosen the processor with graphics option on the left
Can i directly download it from Microsoft store?
You can download the amd adrenaline software from the Microsoft store, think I put a link to it in the video description
its telling me AMd is open in another program cant be deleted any solution ?
On the task bar on the right look for an up arrow type symbol click on that and see If there is a red adrenalin symbol active. Right click on that close it. Other than that make sure no other windows are open

At what point are you getting this error? You need to follow the video exactly. I think there are two entries for 780m when you are selecting in the device manager make sure you select the one with graphics in the name.
Why do we need to install cc thing, just asking because last time I followed some guy on RUclips I broke my PS4, don't want that to happen to my new legion go im getting this Wednesday
Firstly don't change to the latest amd drivers unless there is a game you really want to play that requires it. The cc install is to install the adrenaline software for the driver we've downloaded. So you can tweak graphic card settings if you need to (rarely need to do so)
@@HandheldGamingFan I'm gonna need them graphics drivers trust me, I gonna play High on life on there wen It gets delivered... I remember I never updated my graphics drivers on my laptop in tried to play games or even high on life in It didn't look that great, so yea I'm updating
@LeonteSimmons yeah thought it would be best to advise against non official drivers if you've had a bad experience in the past. I've gone back and forth between latest and official lenovo with next to no problems (one issue I have is the legionspace overlay never displays fps anymore but I can live with that)

I don't own a 6800u device but if you find out what the gpu is on that and download those drivers instead of the 780m ones and pick the correct driver in the device manager the steps should be similar

@@HandheldGamingFan the chipset driver it is asking me to update is from 2023/12/14 I do the restart after the install but then when I re open the legion space app it is still there.
So is are these drivers the same as the beta drivers released the other week but are now official?
Kinda sucks that the drivers don't auto update like Nvida cards do running GeForce experience :/
No these are amds latest drivers. They will eventually make it into the lenovos beta graphic drivers then in to the official lenovo drivers

Well i've cocked something up... I have now lost Adrenaline and it won't install... also, when trying to update the driver I didn't see 780m in my device manager but all the same the .ini file wasn't selectable when browsing for the updated driver... you could see the file when using Explorer but couldn't see it when trying to load it and although check sub folders was checked it return a drivers are up to date message.@@HandheldGamingFan
