A "Staked" Three-Legged Stool: Woodturning a Plant Stand

  • I made a three-legged plant stand out of Cherry and Maple using staked furniture techniques. I used a lathe to turn the seat and the legs and bored holes at the drill press. I wedged the tenons to secure them into the seat mortises.

William, really happy to see you’ll be posting more again! I watch a lot of woodworking on RUclips but I’ve always loved your channel for the artistic and relaxed nature of the videos while still imparting lots of woodworking knowledge. I’m glad you took the time you needed and can fully appreciate that, but it’ll be good to have you back making more videos. I’m interested in anything you’ll put out, but especially if you had a video summarizing your preferred wood finishes and when and why you use them, I think that would be super valuable. Thanks for all you do!

I am still in the process of working on that timberframe. I had stalled when I got to a point I needed some lifting equipment to tackle it by myself but I think I've sourced some duct lifts to help me. I was going to do a series on the timberframe but it's a big job for just one guy so I opted to just get to work. I might do a tour of it when I'm done and break down the joinery of how I did everything.
