Hospitals should be built with a 'STAFF WING' for emergencies like this, or for when they have serious incidents when they require staff to stay on site. It's a disgrace to make them sleep in the conference room on the floor, especially when they work such long hours. In the UK there are places in the hospital .. usually unused wings, where staff can sleep.
As a future Nurse...I would be way to focused on my patients probably to sleep or care about my accommodations. The patients need rooms for emergencies.
@@eaglesc the only problem with that is if it starts flooding because of a hurricane or related storm that would kill all of the staff that slept underground that couldn't get out
@@bugga179 Hospitals are huge, an extra wing wouldnt hurt especially in areas like Florida where emergencies like this are common. There's nothing wrong with concerning yourself with you to make sure you're at 100% and not sleep deprived.
In the U.S specifically, the number 13 is considered very unlucky, so builders purposely omit a 13th floor from not only hospitals but any building going up that high, in order to avoid “catastrophic” events! 😌
Which makes no sense. Yeah, they didn't put the number 13 on the floor or any of the elevators, etc., but it's still there. The "14th" floor is the 13th in disguise.
It's an interesting experience. We went outside during Irma and it was kinda neat. But thankfully it didn't hit my area of Florida as hard as it was supposed to.
My mom is an APRN at that same hospital (I’m not going to mention it because of your privacy) third floor east and my auntie is an RN on the seventh floor. They were both working there during the hurricane as well. I love the women and children hospital they built (about two years ago).
Omg the hand washing station in the NICU!!i can't wait to work with the babies! And it looked like a huge sleepover. I know Irma did damage but the hospital looked fun.
That sound against the windows was so terrifying! It is so cool that you were able to help out those in need during this scary time! Lol good thing you didn't say anything to that girl with the pillow 😂😂 omg the shower story... 🤢🤢
Glad you made it out safe I'm about 2 hours south of you made it through safely as well. The only downside is I had to reschedule my nursing school entrance exam but no biggie just gives me more time to study!
I had my twins at 31 weeks at Florida hospital for women during Irma:( dam hurricane made me go into labor. They spent 50 days on the 4th floor but they are healthy 10 month olds now !
Im on the relief squad at my rehab center where i work at so luckily i didnt have to be at work during the hurricane i got to stay home with my puppy, but if you do have the option always pick relief (unless you want to work during a hurricane) because then you dont have to spend the night at your place of work, you just have to come in after the hurricane and help with the clean up.
I'm 15 but I already know I want to be a pediatric nurse! I just can't wait to go to college & get life started. High schools ok but I feel like I'm way too mature for everyone there 🙁☺️( I have friends but I feel like our priorities are just so different, ya know?)
I feel. Enjoy your time in high school, but you can also get ahead and enroll in some dual enrollment classes or maybe there's a specialty high school that has nursing classes.
So glad you're safe and I hope you've recovered with sleep and stuff from that experience:( I love your videos- I'm a junior in HS and I am pretty set on becoming a pediatric nurse. So thank you!! Same here, other people's hair is that one thing for me too *ew*!! So glad you're safe!! ❤️
I did 84 hours at my hospital in North Florida 😬 and I agree it's oddly fun even with not that great of sleep(im night shift) and weird shower arrangements that I would still do it again.
found your channel. and you have me sooo excited to start my nursing career. i’m only 15 however, i plan to start taking dual classes so i can get my associates early !
just got accepted to college, praying my nursing program goes great. can't wait to have these adventures.😂 thanks nook for the motivational vids.🎶🕊 And Heey Ariel
I am the president of student organization at my school and I recently started a Hurricane relief collection to send out to Florida and Texas. We are trying to contact different nursing schools to send extra supplies that we may have along with non perishable food and gently worn clothing. I am happy your safe and this was a great Vlog... I cant wait till you ACE your NCLEX
I'm going to school for lpn right now and have plans in a couple years to get my RN of course. I'm just so glad I found your channel!! You're so motivating girl. & I'm so glad you showed us a website for super cute scrubs! Literally obsessed now. lol 😍❤️😘
I live in Tallahassee and the hurricane wasn't that bad, Thank God! The only thing that happen was the power being out. Glad you made it through your first hurricane lock down. :)
this is like the third video that i have watched of yours and i didn’t know until now that you worked at that hospital i was their for decompression surgery february 23rd 2017 and i was so happy to be at that hospital and not another one it was truly the best
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!❤️💕 I’m 19 and I’m currently taking some of my pre-recs before I begin nursing school in April. Seeing a beautiful grown women work her nursing magic and live a healthy lifestyle inspires me so much you have NO idea. Thank you ❤️🌸💕
Hurricane Irma was the scariest thing I’ve EVER encountered. Our house sounded like it was gonna break down. My mom had to stay at the hospital too. She’s an RN. You weren’t the only one terrified all night lol I’m with you !
I’m soooo determined to become a nurse, but I’m just trying to wait till after I have my daughter in February to start taking classes. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m definitely willing to put in the hard work and time to be a nurse... such a rewarding job💯❤️
I love your channel and I'm glad you are safe, that is one crazy experience I can also relate, being stuck at work for 36 hours during a snow storm back when I was in Illinois. Rest up girl! 💜
We frequently get blizzards out here in the Midwest which makes it hard for us commuters and when I tell you we will risk it ALL before trying to stay in a "snow bed"..... lol
omg i loved this!! this makes me so excited for what's to come when i become a nurse.(i dont mean to offend anyone during the hurricane.)i love how u all have a serious job but you all seem caring and sweet. Like when ur coworker brought and made pancakes for your team. Also the dog picture u inserted. lol. But i heard that the top of high buildings naturally shake but that doesn't mean they're going to necessarily collapse. Someone once to me that once idk tho, i would've bee. looking just as scared as that dog.
I live in Fort Lauderdale and had to stay during Irma as well (RN). THe area I was in had multiple tornadoes and uprooted trees and flooding everywhere. It was crazy
Wow i worked labor and Delivery for ten yrs. As a tech, i never had to stay for lockdown!!! You're a trouper, i can't do elevator and fourteen floors would freak me out!! Sending prayers to you and coworkers. Stay safe!!!🙏😉😘
If you’re working this week can you do another hurricane blog? I loved this I know it sucks but just seeing the experience and staying at the hospital and all that looks fascinating to me 😩😩😩😭😭😭
Girl I love your videos!!😊 I'm So glad you're okay, and that you were able to make a memorable experience out of this hurricane. & You're so inspiring girl! Yasss! Keep them videos coming 🙌🏻
I just found your channel and im in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m starting my actual nursing classes in like a month and I’m so nervous that I’m not going to do well, but you have inspired me❤️❤️❤️ thanks so much
I’m not sure if you’ll read this but I’ll try! I truly loved your video. What’s more insane is that this video popped up on my RUclips feed and your face looked so familiar. And then when I began watching the video I realized, we went to middle school together! We were in the same 7th grade class I remember at MS 172. I’m pretty sure my memory is correct, I do apologize if I’m wrong. Regardless, I loved this video and will subscribe! Rooting for you!
I was locked in the hospital while i was pregnant with my daughter was supposed to hve my baby That day but no doctor was there so i had to wait i call my baby #Baby Erma lol
I watch your videos for inspiration I’m a freshmen in college I have about a year and a half before being able to apply to nursing school and i am soooo excited!!! Thank you for your videos and wish me luck!!!💕😁😁
I know this is a bit late since this video is well over a year old, but I’m interested in the medical field and I was wondering what a hospitals dress code is over tattoos and piercings, I’m really into that stuff and for me I don’t really want a lot of stuff but I just want like 2 or 3 meaningful tattoos and some simple piercings like my nose and a few ear piercings

I wish they had that everywhere
"this building is built to break" lmao
This is so dope lol I know hurricanes are bad but this experience is insane.

Good luck with your NCLEX I know you can do it!
Irma was crazy the winds were by far the scariest they did so much damage. Good thing you were around people who made the situation light.
It’s draining working in the hospital during storms, but the staffs & ceo makes it so fun while there.
YAY, IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VLOG!!
Hurricane Irma was the scariest thing I’ve EVER encountered. Our house sounded like it was gonna break down. My mom had to stay at the hospital too. She’s an RN. You weren’t the only one terrified all night lol I’m with you !

I live in Florida and my sister was born in that hospital! She was in the NICU for 2 months
This excites me. Hospital life on the nurse's end looks so fun. I want to go to school for nursing!
We frequently get blizzards out here in the Midwest which makes it hard for us commuters and when I tell you we will risk it ALL before trying to stay in a "snow bed"..... lol
Could you do a video on men in Nursing?
I am so glad you made it through girl!!
I love her videos so much!💜
Kendall Hildreth thank you 😊😊💕💕💕💕
I never experienced a hurricane or tornado
That wind thooo I’d be hella scared! OMG at the shower at work dilemma LOL😖

Congratulations on graduating nursing school! Nurses who have worked as techs make amazing nurses. Werrrrrq
I live in Fort Lauderdale and had to stay during Irma as well (RN). THe area I was in had multiple tornadoes and uprooted trees and flooding everywhere. It was crazy
Great video. I’m very happy your safe. My mom had to stay at the hospital for 3 days during Hurricane Harvey
If I heard that noise agents the glass I Would evacuate the
Room and go sleep in a closet.
I was in winter park to and we lost power at 3pm before the hurricane even hit
I had my orientation in the room you were sleeping in.
I volunteered at that hospital a day before the storm hit and i'm about to go to the same school that you did (seminole I think).

Hotels don’t have 13th floors either. Guess they don’t want to deal with people not wanting to work/stay on that floor lol
Ok but the room you were all sleeping in looks cozy af
That little 'sleepover' looked so fun
Wow !!! Great update ! Glad you are safe !
it’s cool bc i was only about 2 hours away from you during this time. it’s interesting to see this from a hospitals pov
I just found your channel and im in love ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m starting my actual nursing classes in like a month and I’m so nervous that I’m not going to do well, but you have inspired me❤️❤️❤️ thanks so much
That noise on the window is like SPINE CHILLING
This hurricane tool a whole plywood off of the Windows I legit thought I was gonna die. I was I'm broward county btw
Annie Jose and we only got Hurricane force 1 winds. Imagine if we got hit with cat 3 or cat 4 winds 😧
Ha team A for life! Though my department had to cram down in the creation conference rooms ugh. It was kinda fun looking back!
Did you pass the NCLEX yet?

I love to see these kind of videos ❤ I'm from another country and here the health system is sooo different
I was locked in the hospital while i was pregnant with my daughter was supposed to hve my baby That day but no doctor was there so i had to wait i call my baby #Baby Erma lol
How long did u go to college?
Sheila Ryan I am a nursing school, depending on what type of nurse it can take from 1 year to 4 years.
Did you go to community college first?
Temi Oluwaremilekun nope just from high school straight to university.
I love that you make videos like this. I work in an er as well. Love this
How do people deal with situations like this where they have to stay at the hospital while their families are st home?
Places don’t have a 13 floor because it’s bad luck 😁
I watch your videos for inspiration I’m a freshmen in college I have about a year and a half before being able to apply to nursing school and i am soooo excited!!! Thank you for your videos and wish me luck!!!💕😁😁
Wow looks like FL. Hosp south. Parking is always crazy there. I was in psych.
I’m starting this medical program at this place called the Wilson talent center! I’m nervous but hopefully I could become a nurse just like you 😌
I know this is a bit late since this video is well over a year old, but I’m interested in the medical field and I was wondering what a hospitals dress code is over tattoos and piercings, I’m really into that stuff and for me I don’t really want a lot of stuff but I just want like 2 or 3 meaningful tattoos and some simple piercings like my nose and a few ear piercings

Saw your grad school video this morning congratulations ❤️ I come back to this video for comfort like it’s an episode of grays anatomy 😂
When are you going to post another video❤️
I know this seems like an odd comment for this video, but I am playing catch-up with your videos as I found you late lol, but what are your glasses? I love them and I feel I will be skipping on the contacts when I start nursing school in May. Thanks lol
Do you work at Florida hospital south because I am a pediatric patient there for Ewing’s sarcoma
13 is an unlucky number so many buildings and ships don’t have one.
Did your dog stay with someone during the hurricane or was he alone
You work at Florida hospital?!
I LOVE all of your videos!! I'm the South GA girl that commented on your IG live video lol. I'm so glad you all are ok. Sending love ❤❤❤
This makes me want to work in a city hospital instead of a local hospital , also I want to be a nicu nurse so it's cool that you showed that part of the video!
