  • Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy spoke with USA TODAY about his presidential run and what he wants to do in office.
RELATED: Pence on Trump 2024: ‘We will have better choices’ t.ly/FQ80L
Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is doing all he can to take a bite out of Donald Trump's base in his pursuit of the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
The 37-year-old Cincinnati, Ohio-area native has pledged, if elected, he would pardon the former president for alleged federal crimes. He has proposed raising the legal voting age to 25 unless you pass a citizenship test or serve in the U.S. armed forces.
Just this week he released a Supreme Court nominee list that included conservative lawmakers such as Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah.
Ramaswamy's pitch that he will be Trump 2.0 appears to be working, according to national polls.

Hindus do not condone violence, bigotry or any form of hatred rather it focuses on peace and a serene way of living. Hindus DO NOT strictly do not believe in converting anyone to their religion as that is against their religion. Therefore, the main differentiator then is what Vivek identifies with. Now tell me: Would you rather vote for someone that follows the principles of Christianity, has a vast and deep knowledge about the constitutions, has a billion-dollar company and self-made, and has a highly educated background, or vote for someone that calls themselves Christian but also is misogynistic and has a string of negative press rep which they live true to? If we are raising the voting age, we should also institute a voting age cap of 65 unless the old people pass the same citizenship test. We really don't need ignorant or senile old folks voting away the long term health of this country to make their final days easier. There should also be a civics test mandatory for elected official. People who want to terminate the constitution should be ruled unfit to serve.

Less than a year into US involvement in World War II, President Roosevelt and his administration faced a dilemma: of the 20 million eligible men who registered for the draft, 50 percent were rejected either for health reasons or because they were deemed illiterate. On November 11, 1942, Congress approved lowering the minimum draft age to 18 and raising the maximum to 37. Soon after, the slogan “Old enough to fight, old enough to vote” was born.
In 1943, Georgia became the first state to lower the voting age for state and local elections to 18, with Kentucky following suit in 1955.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his 1954 State of the Union address:
“For years our citizens between the ages of 18 and 21 have, in time of peril, been summoned to fight for America. They should participate in the political process that produces this fateful summons. I urge Congress to propose to the States a constitutional amendment permitting citizens to vote when they reach the age of 18.” Still, it would not be until much of the American public became disillusioned by the lengthy and costly war in Vietnam in the mid 1960s that the movement gained widespread public support.
“Old enough to fight, old enough to vote” appeared in protest signs and chants. men between the ages of 18 and 20 feared their draft numbers being called despite having no say in electing their representation. On March 10, 1971, the Senate voted unanimously in favor of a Constitutional amendment lowering the voting age to 18, followed by an overwhelming majority of the House voting in favor on March 23.
And Ramaswamy thinks he's smart, so we should just sit back and let him do this? No. Not in a million years.

Ignorant. Read What He Actually Said. He Said That
      1) If You Are 18 Years Old And Are Just A Normal Kid, Not Working, Not In The Military, Then If You Want To Vote, Pass The Citizenship Test. Otherwise Don't Vote.
      2) If You're 18 And In The Forces/Working You Can Vote.
      3) In Anu Case, After Being 21/25, Everyone Can Vote

So, it was not that people thought 18 year olds were political geniuses, which they certainly are not. Buy only a knee jerk reaction to Vietnam. I would never have 18 year olds choose the direction of my company, nor my country. Devil is in the details, but definitely a novel idea.

Read the details not just the headlines - every 18 year old will be eligible to vote if:
      1. they have passed the civics test that new immigrants are required to take
      2. they are serving in the miltary
      3. they have been a first responder for at least six months.
If not, they can vote at age 25 after they have had seven years of being an adult from age 18 to 25.

@@grizzlyjp but yet this guy has never served one day in the military or public service of any kind, or voted until 2020. I’ve always said if you never vote you are a part of the problem. He’s a hypocrite….
Do you know how many immigrants actually pay someone to take the test for them ? That’s a whole business and organization and itself, FRAUD! Our children that will one day become adults, have the right to vote without any kind of loops or hurdles. They change one thing, and you will slowly see other things change. That’s what communist and authoritarians do…..
