    Very kind of you to give me a shout out on the overhead shelf! Thank you! And isn't it a great place for storage!!!? It gobbles up all kinds of stuff. Be mindful of the weight! Nothing too heavy.

      Since you moved your bedding up front, are you still using the hammock for a specific purpose?

      We use it as a catch all for jackets and other things that clutter up the space.

    Just finished the overhead shelf project for the Ascent invented by George. Not too difficult and his instructions were very helpful. Thinking about maybe a big duffel bag to contain the items. Really does help add additional space. I added a spare tire like you with the Wilco swing arm for rear door access. I notice potential storage on the inside of the spare wheel, so I order a couple of waterproof yoga mat storage bags that could be tucked up inside the wheel and bungee corded for additional storage for hoses or cords etc. We will see if that works. Thanks again to you and George.

    Great ideas, love the way you are always thinking, “what could I do next, how could I make that better”. Very wise comments as you closed out your video. Most of us would be thinking, “yea, I’ve got to go do that right now,” I don’t know who came up with the idea of saying to everyone new to their van, “live in your van for six months or a year, and make your decisions based upon your own personal experience. And you explained the rationale behind your thinking by utilizing the analogy of putting new doors from your house to your garage and just filling the new space as you created it. I’m looking forward to following you and John on your journey to Alaska. I have a feeling that your energy and wisdom will really be beneficial on that adventure.

    I love your storage ideas, especially the false bottom in the cupboard. We are picking up our new travel trailer tomorrow and will take your excellent advice to wait 6 months to a year before making changes.

    Amazing storage shelves. Great advice not to start these right away because then you will fill it with junk. I have some space in my trailer bathroom, and have not done anything with it, guess that is a good thing. Love the video. Love the cupboard doors that open upward, we are gonna do that to our cabinets, the makers, in their pursuit to make the trailer look like home, they don't realize that space for sideways opening doors don't work in that space.

    How interesting, just yesterday I was watching a 'storage' how to in kitchens and he showed a false bottom in the 'junk' drawer, also the install of a slide out tray/drawer in the behind the 'kick plate' at the base of the cabinet. I am so excited that you are discovering all of these spaces that can be utilized in the PW. I see on some RV'r videos there is really a large amount of usable space that is 'cosmetically covered up' by mfgr. One guy found a large space that only had one little skinny vertical pipe behind the wall. And yes, I will be going back to watch how to build the front shelf when the time is right, thank you for reminding us. Thank you for sharing !

    We just bought ourselves a laptop safe for in the camper. Just for extra security. They’re not that expensive. Check Amazon for more information. It may even help your premiums. Kudo’s on the shelf above the cabin. I have one for exact the same reasons, although we have not so much storage there but enough for clothing store my with electronics like cables, chargers power banks etc.

    • @NicoVeenkamp
      @NicoVeenkamp 5 лет назад

      BTW on the electronics bag. I bought myself an Osprey waterproof bag for this. This will ensure my cables etc stay dry.

      I had previously done quite a thorough search for a safe that would fit, but our "garage" is just too small. The batteries take up most of the space and what remains is too shallow.

    • @NicoVeenkamp
      @NicoVeenkamp 5 лет назад

      From She to Me Did you search for laptop safe? Even including words like for a car? My laptop safe is small enough to fit just my laptop, a tablet and important documents.

      Yes, it was HB but it was a kite festival. Not sure how frequently they are held. John just happened by on his bike ride that day. There is a kite shop on the pier and I think they organize it.

    Hey Debbie, great ideas. My wife and I have a 2017 Accent and have used many of your ideas. The one question I have with the over head storage rack. It seams to be over the side air bag and it's designed to deploy with space over the passengers head. Wouldn't that change where the airbag goes on deployment? Did you talk with Pleasure way before installation?ThanksDave Hollenback

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  4 года назад

      I have updated the cab shelf using the Vancillary kit. I mentioned it in a video recently but plan to do a follow up. I contacted the kit makers and they told me that the side air bags deploy downward from the plastic bit that is above the door. So I don't think there is any interference. Their website is Vancillary.com and you can also find it on my Amazon storefront. I actually like the new shelf better. Stuff doesn't fall down in the front, and I've hooked a cargo net to the underside for pillow storage.

    I thought about doing something similar in my Ford Transit van however there are side curtain air bags in that area just behind and above your head. I was concerned that if the bags were activated whatever I put up there would prevent the bags from doing their job or send a chunk of metal or wood through my head. Any thoughts?

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  5 лет назад

      I don't know that particular vehicle. In ours. the air bags are not near the location of the brackets. Maybe you can find a dealer who can give you some good info.

    Wonderful ideas once again. Thank you. Now that you have had the shelve for a while, I was wondering...knowing John is tall like my husband, is he having any issues with loosing the head space. How many times has he bumped his head😳

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  5 лет назад +1

      The funny thing is, I tend to bump into it when I am wearing my glasses on top of my head. No problem so far and we love the extra space it gives us. You could always put a foam bumper on it if it became an issue.

    • @rhondamccay83
      @rhondamccay83 5 лет назад

      That is funny. Also wondering. What is your final decision on bedding. Like John, I have shoulder issues and need extra padding. Is there a video that has your latest solution? Can you send me that link? Thank you once again.
      By the way, I love the dog beach at Huntington.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  5 лет назад +1

      Well there will likely be some experimenting on this trip. We are taking both foam pads but I am hoping to get away with just using one. And because of the surgery, John is bringing one standard size pillow that he wedges between his legs. That will be in addition to the two small pillows. So I will give you an update from the road after he has had a few nights to figure it out.

    Can you still use the privacy curtain?

  • @garywernick7950
    @garywernick7950 5 лет назад

    For what it's worth, I did find that the yoga mat bag (link below) works well as a storage unit placed in the spare tire cavity on the Wilco swing arm for loose things. You can clip it in securely with the strap hooks in the two holes on the back. I'm using it for the black water 90 degree adapter in a large zip lock bag and collapsible flushing hose to keep these separate from the van compartment. Anyway I thought you might like another "nook" for outside storage on your big trip. Thanks again for the great videos.

      @@FromShetoMe I know it isn’t much of a chance but if you forgot, it could be a costly mistake and you do have water in the sink drain trap too. May want to wrap it in plastic or put it in a bag.
