Reading all these comments from you crazy Texans arguing over what BBQ joint is the best when it's all subjective. My advice.. go there on a rainy day. When I lived in Austin 3 years ago. I would always drive by when it rained. And if the line was short enough, hungry or not, im stopping in
When my wife and I went to Franklins I got in line at 4:55. I beat the next ppl by lass than 10 minutes. I was disappointed that they did not offer one shirt a day to sell to the first person in line. They should offer a shirt that says you were first in line. If you didn’t want to buy it they don’t sell one that day. It would be so special for those ppl that take up the challenge of getting there first. Loved watching you experience and I hope to get there to have the beef ribs.
I’ve done it and it was awesome. We got breakfast tacos from the stand in the back. We started drinking shortly there after and met some of the coolest people in line. It’s definitely more of an experience. Then of course the food was incredible regardless the price. Good times!!!
Great video. Hats off to you guys for getting there that early. That would actually be part of the experience waiting in line with so many other BBQ lovers. Unfortunately when we were in Austin we didn't have the time to do Franklin's and settled on Black's which was also good but it was not what i really wanted. Cheers

@@docwho10th88 Sadly I missed the ribs. They were down to the last part of the last brisket when I got to the counter. I was nice and let the guy behind me have some.
Make the trip to Butter’s BBQ in Mathis Tx. It’s a small town next to Lake Corpus Christi off of hwy 37 southbound 35ish miles north of Corpus Christi. The young man that owns it is amazing. The only coastal bend restaurant to make the Texas Top 50. He’s only open Friday-Sunday but you have to get there early as well. Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The brisket rivals anything you’ll find in the state including Franklin’s.
Wow! Great video. I find it intriguing that you have documented the experience of actually being first in line. Many haters in the comments who have absolutely no clue how to live life and enjoy these experiences. Yes, you can go to Cooper’s in Katy, Tx but the real experience is in Llano, Tx. There’s eating and then there is enjoying life’s experiences. Don’t be dull.

I would like to try their BBQ and find out what all the hype is about; however, I am not willing to get up that early and wait in line for hours to get it. There is a lot of great BBQ out here in TX.
Been to Micanopy, FL, Lockart, TX, Memphis, TN, Birmingham and Dothan ALA, Kinston, NC, Holly Hill, SC, and Brunswick and Atlanta, GA. But for me, the best "Q" is in Kansas City, MO at Arthur Bryant's.
Just no - not for any kind of food anywhere...+ I live in NC so I would bet we have, & I have had better BBQ here...I was just in Austin and the surrounding areas a few months ago & when visiting anywhere, you can typically find just as good or better food at locals establishments. I tend to steer clear of touristy type restaurants.
I was born with bbq sauce in my bottle. My family is 5 generations Texans. This is not to boast but a different perspective. There are over 2,200 bbq joints in TX. My grandfather, father and uncles showed me bbq all over the state. I can take you to places that are just as good (honestly) for $15 per lb. Franklin's charges $34 at the store and $54 on Goldbelly. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And waiting in line?! Never, ever had to wait in line for great bbq. All hype, I'm sorry to say. Plenty other places just as good...no waiting.
@@tdawg341998 Depends on what part of TX you're interested in. My favs are Goode Co., Rudy's, Pappas Bros. in Houston. KD's in Midland. Luling City Market. Kreuz in Lockhart. Just type in "Best 10 BBQ" in whatever locale and you'll get some good ones. Over 2,000 of them...more half of them are acceptable. Especially the ones with years of tenure.
If you know ahead of time, like 2 months that you will be going there you can actually order it online and pick it up. Who cares where you eat it, I guess I'm not willing to wait that long, seems a little much but I guess if you have time to kill.

@@clementjohnson4391 and idk where you’re getting $6 a pound from lol most at grocery stores are $3-4 a pound unless you’re buying prime grade which is unnecessary when it comes to brisket to be honest. i’ve smoked my fair share of choice and prime grade briskets and they both come out about the same. prime is a teeny bit juicier but that’s not worth the extra money to me

Cooper’s in New Braunfels is pretty good; and Hays County in San Marcos is good too. And since you’re in the area, drive over to Lockhart and give those places a try.
Go to Coopers in Llano, Tx it’s original.
Just phone in and place an order for pick up. Sure you can't eat it there but it's easy enough to find a place and you don't have to wait in line.
what time did the next people show up in line?
Maybe an hour after us...6ish-6:30ish
Good music choices too. I enjoyed your video!
110%
I got the meat sweats just watching this. Awesome!!!
Why the price for brisket 😂😂😂😂😂
I enjoyed the wait with all the different people from around the country, but it’s not my favorite BBQ in Austin.
It really can’t be better than Kreuz or shmittys in lockhart, without having to deal with weird Austin people
Kreuz is DEFINITELY on my list!! That will be a future video very soon!!! Terry Blacks, Valentinas, etc!! Lots more bbq videos coming!
Amen brother. Stop the Austin/Franklin insanity.
@@bottlechucker There is a reason why they are not on the map is because they are not that good....same thing with the Salt lick..total garbage!
@@docwho10th88 That's what people don't get...there's a reason you don't have to wait in line at other places. And it's not because their BBQ sucks. It's because it's flat out not as good as Franklin's. If it was, guess what, PEOPLE WOULD BE WAITING OUTSIDE. Lol.
Welcome to Austin
You can go there at 8am and you’re still fine 😂
Hope ya’ll didn’t cause any plumbing issues at home after eating all of that.
Hey Keep doing the vlogs remind people to subscribe I see nice potential in this channel maybe make it a bbq crawl theme channel
Those prices per lb. Sheesh!
I’ve lived here for 23 years and have eaten at every barbecue place from Lockhart to Georgetown. Franklins is very good barbecue, but the only way I know that is because I had a friend who stood in line. It was good but not any better than many o the er locations that you don’t have to waste 6 hours of one’s life for.
People wait at franklins just for the pics to say they where there. 😂
He generated a buzz for something so simple
And hes not even there😅
It might be great bbq but waiting in line for hours just to eat is nuts 😮
I don't get up till 11!
Was that Aaron Franklin who came up to yall and talked?
No, i wish! Would have been pretty cool to meet Aaron and get a pic! It was the manager, the same guy who took our meat order earlier in the video.👍🏼. Thanks for watching!
All that way and all that wait, and you're drinking a bud?! Different strokes I guess...
34 per pound? For brisket. That's insane
I'm ok being 20th 0r 30th in line ill go an hr before at the most..lol
OK I have to ask... How much was your meal????
around $130ish
I would like to try their BBQ and find out what all the hype is about; however, I am not willing to get up that early and wait in line for hours to get it. There is a lot of great BBQ out here in TX.
fact
Been to Micanopy, FL, Lockart, TX, Memphis, TN, Birmingham and Dothan ALA, Kinston, NC, Holly Hill, SC, and Brunswick and Atlanta, GA. But for me, the best "Q" is in Kansas City, MO at Arthur Bryant's.
Agree
you're the luckiest man ever! a great women and awesome bbq, I'm jeleous. lol
I am pretty sure Franklin is good but i am positive it's an overpriced tourist trap for out of town sheep
$54 a pound? For what? For meat? Nah bruh. Can’t do it.
@@clementjohnson4391 you know all about sheep, dont you.
Where do you recommend?
@@tdawg341998 Depends on what part of TX you're interested in. My favs are Goode Co., Rudy's, Pappas Bros. in Houston. KD's in Midland. Luling City Market. Kreuz in Lockhart. Just type in "Best 10 BBQ" in whatever locale and you'll get some good ones. Over 2,000 of them...more half of them are acceptable. Especially the ones with years of tenure.
How much did that plate cost in total?
I think around $130ish
@@bottlechucker the brisket did look top notch.
Which of the meats really blew u away........brisket?
Definitely the brisket was out if this world!!! Ribs were good too!!
I do what they do in my back yard in Phoenix, no waiting in line. Going to smoke a rack of ribs tomorrow...
but you aint Franklin's though
No you do not. Trust me.
@@bt3722 😅man...not at all
@@bt3722 Yes I do, it's not rocket science. Any time someone says "trust me" I immediately don't...
How many hours does it take you to cook brisket?
That was some good eatin huh?
BEST brisket ive EVER eaten!!!
If you know ahead of time, like 2 months that you will be going there you can actually order it online and pick it up. Who cares where you eat it, I guess I'm not willing to wait that long, seems a little much but I guess if you have time to kill.
Lol. Hipsters. Franklins is old news. Valentina’s far superior and no stupid half day wait.
franklins bbq is super amazing and i understand wanting to try it just for the excitement of eating there, but no way am i ever paying $34 per pound when i can get a 15 pound brisket for $35 and smoke it the same way franklin does.
No, you cant!
@@drholt2 that’s weird… because i have.
It must have been awhile since you've cooked because brisket is at least $5-6 a pound now.
@@clementjohnson4391 nope, just smoked a brisket last week, my friend is a butcher hence the low prices. but even at walmart or HEB you can get a choice grade brisket for $50. and i’m not doggin on franklins bbq it’s great food and a great experience but im just saying no way am i ever going there when i can make a whole feast for less than the price you pay at franklins for one meal.
@@clementjohnson4391 and idk where you’re getting $6 a pound from lol most at grocery stores are $3-4 a pound unless you’re buying prime grade which is unnecessary when it comes to brisket to be honest. i’ve smoked my fair share of choice and prime grade briskets and they both come out about the same. prime is a teeny bit juicier but that’s not worth the extra money to me
Pro tip, you can pre order online these days.
Lol, so they waited for nothing?
No, it's something like days or weeks ahead if ordering online.
@@conrad463 it's not days or weeks ahead. If there are openings then you can pre-order 1 day ahead.
@@k.b.1759 I wouldn't say they waited for nothing. Doing the line and wait there is an experience in itself.
@@larrydallas0211 they don’t understand
Yeah, we know.....
Why does your maps app have an english accent???
It’s pretty great but not so much that it’s worth the wait.
You have to be old school and have stamina.. we used to wait in line to see Rush, Ozzy, Van Halen etc for at least 2 days in advance because it was general admission, so 6 hours is nothing. People these days are soooooo out of shape and lack stamina.
I would feel bad shitting out 500 dollars for brisket
