This story brought tears to my eyes. It made me remember the many mu'umu'u my mom made for me that I have stored in away. I'll have to get them out and appreciate how luck I am to have them. What a beautiful thing you young ladies are doing.
What a touching and warm video. I no longer live in Hawaii but it will always be my home. All my life I wanted a Bete Muu and on my last visit home I had saved enough to buy one. Every time I wear it I am reminded of little kid time and the wonderful muumuu I wore for hula performances and important events. It takes me back home and makes me feel happy.
How beautiful are those mu'umu'u dresses!!! The colours and styles look so lovely, I prefer those such styles a lot to short dresses and skimpy clothes.
When I worked for FHB in the early 80’s, they bought mu’umu’u and aloha shirts for the employees so we could honor Aloha Fridays with our attire. I have alway loved mu’umu’u and was moved to vintage tears over this lovely story. #libertyhouse
Are there patterns for Momos anywhere? I had a muumuu long time ago when I was a little girl and I can vividly remember what it looks like but being a novice sewer, I not sure where to begin to try to re-create it or to make a new one are there patterns?
This is a style of clothing that I am alsp trying to bring back to fashion here in the Marshall Islands, which we call "Wau." I am a man, so I can't really wear the full on dress. However, I base my shirts off the style of the mu'umu'u/wau and try to encourage women to wear this beautiful style.

I love the muumuu. Honolulu used to have muumuu worn all the time . Not anymore.
