    Private collectors serve a hugely important role in preserving things which no government body or other kind of organization will think to save. These record collections are magnificent and all of us will benefit from them.

    One of the donors, Mike Malihini Scott, was a performer himself. I would love to hear the two albums by him that I don’t own, “Hawaii Gently Swings,” and “The Call of the Islands.” Maybe they’re in the collection! If so . . . Some day.
