That bouncing blue ball has an impeccable sense of time
blue ball lmao
This comment extended my watching- just to see the blue ball.
bouncing blue ball is one of the best musicians of this generation
"Drop the stick" best advice for ghost notes.
I'm a beginner drummer. One of the first lessons I saw was to hold the sticks loosely. I'm always dropping my sticks and I'm not even talking about ghost notes lol
@@lobbyrobbyloose but closed is basically what you want so it rocks about up and down in your palm but doesn’t fall haha 👍🏻
Once again Drumeo has shown me how to take my drumming to a new level, thanks guys!
Sid Mello that comment sounds like someone who works for drumeo made it
I just discovered ghost notes and it's great. It upgraded the sound of my drumming. Thanks to all the folks out there with these great lessons :-)
I am actually learning how to play the drums before i even get my drum set, thank you internet, thanks Jared!
haha no you are npt
I've been playing for some months now thanks to these videos, hang in there August
+EternalListener wtf you on about m8. I've been playing for two years on an actual fucking drumkit lol
M2 bro I GOT ONE!
Keep it up \m/
August Burns Red it is possible to learn theory with out a kit. so "wtf you on about m8"
As a bass player, I know and love ghost notes but never knew what it meant on drums. Now I do. Thanks ! I always loved the sound but didn't know there was a name for it.
Great vid! I'm a lifelong guitar player that tries at drums from time to time. I'm trying to nail the groove in 100,000 Years by KISS and the ghost notes are a must.
That comment on feeling the ghost notes and locking in to each other as musicians on stage is one of the most important comments ever. Thank you!
This video is greatly appreciated, thank you for explaining this and demonstrating the differences.
So ghost notes have less velocity than your regular hit or punch at a lower volume.
Just came across this technique in The Best Beginner Drum Book from you guys. Every new concept I come across in that book, I like to youtube to get an audio example of what in learning. I've heard drummers do this and wondered what the hell it was! Now I know.
I bought a drum kit a week ago, this is really helpful to a complete beginner
drumeo is Great God Bless you!
This is super helpful!
Excellent explanation, thank you sir
Jared you rock
Thank you for the lesson!
This guy is a great teacher
Great lesson !!!!
There's a simple way to vastly improve your dynamic feel that a great teacher in Detroit taught me a long time ago.. he insisted I play nothing but notes between these dynamics for two weeks on my pad and my kit----- PPP-P, that was all I was allowed to work with and boy did that alter my playing in a super good way--- try it today, I still do this occasionally for several days at a time ----
Can you describe any further what's PPP-P please? I'm still not very familiar with those terms haha
@@kackaurban6028 Piano to Pianissimo are dynamic markers-. P which is piano is very quiet with each added p indicating the note or notes are played even more quietly.
@@ambroulard oh okay thxx
Love it- and your upbeat ( no Pun) presentation- ghosts and rests are so important
Amazing teacher
Really nice job.
I still don't know how to count properly, but that didn't hinder me from learning how to play this. Very helpful, thank you.
It's Great, Thank You #Drumeo !!!
very clear, bravo
Awesome lesson ! Can someone please tell me the difference between a snare note on the third line and one in the space , I keep seeing them written both ways . I'm confused lol
Hi, this is indeed a great video! However, may i know what software do you use to make the drum notes/score? :) Your reply is much appreciated!
Thanks for everything... 🥁
nice i just discovered i am an intermediat drummer! lol thank jared
Where do you get your shirts, bro?
They're badass.
thanks a lot !!!
Yeah ,Thank you.
Thankyou sir.
hey Jared, i know you must get this alot, but what do you use as a personal kit? because im kind of a newer drummer and im stuck with my dads old ass kit dont get me wrong it sounds good for what it is and it holds its weight in the band but im saving up alot of money and i would like to know what you (the best expert im aware of) use for yourself
@Kudan26 bass players should only play about 2 notes per measure?
thx!
what are these beats called? I love those smooth half time beats with the nice ghost rolls on the snare but I am having trouble finding it because I don't know what I should search for
I always assumed that ghost notes were those kind of skipped notes like what he does in that opening piece he plays. What are those called?
Love the reddit shirt!!
TY! :3
Jared Falk's is one of my fab channel. And also I subscribe drumeo channel
Who’s watching in 2021?
a little tip for those who never played this before:
first you should practise down-up/up-down strokes cause u get more feeling with that ;)
no dislikes, thats right. u guys rule
I am not believing in ghosts either. Nice video
When I was dropping the stick low, my notes were still too low for it to be more felt then heard. I was taught a ghost note is more it an upstroke tap. Anyone have any comments or clarification on this? Was I just dropping too high? Should there be more control with the stick to tap rather than drop? Does it not really matter as long as the note is ghosty? 👻
Jared, you are so great. I never feel patronized when you teach the easy stuff, which is really important in for a teacher. Good job!
That said your jokes are rather rubbish in this video xD
I know this comment is 10 years old, but I agree. I feel good when he teaches stuff, he's amazing.
Ghosts are not real so that means this video is illuminati
SnipeYouFromMars chutiya Hai tu..
We definitely need to be protected by God from the Illuminati, they are more dangerous if we do not stand in the light
👁⚠️
Nice tutorial. That undampened snare is driving me nuts though.
the sidechain compressor on the kick is driving me nuts
Next vedio please. I'm from the Philippines.
Cool:)
I’ve working on my ghost notes but can’t seem to figure them out. Any help?
Do they have to be done with paradiddles or without doing the paradiddle?
Wot?
Paradiddles are a totally different thing. For example RLRR LRLL.
Came for the ghost notes, stayed for the meaty kick drum
I can play the last one but I put a kick at the end instead of a snare. But I can't seem to do the ones that come before it 😂
Someone forward this lesson to Lars Ullerich. I hope he can keep up.
Sorry. He can't.
There's ghost notes in Thorn Within from Load.
Ullerich?
Motherfucking hard this ghost note technique is.
That was such a cheesy joke at the beginning lol
Good lesson, though.
How do you like that Speed Cobra?
BLEEEP 🤗
you remind me so much of Brann Dailor lol
nciccantelli 😂😂
Lol I thought the same
As a bass player, I don't like drummers playing ghost notes, those are my beats you're playing on.
spoddie get over it m8 XD drums are the heart of the band so it's kinda necessary to do this
So are ghost notes just the notes that make up a drum fill?
No. A fill is mostly played on the toms...
Huh ive been doing ghost notes the entire time never knew they had an actual name
@skistar70 nah, there's never been a clever drummer. Some think Don Henley was clever but that's because they compare him to Joe Walsh.
Nice Shirt ;)
isn't his laptop turned off? 7:40
By accident I used to play ghostnotes and always thought I played sloppy/offtime/too lose grip. Now I know its not.
hahaha I had the same thought about the cheesy joke at the beginning then saw this comment :).
some people say he's still using the same MacBook
We're all just hallucinating this video.

Playing with traditional hand gives me way more control so I can play ghost notes gracefully like they are ment to be but its difficult to play fast. Thats the reason jazz drummers play with traditional and metal drjmers play with matched.

Jared is the bomb . com
@spoddie as a drummer, turn down your amp.
I just realized that in back in black you play ghost notes lol
Holy shit, I noticed you are wearing a Reddit shirt, I regularly browse Reddit, awesome
pringelsthegamefreak same here
JARED FALK USES REDDIT
Aren't the snare hits notated incorrectly? They're supposed to be in the 2nd space from the top, right?
Harry Kane?
Brian Goulding tfue?
Um a McDonald's ad came on during the first snare exercise and was on beat with the drop of the stick and the same drum beat
Could be real
Is it just me or does he look like the dad in Dog With a Blog?
Wow newest comment in a week
I'm a beginning band drummer at my school😺
