Excellent review. I factory ordered through the dealership my 2019 Mustang EcoBoost Premium with the Pony Package the first day Ford accepted orders for the 2019. Ordered in July 2018, built in Sep 2018, delivered Oct 2018. I get many say would rather own the GT. I have owned over 10 Mustangs from the V8 271hp High Performance 1st Generation to Concourse Show Mustangs. All great as the Ford Mustang gives you options for your particular needs. My 2019 Mustang EcoBoost is a fantastic daily driver that many Mustang enthusiast should consider.
Grant Frey as someone who almost went that route just curious did the dealer discount much? I was looking last year to build an Ecoboost with all options and Pony Pack for my wife as no dealers really carry high optioned ecoboost. We owned a 2016 Pony Package and ended up trading it in on a fully loaded GTI.
My first Mustang is a V-6. At times I wish that I ponied up and went with the GT. However, the newer model GT's have a plastic oil pan and I'm skeptical of its durability. I'm hearing every time you change the oil you have to change the plastic drain plug as well.
@@Jacobk66 Great points. I ordered my 2019 the first day Ford accepted orders in Jul 2018. As you can imagine dealers are not looking to give deals off the msrp so early in the model year. Very true finding a fully optioned EcoBoost is nearly impossible. I was able to get various Ford and dealership discounts near delivery date. I got exactly what I wannted at a price i was satisfied with. Very happy!
The little extras that cost 2000 to $4000 that you describe is a good deal is it really a good deal that's a substantial amount of money for just a little Chrome or something like that for $1000 for a little Chrome trim is ridiculous
@ImmortalHitman In my opinion, I think buying the package(s) is the way to go. A black accent package for a Mustang costs about $800 as an option. For that you get a black roof, a black spoiler, black 5.0 emblems, a black pony and GT emblem, and black wheels. To just buy those blacks wheels from Ford would cost you $2,000 a piece. To have a body shop paint your roof would cost close to $1,000. And painted spoilers go for roughly $400.
This is a great review, I think I will look at this car instead of the Challenger.
Mike C 9 months later, what did you end up getting?
Dick*
The challenger is big, bulky and the exterior design is outdated. This has more features and looks better. The camaro has a nicer interior, but I don't like the visibility, or the fact that the turbo (I want to tune) has less power than the V6 or ecoboost.
Mustang smoking mopars since 64 stang gang
Eugene Urbina Stang gang for life
Ford dealer near me has a 2019 EcoBoost coupe automatic with performance pack in black and they have it marked down right now to $26k. Really thinking about it...would be my first new car.
Monroe there is one like 1 and a half hours away for 24.9k...
Monroe but I don’t think i’d get this car since it’s a coupe and I usually take groups of people
I got mine 2 days ago for the base price of 22,200 brand new down here in Houston tx
@@mrwubwubz9714 manual i bet, i really wanna automatic.. but i bit more expesinve
Go for it i just bought a 2020 kona blue ecoboost with the black accent package i love it
Pretty sweet car even without the 5.0.
Took a careful look at the EcoSport Mustang last spring. Overall, I was impressed. It's a viable alternative to much more expensive European and Asian rivals. For the kind of recreational driving I do (mountainous curvy roads) the turbo 4 was more than adequate and the GT was simply overkill. For those condemned to live in flyover country with long, long straight roads it might be a different story.
It’s crazy that the 4.0 V6 from a decade ago only got 240 Ft. Lbs and this I4 is getting 350.
Tom Forge I have the 4.0 :(
Great review as always Drew! I look forward to this review every year. Your review of this in 2016 convinced me this was the right choice and I got an EB Mustang after watching your work. 3 years later it's still going!
Awesome to hear! Mustang truly is an amazing car!
Ford mustang is amazing
The EcoBoost now has an optional quad tipped active exhaust also. Thanks for the great review.
john papanastasiou but the exhaust note is atrocious
Yes it is
Great review. I have watched every review available and this is the most comprehensive. You didn’t mention the upgrade sound system - a 1000 watt 12 speaker Bang & Olufsen or the active exhaust. Although the 10 speed automatic is a bit quicker and an upgrade, good luck finding the 6 speed manual. I’m almost at 5 months waiting for my factory order EcoBoost Premium Convertible manual transmission with active exhaust, B&O sound and a few other bells & whistles. It’s due in about 9 days. I appreciate your video. Keep up the great work.
Congrats on the EcoBeast Mustang! Definitely an amazing car!
I ordered, in July, the same as you a 2019 6 speed EB premium Convertible with PP, active exhaust, B&O stereo and the safe and smart it wasn't delivered until the end of November. I haven't driven it yet it's in storage. I got to start it up, I thought it sounded amazing (in track mode). I can't wait until spring. Have fun with yours!
Ever since the original Mustangs always look good in white.
My brother has a 2016 ecoboost premium. Great, fun car to drive. Wouldn’t consider it a “muscle car” in the traditional sense, but it is still impressively fast, you expect power from a V8 or even a properly tuned V6, but to wrench that much power from a 2.3 liter engine is impressive. Sure, the mustang purists might shun the ecoboost, but it and the “rental car” V6 mustang really help fund the bigger and badder mustangs, and I anticipate we will see more variety in the high end Mustang market as the ecoboost in particular gets better and better with technology. As a car guy myself, the ecoboost premium is NOT off the shortlist. If you want a daily driven sports car, it should not be discounted.
The 2019 Mustang Ecoboost w/Perf Pkg is on my consideration list.
I love my 2018 premium performance package EcoBoost Mustang.
No you don’t you wanna a gt
@@FBI-ss5mg Go away.
Eco boost is better than gt
I wish this was my first car
What was your first car
@@scott8024 2012 Corolla LE 😂
this is my second car! loving it 💨
@@MoistChungus Hit the nail on the hammer, it really makes you appreciate the power and handling.
2017 ecoboost is my first car
I bought a ruby red premium convertible with the pony package, safety package, upgraded audio, 201a package, and show stopper red seats. I love this car!!!
Sweet car! Congrats! 🇺🇲
Know it’s been a while since you made this video, but I just found it today. I have a ’19 Mustang convertible premium package. Traded my Volvo S60 in for the Mustang after my son left for college. Surprisingly, my Mustang has more features than my Volvo did. It’s also more comfortable even though it’s low to the ground. Only complaint I have, is the Volvo had the Bowers and Wilkes sound system, which had a much richer sound. Once I added a subwoofer (conservative size) with an amp, the sound was improved. Only problem Ford needs to address. Otherwise, it’s a work of art and ingenuity. Thanks for the informative video!
Great job sir! I'm going to nit pick you on one small detail. I'm sure most know this intuitively but there's always those few that don't get it. Anyway, you said remote start came standard on all trim levels. That's true, but only if you have the automatic transmission. It is not available on anything with a manual transmission. ;-)
This is true 👍
Nope you need the 201a package if you have 200a you do not have thy feature.
crazy thing is that with just a ktune / air intake and just a few more other changes u can push this baby to 450+ horsepower mines is currently running at 420 hp
@BadAim that's undeniably true man... every c4 from like the year 18+ probably even older cafs such as honda, eco mustang, toyota... and a bunch of others have the direct fuel injection with built in stock turbo this is what is making all this c4 engines boost past the 300+ hp.
@BadAim wish i still had my little mustang 😂 but I upgraded to an f350 v8 6.2l to help me move my motercycles and jetskies from time to time.
@BadAim happens when you have auction licenses 😂
Whyyyyyy are they still putting that tiny ass screen in the base model. Probably the only car on the market at this price range with a screen that’s the size of a phone lol
Just some history I would like to add: In 1985 I raced this Mustangs Grandfather....a 1985 Mustang SVO with my all original perfect running 1967 Firebird 400....335HP.......It stayed even with me up to 60 and finally I inched away.....I imagine this new one would have slaughtered me...lol
The top optioned 2019 Ecoboost (all options sans Magnaride) is the best car, best Mustang convertible, I have ever owned in 25+ years of car buying.
I got the 2018 Ecoboost premium with the performance package automatic and love it! In Ontario for the 2019 Ecoboost automatic you can’t get the performance package. It is only with manual.
The Performance Pack also adds 3.55 gears. Love the option in my 2018!!
EcoBoost? Hoping to get one soon. Though every acceleration test I've seen so far 0-60 is at least 5.6+, what are yours like?
@@jakesmith9509 I've actually hit 5.6 twice. Haven't done a run in warm weather yet so I didn't launch very hard. I think 5.3 is doable. I'm sure I'll test it again soon...
Nice Review, Drew ! I agree the Need For Green is definitely the only way to go! 💯🤙🏽 Keep ' em coming BOSS
Jose P.
Thanks Jose appreciate it! :-)
@@goldpony I support you Drew ! 🏆💯
My 2018 Mustang EcoBoost Premium has the smooth leather for the steering wheel... I guess they changed it in 2019? 🤷♂️
I have a 2018 EcoBoost Mustang right now, but no remote start. Manual transmission.
I want the Oxford White Fastback
Can’t wait for the 2020 to come out , with the interior of the new GT500
i want this car
A comprehensive review. Good cars but I still think I'll buy another GT.
This is my daily driver and my first car. Its in kona blue with the speed strips on the side. Same like the car in the video except not in white. Premium fastback.
Awesome car congrats!
Excellent Review Of 2019 Ford Mustang. 😀
Thanks!
I drove a convertible yesterday for over 100 miles around Hawaii Island (the big one). Handles great and accelleration is real good for a 4-banger. Lots of tech gadgets. Never had time to learn them all. The car is stunningly beautiful.
Fit & finish is horrible. Rear quarter windown didn’t close shut. Feels cheap throughout, too much cheap plastic outside. Feels like a car that won’t look/feel great 5 years/100,000 miles later. Definitely wouldn’t use as a daily driver if I wanted it to last me more than 5 years and still look good and feels strong mechanically.
Gold pony just saw ur video with cj pony parts excellent video!
Thanks appreciate it! Got a couple more coming out with them :-)
Awesome in depth review of the eco boost by a Mustang specialist! I like the white color too! I wonder if there are special turbo noises with this Mustang? They offer nice packages for this one! Would like to see the Pony logos shining to the ground! :)
Haha yeah with I had the premium for the Pony illuminations but definitely a fun car! Thanks for stopping by Martin! 😁
Maybe shining Gold Pony logos would be even better... :P
SHOULD’VE GOT A...
Horse. Like an actual mustang. Not a stupid car
Excellent review.
Thanks!
Beautiful car
great video. I used to have the V6 and loved it. Been looking at the GT's but too damn much. Thinking about the ecoboost....just hate the sound of exhaust
The only thing stopping me from buying this car is cuz’ i live in Canada/Manitoba and we get really really bad winters 😭 but then again i see people just slap on winter tires and they seem to be getting by no problem.
Lol get a Kia stinger if your living out there or genesis
Dude I want your job!!!
Looking good drew. The car I mean 😂. I’m looking forward to that new Shelby coming out!
haha yea I gotta find a way to drive the GT500! :-)
How would it sound with a flowmaster
I want this car so bad
The real question we all want to know is, does your GT 'Tick'??
No tick for me
that looks like an 18 my lady has the same exact one from the color to the rims to the strip on the side
Looks interesting going to get one
I'd get one with a performance package in ruby red with premium 201a package for the Digital cockpit. I would also get the ford performance tune lol
was this on a snow tires or the all season it comes with it? im surprise its running nicely on snow
Differences between the fastback and premium fastback?
You forgot to mention the premium Plus Package
Y no V6 Ecoboost form F-150
thanks for the really great video
Nice video
Thanks, appreciate it!
Holy crap this is literally thee exact same model I have strips an all
Does the ecoboost mustang have any parking sensors?
Why not just use the 3.5 EcoBoost? My 2013 f 150 makes more power than this . I'll buy one when the 3.5 is standard.
Hmmm.. Anyone else feels like the previous facelift (2016) had a better looking front? Looks cheap to me. Wouldn't even recognize it as a Mustang if I look into my backmirror.. Looks like a normal sedan..
In my opinion they both look really similar to the Ford fusion in the front. The 2019 is just slightly less so
It's not a steal for the ecoboost performance pack. When you consider all they the for the ecoboost performance pack is just slap on gt suspension parts.
I’m gonna get the 2017 version of this as my First car what do you guys think? How is the exhaust note?
Get a 2018
So I’ll be getting an ecoboost in the next month, what should I get a manual or 10 speed auto?
Nic Drake 10 speed auto
Why didn't ford put the turbo 6 out of the Aussie ford falcon xr6 turbo it shits all over the 4 cylinder they put in these things
Idk why the eco boost gets so much hate, I’m picking my 2019 up on Tuesday for 23k
Amazing car congrats!
You think the Ecoboost gets so much hate, try owning a v6 :)
Mike wypasek lol I’ve owned a 2010 v6 automatic trust me I know your pain
Mike wypasek I own a v6 automatic it is not pleasant especially when going to car meets
Where did you purchase yours from?
I noticed that with the premium eco-boost, the rear mustang logo has a tri-colored bar going through it, making it look like a V-6 model. I wish Ford didn't do that. It's confusing.
That's if you get the pony package. It changes the grill also
I'd rather pluck down the extra money and get the GT premium!!!!!
A more effective and considerably less expensive approach to satisfying the same need is a Viagra prescription.
What kind of plucking takes you from a Ecoboost straight to a GT premium?
Why do so many EcoBoost acceleration tests seem to be nowhere near 4.9-5.1 secs? Always seems at least 5.6+
Jake Smith based on a few youtube vids you’ve watch?
The bad thing about that, for any car’s 0-60 youre curious about, is that you dont know how the uploader got those numbers... meaning, was it hot? Are they at a higher altitude? Are they running at a slight incline? How many passengers are in the car? What kind of fuel did they pump?
Like most 0-60s test reviews, for any car, they use the one with the best package performance wise (tires, gear ratio, use of launches...)...
Rated numbers and real world numbers are different. If a car is rated at 4 seconds, chances are that most of the times theyll be hitting 60mph in 4.2-4.5 most of the times depending on temperature, humidity, tire condition, road condition, how warm tires are... so many factors....it will only hit 4 sec under perfect everything.
There are people with stock ‘15-17 EB mustangs hitting 60 in 5.4-5.7secs, whereas others are in the 6 sec... There are some with ‘18 -19 EBs running 5.2-5.6 sec... same with the discontinued v6...
Ecoboost engines run better on higher octane (93). Some people are cheap and pump regular, or live in an area that at most gets 91. If you google , youll find that they have their rated numbers and next to it will say “on 93 octane”...
@@M4B21S88 Thanks for the detailed response! I just picked up my beauty the other day! I've noticed that 91 octane is the highest where I live as well. What's your opinion on engine "break in"? Is it true you should drive fairly "normal" and not gun it until 1k or so miles?
Jake Smith Nice! 👍 did you buy auto or manual?
Just take it easy the first 1k miles. Drive normal but dont drive it like you stole it lol specially if you have the manual, as auto wont let you redline it unless you enable manual mode.
It sucks you dont get 93 octane, I live in Fl so I do, ive pumped 93 since I bought my ‘16 two years ago and man she pulls hard. Ive kept her stock..
91 octane will limit you a bit performance wise but read about octane boosters (after your break in period)... join forums ...mustang6g..
Also keep an eye on your IAT under gauges.. some ppl get intercoolers to keep her cool during summer days.
Also, if you drive manual dont shift past 6k rpms keep it around 5500 - 5800 rpms... look at dyno charts to see why.
Enjoy your car!
@@M4B21S88 Thanks and thanks for the reply again! I got the automatic, sitting at almost 200 miles. So I still have a way to go! I'll check out those forums and the octane boosters, thanks again! It's been an amazing car so far and I don't even know what the dealer used to fill it up, I'm assuming 87. So once I need to refill I'll start using 91. Hopefully prices don't go up more hah..
Jake Smith meh, honestly I dont mind spending $5-7 more at the pump weekly... its worth it!
Enjoy the new ride!
PLZZZZZ DO A 2019 FORD FUSION HYBRID SE. PLZZZZZZZ
I wish Dodge, Ford, and Chevy would stop shipping sport cars to the Northeast and other cold weather climates with summer tires. They are utterly useless for people who want to drive their cars in the wintertime.
Was that a full throttle take off? 😄 didn’t sound like it.
What performance exhaust would you recommend for the Ecoboost?
I have AWE Touring on my GT and I love it! You can get one for your Ecoboost at cjponyparts.com but Ford Performance by Borla is good and Corsa is good too!
Mbrp race series
Just bought one today how do I start it my key fob
CBS Slashahollic Tap the lock button twice then tap the 2x button twice and it’ll start right up remotely enjoy!
how is blind spots?
Not bad I didn't have any trouble

The idiot at my ford in Canada told me it’s v6 with eco boost . After arguing with the idiot I gave up. We bought. 2017 last Jan and was told then - that v6 are not being made anymore (which is sad)
I didn’t like the eco boost at ALL how you could feel it pull when you accelerate and it goes to 70,80,90km and so on. Hated it . We bought a V6. Sad they don’t make the v6 anymore - that’s awful
It's very strong. Don't gave me wrong. I have gt v8 v6 and now EcoBoost. R u kidding me. EcoBoost is not fast. Its faster then any car of mustang......
For the price of a really loaded up premium EcoBoost, I'd rather just go for a base GT lol. I could see myself upgrading to a GT down the road, but I'm not 100% certain because I love my base Eco. Btw, not a full review... you didn't test out the line lock. Lol jk
Lol line lock in freezing temps would be fun!
No thanks on those stripes...
Interesting...let me guess there is no key hole on either door so when the battery goes out you are permanently locked out of your car and have to have it towed. My aunt has already experienced this with her Ford Five Hundred!
I’m thinking about trading my 2017 in for a 2020 mustang. Just can’t make my mind up. Guess I got plenty of time though.😅😂🤣
FFWR- 108 2020 should be legendary heard the gt is going to get the biggest upgrade
Stinger GT before this.
Bobby Crypto performance wise, the stinger GT is closer to a pre ‘18 v8 mustang...
Price wise is not remotely close to the Eb either... are there EB’s that are fully loaded being sold for almost 40k? Sure but im willing to bet that most dont buy the Eb for that much, the stinger starts out at 40k.
If you were watching a review of the GT, then your comment would be more valid, I guess..
The exhsust sounds funny!...lol 🤣
bro i hate the lights
It's so cheap in the US :/
Where can I find those rims ? Thanks
I’d rather get a pre owned 5.0...
