    I won’t really do multi color stuff but I’m excited to just have rolls ready to go and dry that’s amazing in itself. Most do petg some pla but I can have 4 different rolls of filament two pla two petg and switch with ease that’s amazing

    Can you run any filament or is it rfid only and you have to rewind filament on empty spools like bambu

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  Месяц назад

      Any filament works. They do support Anycubic rfid spools for convenience but any spools will work.

    Is this a better purchase than the k1c? Because right now at least in my region they are the exact same price.

    • @Thee_Gamefanatic
      @Thee_Gamefanatic 2 месяца назад

      That's a loaded question. If you want 4 colors, the K1C cannot compete at this price point. However this device, by design, is limited in what it can print, where the K1C is not due to its CoreXY design. If you run this printer at its maximum speed with a tall and slinder print you fill find that you will have to slow it down. The K1C can continue to print at Top speed. The K1C is enclosed enabling it to handle filaments that need an enclosure.
      So.. Just depends on your current goals. If you just want the ability to do 4 colors and/or filaments, this is a great option. If you need more capability and 4 filaments isn't as big of a concern the K1C will do the job.

    How do you get your benchy to print at 11 minutes? When I change the settings pretty drastically I still can't get it below 30 minutes. I feel like I am missing an important setting. I turned a lot of the settings up to crazy speeds to just see if the time changed and some of the setting changes make no real difference.

      That was an included file that was already on the machine. I haven't yet inspected it to see how they accomplished it.

    Hi, what is the price on this? I mean, is it less than the Bambu A1 combo? Is there a reason to NOT get the Bambu and get this one instead? A like for like with a proven track record on one seems like the price would have to be VERY attractive .

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  3 месяца назад

      The Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo is currently on sale for $450, which is about $40 less than the Bambu A1 combo on sale. I don't yet have enough testing to be able to compare them, but that proven track record is a good point to keep in mind.

      I just confirmation mine is shipping. I have a an A1 and A1 mini. Why did I decide to get this one? Well the potential for 8 colors is one major reason. I know that it can be wasteful but I have projects that are more art pieces then selling that I'm working on. The other reasons some filaments don't run well on the AMS lite however when you look up the specs they will run with the regular AMS. I'm not talking about exotics and such where you need an enclosed printer. This is a direct competitor to the Bambu Labs. However it is brand new so some accessories are not available yet like different sized nozzles or replacement nozzles or how a second ACE will work but I have high hopes.

      Absolutely. This has been a very user friendly machine with great capabilities that you can grow into.

    Does multicolor automatically mean multi material? Like PETG and PLA for support.

    want to know what orientations you can place the ACE besides to the left of the printer.

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  3 месяца назад

      They recommend just the left. The right side has the purging wiper which would fling plastic onto it. The default bowden tubes might be long enough for the ACE to go under the printer when the lid is closed, but it wouldn't have enough slack for you to be able to open it the lid. You could do behind, if you face the ACE behind.

    • @sheilaolfieway1885
      @sheilaolfieway1885 2 месяца назад

      recommended on the left as its designed that way

  • @mikebal7777
    @mikebal7777 3 месяца назад +3

    This hardware DESPERATELY needs better software. At launch there doesn't appears to be a way to adjust the filament change waste or even remove the purge block. So multicolor prints literally use more wasted filament than filament for the actual print.

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  3 месяца назад

      I'm still getting to know the machine, but there is a purge setting in the ACE tab on the printer that you can tell it to extrude more or less when wiping. You can't change if there is a purge block or not from the printer since that's part of the gcode, but the Anycubic Slicer does let you remove the purge block.
      There is a crazy amount of waste though when switching colors. The 4 color gyro example print is 60 grams of filament, but produced 221 grams of waste. It's certainly something I'm keeping track of to see if there's any good way of reducing it.

    • @redline6871
      @redline6871 3 месяца назад +1

      Nothing is perfect on release day and bambulabs still produce a lot of wast even when adjusted it will get better though and orca slicer will be good for it as well eventually.

      @@redline6871 I am hoping, so long as they keep their word on OPEN SOURCE we should be good. I've had very good results on my old Kobra 1 Max, but the non-standard board/firmware forced me to learn more about manual gcode than I wanted LOL.

      I imagine that any of the slicers have a number of options to both reduce the amount of waste as well as turn it into something useful.

    Does it work with klipper?

    • @HoffmanEngineering
      @HoffmanEngineering  3 месяца назад

      It runs KobraOS, which is Anycubic version of klipper. But, I haven't dug into it yet to see if you can get root access to install plug-ins and uis and stuff like a normal klipper install. You might need to search around the internet for that answer.

    • @oneanother1
      @oneanother1 2 месяца назад

      Saw in another video that it will open source klipper on it. The kobra2pro was locked klipper, meaning no way to access the machine. Have to wait and see, they have yet to make the multi color work with other slicers. Any cubic has new known to not support their machines in any way. They just release unfinished products and release another unfinished product a year later. They are coming out with a corexy machine too.
