Yup, Pantone color institute creates colors for brands to use, so the only reason it is "Pantone" filament is because Pantone created the color for Anycubic.

I really love your channel but I have to say this seemed like you REALLY wanted to like this printer and made every excuse for it. Every time it did something bad. You blamed something other than the printer. Your room, or the filament or the rotation of the earth. I really think you should think twice about doing a review of a product in the same video that the manufacturer is sponsoring. It’s one thing to accept a free printer it’s another thing entirely to review it when they are sponsoring the video. Please keep your integrity and do better in the future.
I felt the same way... even though it clearly said it is sponsored, it got me confused with his enthusiastic response to a bad print and for a moment there it felt like a review. I click to the thumbnail hoping his opinion will help me decide to buy this machine but now I am hesitant until I see a proper review. No hate here as I love his content so far, just hope it will improve on the future on how sponsors videos are set.
For me this review kinda ruined your reputation, which is very sad to see. It was clearly rushed, important details (like amount of poop, filament swap times, etc.) are missed (intentionally?), actually terrible quality presented as "nice"... Everyone will make a very reasonable assumptions why so much balls were dropped...
All those prints look awful, like first gen 3d prints awful. That makita top surface needs alot of work. Looks like this printer is nowhere near primetime.
"I can't print PETG".... Proceeds to try and print ASA unenclosed 🤦♂️ Decent enough intro/spotlight video for the printer, but it is completely lacking in any real substance (IE technical details) that would lead me to actually consider buying it. Just felt like a whole lotta fluff, and I guess that's all a paid/sponsored, early-release video can be...
I hope when you do a full review you really compare the printers construction, color changing waste, and ease of use vs the bambu A1 combo. Their prices are close enough that im really wondering if the kobra3 is worth it. Sure it has a fillament dryer, but afaik the axis are just roller bearings not even liear bearings vs the A1's linear rails
how do you know it's a great printer? lol - also it poops off the right side the same way the BBL A1/A1mini poop off the left. It doesn't have a nozzle cleaner though as far as anyone can tell, vs the BBL models clean the nozzle as they exit their poop sled.
Sell out, I'll wait for the legitimate reviews from people who are paying for these units. I have several Bambu lab and Anycubics and the Anycubic printers are not dialed in at all, and the slicer is dire! i hope they catch up soon but at the moment they feel like they're rushing to catchup rather than refining their products BEFORE releasing them!!
Was the benchy so bad you didn’t want to show it? I mean it’s the whole reason to print it and it was sliced at the factory with their best settings you would assume. All the comments concerning others slicing for you and profiles not ready etc at least that is by them. I want to like the printer but as a non review video, if it’s so bad you don’t want to own a review about it, I’m not interested in owning the printer. It all looks good until it doesn’t. Thanks for the video and hope to see another when it’s ready for prime time.
I can't review it until the slicer and profiles are ready... and even still, I wouldn't review it based on a 12 minute benchy. Also, I'm not doing reviews anymore, because they're lose-lose...
Definitely, and we also know that you have horrific listening comprehension skills. Maybe next time I will write “SPONSORED VIDEO, PROFILES NOT READY YET” on my forehead for you.
@thenextlayer ah man. Take the criticism, you are attempting to sell us a machine that simply is a gimmick and not ready. Integrity would be giving the machine back and telling anycubic you don't want to push a product that isn't in the same league as its competitor. I say this as someone who runs a large channel and your responses here are gonna do damage to your brand.
you need to be carefull with mixing up sponsored and editorial content - this could backfire and undermines your integrity as a "journalist" so please for the future: don't do this
Damn those prints look bad man I'm sorry. It's full of under extrusion on the multi color. I run a farm and wouldnt buy this for producing products based on your result.
How on Earth does any reviewer of multi color prints not show the purge system and waste it generates compared to other brands? Also, I will always be skeptical of any reviewer who is paid by the manufacturer of the product shown in the video. Yeah yeah i know "my opinions are my own" but really...if you are getting paid and want to get paid and sent products in the future, are you really going to be that critical? And those prints don't look all that great either.
Can't call it prints like crap when it is a paid video right ? What about this new trend of selling and releasing then fixing things up ? Make it at least print nice then sell it ...
I appreciate that you say this is not a review but most people watching this are going to look at this video and see all the errors and form an initial opinion of this printer, RFID spools would have solved the temperature errors! if Anycubic wants to compete with Bambu Lab they needed to send out a finished machine for people to form an opinion on, the purging of the waste filament needs to be something better than flicking it, are users meant to sit by the machine catching filament purges whilst their part prints? of course, there will be a multitude of bins available to print for the waste purge but I can see them having ridiculously large back planes to stop flicked filament flying in semi random directions. I know that heat + magnets and magnetic fields are not a good combination and so I am curious how well the filament changers motors will stand up to the heat from the drying process. So far Im not impressed by this machine, no matter how much cheaper it is than a Bambu Lab printer.
I was getting ready to get my first 3d printer. But with all these multi color printers coming out I guess I should wait a few more months to see what else is released before making a purchase. I know the k2 is getting coming out in July.
Idk how long you've waited, or how tight money is for you, but the best thing in my opinion to get into 3d printing is to just buy a 3d printer. At this point, new 3d printers have been regularly coming out for the last year or so, and holding off on buying one might just suspend you in the waiting phase forever.
get your first printer and learn to use it and troubleshoot print issues before going multi color. Even something turnkey like a bambu will require troubleshooting and setting adjustments at times
@@aleks138 I was kinda thinking about that, I was originally looking at the ender 3 v3 corexz. But I only have room for one printer, I actually have to make room for it. So I don't want to get something that I'll out grow, eventually I'd probably want the multi color stuff.
If Anycubic makes that ACE unit work on other brand machines.....Bye bye Bambu. That would all but crush Bambus AMS proprietary system. As it is there are ZERO reasons to buy the Bambu A1 over the Cobra 3. C3 is faster, newer technology, takes up less room, and costs a lot less. The only people I see buying the A1 over this is Bambu fans and brand loyalists
Maybe. There's something to be said about Bambu having 100% perfect profiles out of the box, and AnyCubic has yet to prove those. Also, maybe people don't like AnyCubic's slicer, but love Orca and Bambu Studio
@@thenextlayer Interesting, I didnt know Orca slicer was a Bambu only slicer, Odd how that must have just happened. and Bambu's slicer is nothing more than a Prusa slicer reskin...Also As far as Bambu having perfect profiles out of the box, Thats just false. I can say that 100% as I own 2 of them (P1P and P1S) and neither of them print TPU or PETG very well "right out of the box" with the stock profile. TPU you have to change the speed and temp settings and PETG you have to change Bed temps to get them right. I am not the only ones that experience this as I am sure you know.
Thanks for the video, but it really left me wanting to know way more than you really went over. Being multi material, I have liked to actually see material changes and how much is wasted. Also, it didn't seem like any of the prints turned out to what would be considered good quality. Seems like there was an excuse for each issue. We all know it can take some dialing in a filament profile but should be able to get at least one type printing well. Left me very unimpressed with the performance of the machine.
I bought the Kobra 2 Pro about six or seven months ago and it a super solid printer. I’ve got 495 hours on it and I’ve pushed nearly four kilometers of filament through it. It’s certainly a better machine than I thought I was getting
Many (most) printer companies go through retailers in Israel, not out of some political decision, but because customs fees, shipping, and logistics just aren't worth it for the customer. That's at least what Sovol has told me.
Please make a part 2 of this where you review the machine again with everything optimized and more importantly where you review the drawing capabilities of the material system and the amount of poop compared to other similar devices
Totally honest, I am absolutely not interested in this printer. BUT I am interested in the MMU thing. That would be awesome if it would work with other printers. I don't really want to build something like the ECRF for my voron and also having a filament dryer built in seems nice
It would be realy nice if they would make the ACE unit available for 3rd party printers. Unlike ERCF, MMU2 etc. the ACE (and the AMS) actually have their feeders permanently engaged, as they sychronice the AMS/ACE feeder to the extruder (I disassembled the AMS-"buffer", turns out it uses a slider, a spring, a magnet and a hall-effect sensor). On the A1(lite) this actually is on the top. I am sure the Kobra 3 uses the same method. So it would be realy nice if it could be connected to klipper. Or even a Prusa mk4. If you have a printer with integrated nozzle/heatbreak combo and "normal flow" (like Revo, Nextruder and TUN), you get nice filament tip on unload, no need for cut&poo. This reduces not only waste but also changing times. So a printer with standard flow integrated nozzle/heatbreak combo do not need cut&poo. However, a MMU3, ERCF etc. is much harder to set up and can fail if the filament spools are not optimal placed. So combining the ACE/AMS with it´s easy filament handling with a printer with reliable unload ramping procedure and easy to change nozzle (insert high-flow nozzle for single-colour and standard-flow for multicolour) would be best of both worlds. For me personally, I would like to use the ACE with a Qidi X-Max3. That printer has a heated chamber, and I would realy like multicolour parts in ABS. Also of course the Sovol 08 might be a candidate. With the Revo coldend presented in another video, it should be able to change filaments without cut&poo if using a standard revo nozzle, while printing fast with high-flow revo. Combine this with a toolchanger (high flow nozzle for main colour in tool0, standard-flow nozzle in tool 1 with ACE connected, TPU in tool2 and support material in tool3) and the posibilitys are endless.
I live in a very DRY environment, and from back in my PRUSA days, I always hated PETG. Stringing. But with the Bambu Lab and AMS I LOVE PETG. Now I hate PLA because it breaks in the AMS.
I have a X1C with AMS. I used a good amount of BL, Polymaker and eSun PLA (regular and matte), and didn't face any breaking. As far as I can tell, PLA breaking means it is brittle, so you probably have moisture/heat damaged and/or low quality filament. Or maybe you have any other ideas on why it could break?
The fact they're looking to make the multicolor system compatible with other printers definitely makes it enticing, in addition to the fact that it's a filament dryer; hopefully they get the bugs worked out before too long, but I don't exactly have the capital to make one up at the moment anyway, so by the time that comes along it should be working fine :p
I really liked your video and i want to get Kobra 3 as an update from my old mega S can you tell me if it noisy?? On my mega s i changed all the fans with noctua cause they were loud. I would have it run in more than 100-200mm/s even though it can go higher. Can you test its noise on a print in these speeds?
Just thought I would add my 5p’s worth to this video. My 9yeat old cocker spaniel squats down and lifts her rear leg to pee! As for the printer and anycubic. Bambu seem to be a bit scared. They have kept the sale price on the a1 with combo as people seem to be trying this printer out.
But not while it's printing... I don't see the multi filament system or purge process anywhere in this video

Thanks for the video, I am one of those who has made the leap into the void of buying this printer without knowing anything about it and currently there is a great lack of information about it :)
Now if they make the head and multicolor swappable to say the 2max... that would be awesome I'd buy it to upgrade my max. Bulk multicolor cuts down.on waste
All prints in this video look horrible /o\ And these models like the Makita or Tesla logo would look way better and print faster and easier without any poop, with just a colorchange at a specific layer.
"I couldn't tell where the pause was" - they're right there on the end of his feet! :-D . I would love to trick out my Anycubic Kobra Neo 2 with an ACE unit...
If they can integrate the ACE with older printers, especially ender models, that will provide a much better value proposition. An open source multicolour unit with an orca slicer integration would be even better, as it could work with bambu...
I like it but I have 2 deal breakers: I outright refuse to use their slicer. Tried it and hate it. It MUST be fully compatible with existing kobra 2 (both Marlin and klipper versions). Until both of those terms are met I can't consider this to be something I'd spend money on.
My Kobra 3 Combo arrived yesterday. But they didn't have a slicer for non-windows-users. Now I have to find a friend with a windows pc. 😭 I wrote anycubic about it and hope they'll release a profil in the next days
Worked great until it broke after a week...the advertised anti-clog detection system didn't shut it down when it got clogged up so the printer kept shoving filament into the print head assembly, freezing it to the track so that we couldn't disassemble it to clean it out. Returned it for a refund.
The print quality of these, especially the dog, is horrible. Slicer settings aside, it should still be able to line up the colours nicely and it doesn't. This thing doesn't come close to finished quality of Bambu. It may be $100 cheaper than Bambu, but you'll never get Bambu print quality from it. So its actually an argument and promotion to buy the Bambu, as this printer is clearly a cheaply made knock off.
I would like to buy a printer with a color changing system. It was actually supposed to be the Bambulab A1. Can the Kobra 3 keep up with the quality of the A1? greetings from Germany
Sorry if I misheard, but did you say they were making it where you could add that ACE to other Anycubic printers? I am in the play area of McDonald's with my kid and the volume of the room exceeds the phone...lol Anyway, I am guessing a head replacement or something? I have a Kobra 2 Max and that would be wicked to print some behemoth full color toys/busts/robot parts...for my daughter of course...lol

Its an A1 clone (clearly) and the 8 color isn't out yet for it. Do note that the Bambu A1 does have an extra AMS port on its back, so it does look like they are planning on adding in support for a 2nd AMS Lite or support for two normal AMS systems.

I like the idea of combining a filament driver with an AMS like system. I have a single Bambu printer and am too used to the ease of printing Bambu offers. I don't see myself getting into another brand anytime soon.
I can't wait to have multicolor with the ace pro on my Anycubic Vyper. Hopefully it'll allow installation with klipper because I installed klipper. I also use that same gamestop camera for my printer 6:44!
I am glad that they are already creating support for Prusaslicer, because just starting out with multicolor printing I have noticed they are the best at blocking out colors. Hard to beat the best.
Thanks for the review! my biggest complaint with AnyCubic is their lack of open source transparency and license violations. Maybe with the 3 series they will see the light.
Innovation drives up the price, my guy. I don't mind the "repetition", as long as it works and is affordable right now. This could mean real competition. That, on its own, will bring up innovations.
Love the little filament icons to denote which filament is being used on screen, but would love if the color of the roll roughly matched the color of the filament, especially when there are multiple at once so you don’t have to pause it to read through them all and figure out which is the blue and which is the orange and which is the brown
do the AMS style systems just recognize they are plugged in or how do the AMS and the printer communicate :) i have never had an AMS style printer and im looking at getting one at some point once bugs and stuff are fixed
please answer the question "This printer can print ABS and other abrasive materials when you don't want to print in color, that is, directly from the spool to the extruder without the ACE PRO. And if I enclose it, could it print ABS, polycarbonate, or nylon?"
Ummm you’ll need a wear resistant nozzle to print ABS. But I see no reason why it couldn’t print ABS NYLON PC Etc if enclosed. Still, it’s not really intended for that. A properly enclosed printer might be better
75% humidity all year round? You must have at least one room with a dehumidifier, right? I don't print much with PETG anymore but I keep mine in vacuum bags with some desiccant. I keep my space below 40% humidity and between 26c-30c, never have any issues printing.

So I believe the person is saying "why did they other putting resources into a 1.4 version when they could have just made a Prusa or orca profile in time for launch"
He repeatedly specified that this wasn’t a review during the video.
NOT a review, as I stated repeatedly. AnyCubic sponsored this video so I could show it off. I believe I made that very clear.
He
He's not going to review it because he took the $$$$. Even if he did I am sure it would be 9/10 !! Always follow the money!

Proceeds to try and print ASA unenclosed 🤦♂️
Decent enough intro/spotlight video for the printer, but it is completely lacking in any real substance (IE technical details) that would lead me to actually consider buying it. Just felt like a whole lotta fluff, and I guess that's all a paid/sponsored, early-release video can be...
I agree! early-release videos are to no one's benefit IMO, especially when they are full of mistakes.
Nice video, would of liked to see more videos of the colour changing and how anycubic deals with purging. Thanks
Yeah I don't know how I forgot to do that. My bad.
Well, I foubd a video I cant watch with my 3 and half year old son... He already wants Dad to buy two tractors for him. Lol
Its nice to see a company roll out a filament changer that has a filament dryer and is not so proprietary.
How is it not equally as proprietary as the Bambu AMS? Can I use it with other printers?
@@TheKingOfSpain He mentions they said they intend that, yes.
hey this is a great printer. I have a dumb question lol. How does the purging occur, i didnt see any purge block or "poop" as the bambu users call it
Poops out the right side. I’m embarrassed that I forgot to show or mention that. It flicks poop. There’s also a priming tower
It poops off to the right
How can you say it is a great printer? you haven't seen it working very well up to press!
how do you know it's a great printer? lol - also it poops off the right side the same way the BBL A1/A1mini poop off the left. It doesn't have a nozzle cleaner though as far as anyone can tell, vs the BBL models clean the nozzle as they exit their poop sled.
So you think an extra $110 and NO DRYER is worth getting a little rubber foot? 😂🤣😂😂@@aeonjoey3d
I bet there are plenty of people waiting for a Kobra 3 Max!
Hadn't thought of that, but yeah, that would be awesome.
Kobra 3 Plus will come soon then maybe a Kobra 3 Max.
Also, I'm not doing reviews anymore, because they're lose-lose...
those are absolutely the most horrific looking prints... Now we know whos in your pocket
I say this as someone who runs a large channel and your responses here are gonna do damage to your brand.
you need to be carefull with mixing up sponsored and editorial content - this could backfire and undermines your integrity as a "journalist"
so please for the future: don't do this
What about auto-levelling and z-offset? Did I kinda miss it?
Damn those prints look bad man I'm sorry. It's full of under extrusion on the multi color. I run a farm and wouldnt buy this for producing products based on your result.
How on Earth does any reviewer of multi color prints not show the purge system and waste it generates compared to other brands? Also, I will always be skeptical of any reviewer who is paid by the manufacturer of the product shown in the video. Yeah yeah i know "my opinions are my own" but really...if you are getting paid and want to get paid and sent products in the future, are you really going to be that critical? And those prints don't look all that great either.
I literally said multiple times that this is not a review. It’s a sponsored video.
Can't call it prints like crap when it is a paid video right ?
What about this new trend of selling and releasing then fixing things up ?
Make it at least print nice then sell it ...
Sorry, that Makita sign was pretty bad. It was worse than the old MakerBot 2X iI used to have years ago.
Yeah, I need to reprint it.
Babu Labs just shoot out poop, have you complained to them about unfinished printers?
What did you use for a layer height? Personally, I think those prints look terrible.
0.2, and yeah, as I mentioned, Profiles are far from dialed in
@@thenextlayer thanks for the response. 😁
9:36 I cant take you serious if you call this a good print. 🤣
No klipper? No, thanks.
@@anthonylong5870 Orca is based on Bambu Slicer but they have included more support for brands than the other brands themselves do.
Yeah that was an oversight. And yeah, this machine (software wise) wasn’t ready for a proper review, hence the first look. Sorry to disappoint!
I bought the Kobra 2 Pro about six or seven months ago and it a super solid printer. I’ve got 495 hours on it and I’ve pushed nearly four kilometers of filament through it. It’s certainly a better machine than I thought I was getting
dont wanna hate but 99% of printers can print ASA and ABS in way you printed it. Taller models would be problem thou.
Why are you supporting a company that will ship to almost everywhere but won't ship to Israel?
Maybe because it's basically an active warzone?
Many (most) printer companies go through retailers in Israel, not out of some political decision, but because customs fees, shipping, and logistics just aren't worth it for the customer. That's at least what Sovol has told me.
until now kobra 2 max still not yet in orca slicer stable update, you have to manually create and tune it. I really doubt on their progress.
Thanks for letting me know... that is troubling.
@@thenextlayer Might try the A1 profile.
This is the video I’ve been needing! I’m wondering if this is better than a bambu A1, and this vid has helped loads on forming my opinion
I don't have an A1, so fortunately, I don't have to navigate the potential bias of recommending a sponsor's product vs. another product... heh!
@@thenextlayer That’s always a good thing in my experience!
I just hope that they let the ACE work with the Kobra 2 Max.
My exact thoughts ! I can’t wait to see the retrofit kit to upgrade my K2 Max ! Can you imagine doing a 8 color print on that monster ?
These prints do not look good. I would spend the extra hundred and by the Bambu A1, because the smooth prints quality is clearly not rivaled by this.
I had the anycubic Kobra Neo for 170 Dollars. Never got this Printing Problems. You just gotta adjust You’re Settings
Should I regret spending 2k aud on the x1 carbon over this which also has levelling and multi colour and speed?
finally someone how shows some multicolor prints!
This is what I’ve been looking for
But not while it's printing...
All prints in this video look horrible /o\
And these models like the Makita or Tesla logo would look way better and print faster and easier without any poop, with just a colorchange at a specific layer.
Can you talk about the software? I've found it's both awful and not available on the Mac.
Every one of those prints were terrible. Thanks for showing the actual quality and saving me from purchasing one of these printers.
i didn't even found the win version of their new slicer😥
I agree, they promised me it’ll be 1000% compatible with orca and Prusa so that’s good
I think you didn't address the most important spec: print time for multi-filament
I guess my Anycubic Vyper will be too old to get support for the ACE but if not I definitely will buy an ACE unit
At the moment getting the combo is way cheaper than buying the two parts separately.
Well I'm long time viewer, never a comment-er but you sold me I ordered one. your order N2************
Yeah now print a box the same size in ASA. I guarantee you it won't work. If the print stay stuck to the bed the bed itself is going to warp.

Now I have to find a friend with a windows pc. 😭
I wrote anycubic about it and hope they'll release a profil in the next days
They’ll release orca profiles soon
Worked great until it broke after a week...the advertised anti-clog detection system didn't shut it down when it got clogged up so the printer kept shoving filament into the print head assembly, freezing it to the track so that we couldn't disassemble it to clean it out. Returned it for a refund.
Dang. Sorry to hear that. Yeah, it’s not polished yet but I hope software updates will fix that
The print quality of these, especially the dog, is horrible.
Well, I don't have the final profiles, so it's hard to say, but, hardware-wise, it should be able to keep up with that.
No, copy is copy, Bambu the best.

"This printer can print ABS and other abrasive materials when you don't want to print in color, that is, directly from the spool to the extruder without the ACE PRO.
They really should have asked you if you use Mac or PC and figured out a better solution. Man their marketing dept is really lax
75% humidity all year round? You must have at least one room with a dehumidifier, right? I don't print much with PETG anymore but I keep mine in vacuum bags with some desiccant. I keep my space below 40% humidity and between 26c-30c, never have any issues printing.
