I've been printing almost non-stop with my Kobra 3 for the last month, it has a few quirks but prints like a champ once you figure out how to tame it. The built in filament dryer is also great, and it has the ability to use a second ACE to get 8 color printing.
@@shawnrains4047 Cool, saw a lot of people complaining that they have problems. Especially with z-offset. You have no such issues? Do you run the latest firmware?
Your reasons for buying the Bambu are the exact reasons I moved to them. I’m tired of having a newly released machine dumped by the company for even bug fixing shortly after launch. Because of Bambu focusing on a great product and software that works, and is updated well beyond release date. They are the largest consumer 3D printer company every quarter by selling more than 1/3 of printers. A million printers are sold each quarter. Once I put down my pitchfork against them, and tried the printer. I sold everything else. I hope competition is built over the next few years by companies as Bambu has shown the market does react to excellent products. Your honest opinions do keep me coming back for each video! Great job, and thanks for all you do!
"I’m tired of having a newly released machine dumped by the company for even bug fixing shortly after launch." One big benefit of Prusa machines for years now. Even the old MK2 and MK3 are still supportet in a way that they got updates, you get parts and the documentation is broadly available. Let alone that you could upgrade from a MK3 to a MK4 and now MK4S is just brilliant.
Instead of trying to match everything Bambu is doing Anycubic needs to make a better printer than Bambu. Just concentrate on making one really problem free quality printer that will last and consistently put out great prints and offer it at a fair price. Anycubic needs to put out a printer as good of quality as Prusa makes and sell it at Bambu prices! I’d buy one of those! But there is no point in me buying a less quality Bambu clone at a slightly cheaper price!
I had 3 Anycubics, Kobra Max, 2 Max and Kobra 3. I had nothing but problems with the three. I never knew if a print would be successful. I got rid of them for Bambu Labs, two A1s, and two X1Cs. It was the best choice I ever made. I can now print with expected results without tinkering. I don't mind maintenance, but I don't like tinkering one bit. I am eagerly waiting for what comes next out of Bambu Labs.
Me, too! On my Kobra 2 Pro I came back to my print to see a huge golf ball size glob of filament on the hotend and the printer was trying to drive the bed through the table, LOL! It never worked the same after that!
I've been rocking the same Vyper since it was a preorder. I've put possibly 80 rolls of PLA and 5 of TPU through it. Both of these look like solid upgrades to what I have though.
4:00. No, the 256x256x256mm of the A1 is NOT comparable to the P1 and X1 series. 2 words: Exclusion Zones. Without jumping through hoops on the P1 and X1 printers to disable the AMS and bypass the 250mm height limitation, you can't readily print a 256mm cube. But on the A1 I was able to print a 255mm cube with snug on-print supports that stuck out of the sides of the print into that final 256th mm. The A1 truly has the largest print volume of all Bambu Lab printers out of the box, and using the AMS.
Except RatRig, I don't think I'll ever go in the near future outside of Bambu ecosystem. I love the simplicity, relability and user experience Bambu gives to their customers. Great Video Ross!
Voron's were great but the cult like base that has developed keeps inventing problems to make elaborate fixes for and grift selling hardware solutions. I hardly recognise the machine nor it's community anymore.
I have a Kobra 3, and a x1c. There is a big difference in quality or machine and the x1c prints out better. But is it 1,100$ better… not so much. I’ve had almost the exact same success rate. The real difference is the bambu works out of the box, the Kobra 3 took a few weeks to tweak and wear in. That might be worth the 1,100$ difference.
I’ve loved my experience with my P1S. I’ve become interested in resin printing now but it appears there doesn’t seem to be a Bambu equivalent manufacturer for resin. They keep improving but there doesn’t seem to be a clear cut printer.
My Kobra getting better day by day. Every fw update add value for the printer. Timelapse, rfid, tangle detection, spaghetti detection, etc. Various type of pei, peo sheets available (I use carbon like peo for months) for few euro. well. the password input is a little bit under engineered.... sometimes lost the network. after every fw update need to setup all again. these days a birthday action and with a 30€ coupon just 340€. worth it...
I have a few hundred hours on my kobra 3. It has been rock solid. They had issues and anycubic rushed to get hotends and beds out to people. Plus anycubic now has its own verison of orcaslicer. I think this printer is going to last. And yes I own bambu printers as well lol
I have been putting off getting a 3d printer. I like being budget oriented on new hobbies. This hobby will feed my other hobbies so I just want it to work. I think I am getting ready to get the Bambu A1. The Kobra 3 looks good here, but you really did make a huge statement with saying " Make a purchase or make an investment " As promising as the Kobra 3 looks ( the dryer incorporated into the ACE looks amazing ) I am getting into this hobby to print things for my other hobbies, not to tinker with a machine constantly and it seems like Bambu Labs is 100% the company that will give me my best chances at that. Thank you for this video. The price on the Kobra Combo right now is cheaper than the A1 stand alone so it was tempting.
I am very very new to 3d printing. I bought a used Flashforge Creator Pro. Used it and learned the pains and joys of 3d printing. So I saved some money and bought a new Bambu A1. And have not found a reason to think it was a bad choice. As a retired service rep I'm into and obsessed with maintenance, so it is in tip top condition before starting every print. I feel the very few failed prints were my mistakes. Slicer settings, material management etc. I've been curious about that new MK 3 combo since it's release, and this video reinforces my feeling that my purchase was and still is the right choice.
the Kobra 3 has a lot of faults, if you want to keep tinkering and replacing hot ends then fine but if you want a printer that works get an A1, I returned my Kobra 3 combo and got an A1 with AMS lite
Anycubic made a second slicer built on Orca slicer with more profiles then the standard slicer! And the prints look better from that slicer on my kobra 3. I love how easy I can use that machine. And it prints great and built solid as a battleship. And the ace unit is awesome. But great bamboo advertising.
@joeking433 well I'm good! I own this printer it has just gotten it's 3 slicer update since I've had it. It works flawless so far. I get best first layer of any printer I've owned. Print quality is great using kingroon petg multi color 10 pack from ebay that cost $80. The best bed adhesion over my S1 pro or neptune 4 plus. Petg sticks like crazy with temp set at 80c on bed. I find myself using this machine for every thing not just multi color. Love the ace pro. I can dry 4 spools at once and it is seal so good if you don't open it you don't have to dry again .leaving petg in it for weeks without worry is great.
@@bob557 Maybe Anycubic has finally gotten it’s act together. We’ll have to wait and see if they can compete with BAMBU. I think the competition will get BL to up their game and lower prices.
There is a saying in Portuguese that is very simple: Poor people cannot be cheap. If I had lots of money to spare I could buy a Kobra 3. If it gives me head aches I can just throw it off the window, right? But I don't have money to spare so I try to only buy from brands I trust. I wasn't always like this but life taught me you only get what you pay for (or less than that, never more). And the only brand I trust for fdm 3d printers is Bambu. I have had more than 10 different 3d printers, all of them fdm, some very expensive, almost all of them from different brands. The only 3d printer I kept from the old days was my Tenlog Hands 2, which is idex. I still have my Qidi X-Plus 3 which I only bought because it had very good reviews and at the time bambu had recalled the A1 and wasn't selling it. I finally bought my A1 and it is leaps and bounds better than any 3d printer I ever had. I plan to buy the new bambu printer they promised for the first quarter of 2025 and I plan to buy the HeyGears reflex. That's because I also trust FauxHammer videos. Ross is always opinionated and always tries to help people in making informed purchases. None of the fdm youtuber's does that, none of the most popular ones at least. Their background is open source diy 3d printing, so they are all diy project oriented. None of them realized 3d printing is not about figuring out how to make your 3d printer print, 3d printing is about printing. They all cater for a different hobby, which is to tinker with poorly engineered machines. Maybe they think there is a future for such a hobby but there isn't one. By all means I hope other brands will catch up, but it's been 3 years and they aren't even close. It is not only about the machine itself, it is about the continuous evolution of its software, it is about the ecosystem, it is about repeatability and it is about piece of mind. You need very good engineering and you need very good QA, but you also need a vision. It seems only Dr.Tao has it.
@@guilhermesagaz3792 Eu gosto do FauxHammer porque ele é objetivo.
I've had my Anycubic Kobra 3 for a bout a month now. It works great. I've had a few failed first layer printswhen I first started using it but once I dialed in my settings, all is well. The only complaint i really have is the wires in front, like Fauxhammer mentioned. They really do get in way at times. I live in a very tropical (humid) south Florida, so the filament dryer is a must for me and It works great. Granted, you have to manually rurn it on from the printer every time you print. I have about 300 hrs on it now, so far so good.
Yeah the cables on the front is a real head scratcher, whoever thought of that needs another course in product design lol. I also had to buy an extension for the ACE pro cable, its just way too short if you want to put the printer and ace in a vertical solution (I built a shelf).. otherwise the cable is most definitely always going to be in the way. But otherwise, it's clearly not a bad printer. With a big improvement over the kobra 2 as well, id say it definitely competes with the A1 - at least once you've dialed in the settings.
recently started looking around for a new printer to upgrade from my Creality CR-10 (yes the OLD ONE ). Found a few machines i was interested in like the bambu A1 , kobra 3 combo, P1S ...and then i found your youtube videos which helped a TON in picking the A1. Highly appreciate the videos, very helpful and just what i needed to know to make a purchase.
I would love to see Bambu Lab come out with an update that allows dual AMS Lite. There are 2 ports on the machine and both are active so the only thing holding it back is software and a merging adapter. They could sell the AMS Lite with an option to include the adapter as an A1 upgrade, and could sell the whole dual AMS Lite system as a feature add on for the A1 combo. I’m certain they would run dangerously low on stock within a month of offering it.
I think the AMS Lite is overpriced. If Anycubic can sell a combo at $399 certainly Bambu can come up with a good enclosed drying AMS unit for less than $250!
Just as a note on my experience with the A1 AMS and the spools, I've only ever used cardboard spools from at least 3 or 4 different manufacturers and all of them fit the AMS without having to use a spool mod.
In my case, the kobra 3 was a whooping $180 cheaper due to import and tax prices. It was a no-brainer, however I do find the printer a little frustrating at times - With a bit of tweaking though, it's absolutely a solid printer - with solid results! I just really want them to give us a bit more control over the filament purge, fix the problem you mentioned about it clearing the extruder even if you're not printing multi-color, as well as the ability to connect to orca slicer through IP. (So far I cant see any way to), their slicer isn't terrible.. but It just lacks a bit of polish, i'd rather use orca until they figure it out.
I just bought the Kobra 3 Combo with 8 rolls of filament and the camera for a darn good price and was able to use the $30 off coupon code, too. Anniversary Sale is great!
I wish A1 has a AMS like the Kobra. AMS Lite is great, except it's open air. Alternatively, if Bambu designed A1 to be compatible with both AMS and AMS Lite that could work too, but they didn't. I currently have the A1 and AMS Lite with 3D printed enclosure to keep out moisture but I wish I could the enclosed AMS.
Dammit! Here I was ready to buy the Bambu as soon I had enough money in my hobbies account but the built-in filament dryer on the Kobra is tempting. The Bambu is certainly more polished overall, but keeping filament dry is quite important in my climate. I guess more research is required. Thanks for the info.
What good is a filament dryer if you can’t trust the printer? It’s like choosing a car that won’t start half the time because it does 0-60 in 3 seconds.
I’m not a fan of the AMS Lite, the ACE is way better. The camera is much better on the Kobra 3, the A1 /A1mini cameras are unwatchable. Latest updates for the K3 has Timelapse and New Slicer that’s basically OrcaSicer . Also you can turn on the Ace Dryer from the Workbench on your PC or your Phone App. You can also reduce the purge amount in the filament settings on the K3, just like on the Bambu. Only the filament settings are on the printer, not on the slicer like on the Bambu.
Buy the Bambu. They have good mode profits for filaments. Anycubic has generics they copy from the standards only and don't really work. You'll have to tweak and tweak. Anycubic doesn't care about tweaking profiles. One you buy it your on your own
Started on the Kobra 2 series, spent more time fixing calibrating it then actually printing. Bought an A1, liked it so much i bought another A1 a week later. Love my Bambu and never looking back.
Hi I started years ago with 2 anycubic kobra 1. I use to spend a lot of time fixing them than just printing. I’m thinking about bambu what do you think ? I feel that you had the same experience that I had
Thank you for your video. I really like Anycubic, I have the Photon Mono 4K and to this day it has been amazing. Best price/quality small resin printer. But for fdm I rly know nothing, my first option was an Ender 3 like most newbies. After almost a month reading and watching videos, I think my option is gonna be the A1.
Anycubic needs to update the “next” slicer for Mac so I can use my desktop. Pretty terrible results with anything other than the next slicer on windows right now for me.
Something to consider when comparing the pricing of the printers,- at least in the EU, is that the price of the Bamboo is listed with Tax, whereas the Kobra without it (as far as I understood it correctly from their website) . If tax and transport is factored in, the Kobra has little to none price advantage.
It comes down to who you trust more to support your printer for longer. I have to say, Bambu is young, but the recall they had to do was done so thoroughly, transparent and immediate, I have a fair bit of confidence in them. Anycubic has shown they won't support their machines if they don't meet their targets. Ultimately I went the Bambu route.
I have a couple Kobra 3 Combo's and a Kobra 2 Ma Pro . I ordered the new Kobra 3 Max Pro These printers serve me well and they have already fixed all the stuff you said in the video. Bambu is like Apple their users think that they have the best and nothing out there is better. Well I will save my money and print everybit as good with my Anycubic Printers.
I bought a Kobra 3 Combo about a month ago, and it was a nightmare, when it arrived I got 3 prints out of it, then nothing would stick to the build plate no matter what I tried, seemed like a warped bed and anycubic sent a replacement, swapped beds, got another 5 prints out of it and the same problem came back, I got tired, requested a refund and returned it and bought a P1S. I mean, when the Kobra 3 combo printed, it was amazing. fast and good quality, and the Ace pro was super good, but I didn't wanna wait for either a replacement that would or wouldn't work or exchange parts and keep swapping until it works The P1S has been the complete opposite, just setup and it prints like a charm, no issues so far
SAME, first prints were perfect, then chaos, nothing sticks. Even back to back, the z-offset would auto change without anything done. They sent a print head and I replaced it, first 2 prints great, then the nozzle crashes into the build plate when it tried to drag nozzle tip. I reset and next 2 times it did it with the last time going to print and scraping my build plate ruining it. I have emailed them asking for a refund. I want a tool not something I have to babysit every print back to back. Not to mention, like he said, it spews out tons of filament even when there is not a filament change. YES I know I can change that in settings but it still purges it twice just a little less. I have system restored, firmware updated, used both slicers and bed leveled till my face fell off. I am done with this machine. If you got a good unit, good on ya, I am going to Bambu, I hear nothing but praise.
Holy crap, what perfect timing! I'm considering getting one these during their anniversary sale, but I'm hesitant. This comparison video came out at the perfect time for me! Thank you!
@@RynoDBones Well, my roommate had already decided on the Kobra due to the more budget-friendly price. Me, if I get one, I probably will also go with the Kobra. I did some reading on reddit and they've made some improvements. They now have a fork of Orca slicer, which lets you have it do the "poop" purges intelligently as infill rather than waste, which is excellent progress. There's still some firmware hiccups where some people are having issues with it remembering the bed leveling and z-offset settings after a recent update, but it's still coming along. I rather like a challenge and seeing things grow, so I'd rather play with that than the polished but more expensive "Apple of 3d printers". Thanks for asking!
@@Bandrik I went with the Kobra 3 myself. I had a decent experience with the original Kobra, but it was about the same price as an Ender 3 at the time. I think what sold me on the K3 was the drying box function as it’s always humid where I live…plus being able to get the whole system and tons of filament for super cheap. Then AliExpress has the parts, plates, hot-ends, and all the different nozzle sizes. I guess I’m also looking forward to some tinkering and mild frustration. Ha
Would definitely like to get me an A1 at some point, but we'll see when I come upon the need and cash for it; for now, my creality V3 KE has been doing fairly decent, tho I wouldn't exactly say it's flawless..
Another PRO for Bambu is their first party filament refills are as cheap as any of the cheapest PLA and PETG out there. If you buy 4 at a time, they're $15 for each refill and free shipping over $50 order. Combined with the RFID automatic detection, I don't see a reason to buy other brands of filament because you know the first party filament always works and prints perfectly as the preset profile speeds for the auto detected profile. It's awesome!
Downside: You have to be on that program and "buy 4 at a time" when with other brands you can just buy 1-2 spools on sale and set them up in every printer (not just bambu).
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 No, they got rid of that program. Everyone pays the same price, you don’t even need to own a Bambu printer. You can also use the filament on other printers, they just won’t have automatic rfid profiling.
@@limbeboy7 That only makes sense if you can get filament significantly cheaper. But I pay $15/refill, at best I can save maybe $1-$2 per refill buying a different cheap brand. But the last time I bought a cheaper filament, it had stringing at high speed no matter how much I tried to tune it. It was a "you get what you pay for" moment.
i also wonder about the lifetime of the kobra 3, anycubic haven't always been the best to support their machines for a long time. where as bambulab has made promises about how long you can expect updates and part inventory.
I just got the Anycubic Kobra 3 combo one month ago and I can tell you, dont buy it. I have spent more money buying parts, emailing their sypport team, and more time trying to fix endless "errors" than I have actually printing. I probably shouldve just bit the bullet and should have spent a few hundred dollars more for the Bambu. Now I have never printed with a Bambu, but I rather take my chances on that than buying another Kobra 3 combo. I do have an Anycubic Neo which is still printing like a champ since Ive gotten it a while back. But please say NO to the Kobra 3 combo.
To be fair to Bambu's AMS lite. I have 3 brands of cardboard and laser cut spools, Creality Hyper PLA, eSUN, ZEN; and to date I have not had a single issue with them on the AMS Lite, and needed no adapters printed either. The only filament I have that needed some help, is from Sunlu, so that's at most 4 adapters I needed to print.
It’s actually rare to find a spool that won’t work. The ones that usually work worst are the plastic ones with a core that isn’t a straight cylinder. There are several adapters that you can print that will secure the spool so you can use it. If you print 4, all your spools will fit. It can’t do soft materials such as TPU and some PVA so those will fail no matter what spool they are on.
I'm looking at these things now and thinking ... why the hell am I still only using the Ender 3 I got 5 years ago but which has put me off from working on projects because it's so slow and prone to failures, both with the print and with the BL Touch?
Would you consider making a comparison on printer brands and their privacy policies? I know that bambu takes a lot of data, but I would be great for you to talk about this.
It's not something i go near, I'm not clued up on it and hours of reading these policies is just not something that interests me. I also don't know how to make that visually interesting in order to engage with many viewers
At December 2024 the price difference is 25% not the same.. so it's a clear chose of the Kobra even though it's ever so slightly worse... Thanks for this comparison! it was great to watch every single second of it!
We have two Anycubic resin printers and I just can't recommend them as a company over Bambu. Bambu seems to care about each printer that they make (so far). Anycubic, and pretty much every other 3d printer manufacturer, just cranks out new versions of printers without building good support structures for them.
I bought an anycubic kobra 3 combo when it first came out and, quite frankly, it was a mistake. I've bought other anycubic printers, the kobra 2 max (it works wonderfully) and the kobra neo (it has some issues). The kobra 3, on the other hand, in my opinion, is crap. While it will print beautifully using a single filament, the moment I attempt to print using multiple filaments the trouble starts almost immediately. I constantly get tangled filament error codes even though the filament is not tangled, I've even attempted to give it slack to hopefully fix the issue. Nope, it will still throw the tangled filament error code. Tried switching the slot the filament sits in, still no joy. Even tried a different brand filament, still no joy. Will work with zero error tangled filament error code using just one filament. And, recently it will throw a clogged extruder error code, when attempting to print using multiple filaments. And, it is not clogged. It does not throw a clogged extruder error code when printing using just one filament. Feels like it is an operating program issue, not the slicer program as I am using anycubic's slicer program for both types of prints (one filament and multiple filaments). Yet, when I started a ticket and let anycubic's tech know, they are sending me new sensors. If the sensors don't fix the issue, I'm throwing this piece of crap away and buying a Bambu A1 combo. Should have done that from the get-go. I feel anycubic rushed this printer to production before all of the problems were figured out. It feels cheap and just thrown together.
Sorry mate. It seems like you get lucky with these it don’t. Mine was fine. Many other peoples have been fine and whenever I say a bad thing about it such as in my Bambu A1 Vs Kobra 3 video.. I’m told I’m completely wrong and the Kobra is perfect!!!! Especially for the price. But I’ve know Anycubic long enough to expect a level in unreliability, and the problem then is that there’s no consistent response as to what your problems are. Chances are this is a lemon but the effort to diagnose that is beyond what anyone wants to do and enough to put you off. I’m really sorry you’ve had this experience
The one thing you have to worry about at least as an American is that Stratasys is sueng Bambulab which may affect availability of parts and whether Bambulab printers will be continued to be sold in the US since on of the things they are suing bambulabs over is multi-material printing and multilateral purging. So depending on how the lawsuit goes A1 may not be available in certain markets. Or at least the AMS may not be. I'm not a lawyer and I don't know all the details of the lawsuit but I would be trepidatious about buying one until the lawsuit has run it's course.
Stratasys is not doing well financially, likely one of the reasons for the lawsuit. Bambu's current market share in consumer and them eating into the pro market is the other likely reason given most newer consumer fdm printers are using the same technologies listed in the lawsuit. Bambu has completely overtaken the consumer market. Not much data for this year yet, but I'd venture to guess the revenue numbers are going to be substantially bigger than last year. ($211M USD~) I'm new to 3D printing. Picked up the A1 Mini because of the sale price and glowing reviews, loved it so much that I got an A1 combo about a month later and have been printing non-stop with no issues other than some noob mistakes. I'm usually pretty frugal, but the A1 Mini made me fall down the rabbit hole of what is looking to be a lifelong hobby pretty quickly. 😅 I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of other people that bought an A1 series this year that are in the same boat. They just do what they're supposed to do, and do it very well.
i know anycubic from their resin printers, i have a few that I like. That said i no longer buy anycubic products because they don't support their products at all. practically as soon as one product hits their on to the next "upgrade" with little to no effort thrown in.
Well, this wasn't fair for any cubic in any way. You're using the old slicer, not their new one in the review. They both use the same slicer now. Any cubic has their own version
Kobra3 is superior for me. Starting with the fact that the screen can be easily replaced if it gets damaged. If it's a software issue, that can be updated over time
@@salmanrashid6245 I have a Bambu A1 and I've printed over 200 hours and I've had literally 2 print failures, both of them my own fault. It is damn near perfect.
@@BeefIngot The Gcode output for bambu printers is Marlin. Though what their printers run is something entirely different. If they used Klipper they could use Exclude Object, the one thing those printers are missing (feature wise).
@@SirLANsalot Just about everything you are saying is wrong. Firstly, they use gcode similar to marlin for compatibility, they have custom codes for their custom firmware functions, which is basically what klipper does too... so.... Secondly, They most definitely do have exclude object as a functionality..
I have to correct you on what the A1 does when printing a new model. At least mine, and I'm assuming I'm not the only one. When finished a print the current filament is cut and retracted. So starting a new print the machine purges no matter if there is a colour change or not. I've printed 20 prints in the last 30 hours for a wall thing, all black petg from the same spool. It purges just like it would if I asked it to print a different colour when starting the next piece.
my neptune 4 not reading a simple usb stick has convinced me to go bambu on my print farm starting this fall. tinkering and mods were cool in 2019 but now i have a family n full time job; i want my printer to just print
The whole idea of printing stuff is DIY and tinkering. I don't see why there can't be both: a printer that works out of the box (soo many available, also beside Bambu) and tinkering with the printer for fun and improvement.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 i always advise ppl to start with an Ender 3 then upgrade to whatever you like. That tinkering teaches you lessons you cant learn in school
Hi Ross. Across the pond they seem to rate the Prusa’s. The Mk4s is out, how does it compare to Bambu? Can we get them in the UK? Should we? Thinking about the A1 but how important is that lack of filament drying on the A1? Currently using an Elegoo Mars 2 pro for mini’s but reckon FDM will be more convenient for scenery etc.
10:00 the funny thing is, Bambu Handy isn't a stupid name in the german language, because we call our smart phones "Handy". So even if the name Bambu Handy wasn't chosen because germans call their phones Handys, it is a very fitting name in Germany.
Love the Bambu Labs A1. My only gripe is Bambu Labs decision to not including a ethernet connection option as backup or for those that need hard line setup for PC. The camera lag is noticable without it and if your internet provider or WIFI is down, youa re left to the minimal SD content only. Reading the Bambu Labs forum there it apparently the hardwiring for it hidden within the unit, it just needs the port added and a software update to activate it. Hopefully Bambu Labs will finally make this available to customers requesting it.
Saw the Kobra 3, and this was the comparison I was looking for. Have been saving for. The A1, but this is a pretty tempting proposition. Would save about $140 with anycubic couping. Sounds like from the comments that the anycubic next slicer based on orca is improved since this video. Anycubic having the camera built in is nice. The flow sensor also seems like a really nice feature. The cable management criticism for the kobra 3 seems fair, but it really doesn't matter that much to me over how well the thing works for the cost. Anybody used both and can weigh in?
I bought K3 mainly cause it was on amazon and bambu was not tbh. Like hell im gonna be at the mercy of them if I get a shitty one. Amazon just has a very prosumer return policy and that alone was enough reason no to buy from them. The heated ACE was also nice cause I use PVA alot. Regardless it a well enough decent Printer for the price.
I’m just getting into 3-D printing using FDM printers. Having talked about the bambu printer, if Money isn’t an option, would you suggest going with some of the more expensive bambu models? Looking for detail as my top priority followed by ease of use for the second. I know they have the X1 and the X1 carbon, but are those significantly better than the A1? Again, Price isn’t much of an issue.
If price isn’t an object then you’d probably like the X1 Carbon. You have an enclosure with the AMS on top and multiple AMS capability. The AMS for this model is enclosed. I don’t know if it’s heated, but if not, you could put silica gel packs in to keep it dry. I’d have on myself but for me, price IS an object. A beginner maker can make virtually perfect prints right out of the box with pretty much any Bambu printer with adjustments needed only when using 3rd party filaments so if you are new, choose Bambu. You can discuss any printing issues on their app as well. Nothing but support from these guys.
Leaving out names. One spools are exposed to dust, moister. One spools are heated, blocked from dust. One spools "appear" to be tippable at the drop of a hat. One spools are well grounded / centered. One can be bought at nearly any place. One can be bought only from one place. Many more to go but it obvious what my decision would be.
AMS lite is in general more reliable and fits more brands of filament than the regular AMS, which is very similar to Anycubic's take on it. It's also perfectly stable. Only thing you have a point on is the heated enclosure, it would be nice if my full AMS had an integrated dryer.
@AnotherCG Sure, but you also leave out many things that matter too, related to quality of life, and polish. In a world with printer that check many boxes but are a pain to use. I think people are starting to value those a lot more than theoretical checkboxes (called theoretical due to often half working)
Hi, I’m planning buying a 3d printer but mi budget was about 200-300€ being 300 my max and I was watching Bambu Lab A1 mini, AnkermMake M5C, Anycubic kobra 3 and Elegoo Neptune 4 pro. I’m not interested on multicolor printing as i am only printing one color for my mechanisms. So with this in consideration, would you recommend me someone of these (or another) above the others? I also watched the flashforge Adventurer 5m but I saw that the 5m pro was the version to go but it is out of my budget. Thank you in advance !
From my experience with the A1's, they're excellent. I've got 30 Mini's and 5 A1's. I had Prusa minis before, and the Bambu's are pretty low maintenance and dependable. I use all petg, so it's goobery stuff and can mess with the bed leveling if a booger is stuck to the nozzle. Just make sure your first layer or two goes down properly, and it'll just about always make a good print. For the extra $ or €, definitely get the ams!
Question. After watching a couple of your comparison videos (and a couple from other channels...second opinions and all that...) it seems the only potential problem i can find with the Bambu is the lack of heating / drying of the filaments. How do you compensate for the lack of filament drying with the Bambu? Do you just make sure the room containing the printer has a humidity level that wont promote water absorption by the filaments? Anyway, you have really nicely produced and informative videos. Subscribed to keep up with new ones and watch some recent ones cheers!
Wow this video is exactly what i was searching for. I was tending for a Kobra 3 because im more than happy with my Kobra 2 pro but now im Certain the A1 is the better choice. Thank you! But one more thing that hasnt been covered in the Video. How diffrent are the Noise levels?
I have an A1 and A1 Mini, both are very quiet. The A1 is slightly louder sometimes, but seems to be mostly on startup just due to everything being bigger. (Motors, nozzle cleaner, etc) Both are in my office which I work from/attend meetings in daily with prints going.
i bought an anycubic kobra 2 neo for my first printer last month. if I didn't have such a hard time with it I may have bought the kobra 3. but i had so many mechanical failures and unhappy with firmware that I bought an A1 and have no regrets. keeping the neo because I like to tinker but I dont' like the printer at all. however, anycubic customer service is amazing.
DO NOT BUY THE KOBRA 3 combo. I’ve had nothing but problems and Ancubic customer support is a nightmare to deal with. They will try everything to keep your money and make a return as difficult as possible.
Oh yeah, I am definitely going to be disappointedly and begrudgingly unboxing my Kobra 3. 😅😅😅 Wish I had seen this video prior to my purchase! Would have been extremely helpful. Tysm!
@@joeking433 I believe so, but I'm trying my best to work with the company. Their customer support is exceptional, but the slicer is a piece of work. I haven't been able to correctly assign colors to any of my .3mf files and the only way I can even print a .3mf is to completely remove and then replace the filaments back into the ACE according to color coding in the slicer. It is insane. I refuse to have to swap my spools after ever single print, so I'm trying to figure that out now too. Other than that, Anycubic is sending my about 4 packages worth of stuff, not sure what all, to help improve the machine's performance. At this point, I almost feel like I'm in too deep to return it now, bit I do believe as good as their customer service is, they would most likely still accept it back, given the issues it's had. Hoping I won't have to do that but if so, I'm going for a Bambu I think. Not sure what to do...
From someone that started with a Kobra 3 it is dogshit don’t waste your time. Have an A1 on the way hoping to experience pain free multicolor printing.
The Elegoo multimaterial wastes less material and time than the AMS, the flow sensor on the A1 doesn't perform as good as a proper flow calibration print. Also the filament tension is lower so it doesn't brake wet filament as the AMS does. More important the Kobra dries and keeps the filament dry: you don't want to have 4 rolls of filament in open air and then having to dry them. Then there's price: the Kobra combo is 400 now.
Before I got my bamboo. 3dprinting for me and many was a "tinker-art'. Now it's more a tool...I design, and what I print works, if I designed it right.. I feel that the other companies, got a wake up call. I see new good and more stabile printers from the big suppliers. Now.. (we still get machine like the redstoem giga).so it not all roses and rainbows
the anycubic slicer is already new and based on orca . also the lights on the camera on the anycubic you can turn them on and timelapse is also from day one possible !! try to get your data correct before uploading info like this
How was any of this “day one possible” when I emailed Anycubic asking about it and they said “we are still working on these features” I appreciate it may have been like this when you hit it, but the info I presented was right at the time of recording, or I wouldn’t have said it.
@@FauxHammer I got my kobra 3 combo about 2 months ago the camera lights you can switch on with Amcap and the slicer update was about a month ago , the AI controlled print ( the camera checks the print ) is with the app possible from day 1 i got it..
The design of the AMS Lite is definitely a weak point, even though it is a useful addon, but overall the A1/A1 Mini is a REALLY hard platform to beat for entry level 3D printing. The user experience and functionality is just that good, right out of the box.
I dont get how they managed to: Not have a decent amount of print profiles in current year Not have any vents for the moisture to actually leave the heated MMU system (Seriously great idea in theory. LIke bravo for that, but did you not.... think about exhaust??) Not have linear rails (seriously, vrollers in current year are unacceptable to me at any price point now that Bambulab have proved that you can sell even a sub 200 dollar machine with them). It does seem like they cant shake that urge to technically fulfill boxes without actually getting anyone at their company to vette the features they added.

I've been printing almost non-stop with my Kobra 3 for the last month, it has a few quirks but prints like a champ once you figure out how to tame it. The built in filament dryer is also great, and it has the ability to use a second ACE to get 8 color printing.
I had some problems with it as well but only after about 70h of printing. Btw what profiles do you use to get the best quality?
How is it doing now?
@@raynlaze1339 still good. It’s my main workhorse at the moment, currently printing out a fuckload of warhammer terrain.
@@raynlaze1339 I sent mine back and bought a Bambulab
"I’m tired of having a newly released machine dumped by the company for even bug fixing shortly after launch."
One big benefit of Prusa machines for years now. Even the old MK2 and MK3 are still supportet in a way that they got updates, you get parts and the documentation is broadly available. Let alone that you could upgrade from a MK3 to a MK4 and now MK4S is just brilliant.
I wish Apple would face this kind of competition. Competition is good for Costumers!
@@limbeboy7bambulab is the Apple already in world of 3d printers😂
I sold all my other printers about 2 years ago, got the Bambu X1 and never look back.
Thanks. I may use comments like this to make my points in future
Me, too! On my Kobra 2 Pro I came back to my print to see a huge golf ball size glob of filament on the hotend and the printer was trying to drive the bed through the table, LOL! It never worked the same after that!
bambu need introduce a nozzle support carbon fiber printing....CF so abrasive for bambu nozzle
@@mankazuha It's abrasive for every nozzle, but Bambu has hardened steel ones that'll last longer than the stainless ones
kobra 3 altera o z-offset a cada impressão, isso é ridículo, não tem como manter um padrão de qualidade para a primeira camada dessa forma.
I’ve had several anycubic printers with nothing but problems before I bought a bambu. I have no regrets.
Anycubic make and made solid printers in their price range at the time.
Who has ever actually wanted to print a 256x256x256 cube though? Thats such a specific usecase.
@@BeefIngotI really want to just admire a huge 3d printed cube
Except RatRig, I don't think I'll ever go in the near future outside of Bambu ecosystem. I love the simplicity, relability and user experience Bambu gives to their customers. Great Video Ross!
Voron's were great but the cult like base that has developed keeps inventing problems to make elaborate fixes for and grift selling hardware solutions. I hardly recognise the machine nor it's community anymore.
i totally agree. I'mcoming from 3 ender 3s including a clone. P1S with AMS doesn not disappoint next uo is a A1 or a P1S without AMS.
Various type of pei, peo sheets available (I use carbon like peo for months) for few euro.
well. the password input is a little bit under engineered.... sometimes lost the network. after every fw update need to setup all again.
these days a birthday action and with a 30€ coupon just 340€. worth it...
não tem excluir peça durante impressão e o z-offset altera a cada impressão, mesa super torta
I have a few hundred hours on my kobra 3. It has been rock solid. They had issues and anycubic rushed to get hotends and beds out to people. Plus anycubic now has its own verison of orcaslicer. I think this printer is going to last. And yes I own bambu printers as well lol
Is it still rock solid after the latest firmware update?
I’ll never trust Anycubic after having a few of them. There is no reason to buy an Anycubic instead of a Bambu printer.
Thank you for this, just started looking into our first printer and the A1 has consistently been mentioned, this video does confirm this as well.
the Kobra 3 has a lot of faults, if you want to keep tinkering and replacing hot ends then fine but if you want a printer that works get an A1, I returned my Kobra 3 combo and got an A1 with AMS lite
Anycubic made a second slicer built on Orca slicer with more profiles then the standard slicer! And the prints look better from that slicer on my kobra 3. I love how easy I can use that machine. And it prints great and built solid as a battleship. And the ace unit is awesome. But great bamboo advertising.
I was legit about to comment about this myself it's called "Anycubic Slicer Next" and it works way better than the other version.
would love to see him update the video to reflect this. Still considering saving the money and getting kobra 3
Ask anyone who came from Anycubic printers and went to Bambu and you’ll understand why they never go back!

Thank you. Your video helped my weeks long debate of which to buy, and it’s the A1!

Thanks for your advice, watched all your reviews and vs videos, made my mind up and ordered a Bambu A1 combo through your affiliate link. Cheers.
You can’t trust Anycubic printers.
I just bought the Kobra 3 Combo with 8 rolls of filament and the camera for a darn good price and was able to use the $30 off coupon code, too. Anniversary Sale is great!
Same here. Nearly $200 cheaper than the A1, and you get a filament dryer? It's an awesome deal.

@r3ddevill Yeah, the current sale makes me want to get another....
Yeah, and at $250 the AMS Lite system is overpriced. I wonder if Anycubic can get their ACE system to work with Bambu printers? LOL!
Just look at the first layer pictures in this video of the kobra. They look awful, you won't have that with the bambu printer
Bambu Lab is much better over all! print quality is superb!
Research cheap drying options. I printed an enclosure for my AMS lite and it holds silica jells
If you're buying a printer for the camera quality i think you're in the wrong business
Buy the Bambu. They have good mode profits for filaments. Anycubic has generics they copy from the standards only and don't really work. You'll have to tweak and tweak. Anycubic doesn't care about tweaking profiles. One you buy it your on your own
as soon as a kobra 3 max combo comes out i will be all over it. love my kobra max (1) but my only gripe of it really is klipper.
@@brunno537 You will think you’re in heaven by switching from a Kobra to a Bambu printer!
Been waiting for this video for a while! Thank you!
I mean, when the Kobra 3 combo printed, it was amazing. fast and good quality, and the Ace pro was super good, but I didn't wanna wait for either a replacement that would or wouldn't work or exchange parts and keep swapping until it works
The P1S has been the complete opposite, just setup and it prints like a charm, no issues so far
Sounds exactly like the experience I had with the Kobra 2 Pro.
Holy crap, what perfect timing! I'm considering getting one these during their anniversary sale, but I'm hesitant. This comparison video came out at the perfect time for me! Thank you!
What did you decide?
Same here 😅
Bought a P1S a month ago coming from Voron's and home built / self designed machines..... my god, they just work.
Yea, I have such mixed feeling
The voron is beautiful, infinitely tweakable, as high spec as you want, open source hardware...
The bambu just works
Bambu just work out of the box....I hated tinkering with my Anycubic i3 mega!
Just print a respooler. Respool all your filaments unto the rfid chip one and you'll never have to calibrate your 3rd party filaments ever again
This isn't even true at volume. You can get PLA for under $10/kg shipped. Their regular price/spool is $20. That's not cheap at all. Why lie?
i also wonder about the lifetime of the kobra 3, anycubic haven't always been the best to support their machines for a long time.
where as bambulab has made promises about how long you can expect updates and part inventory.
Absolutely fair point
Thanks I was planning on buying one soon.
I'm looking at these things now and thinking ... why the hell am I still only using the Ender 3 I got 5 years ago but which has put me off from working on projects because it's so slow and prone to failures, both with the print and with the BL Touch?
given how bambu fucked over their eu customers, this is a solid video for anycubic
Anycubic Kobra 3 Combo with ACE on 3DPrima (Sweden) currently is 303 Eur. without VAT. Bambu Lab A1 Combo 463 Eur. on the same site.
What good is a Ferrari if it’s always in the garage for repairs? Go for the Bambu!
That’s exactly what a stratasys shill would say.
($211M USD~)
I'm new to 3D printing.
I'm pretty sure Anycubic is also using patents from stratasys too 😊.
So all you people out there hurry up and get your AMS before the filthy Stratasys Corporation stops your ability to buy one!
i know anycubic from their resin printers, i have a few that I like. That said i no longer buy anycubic products because they don't support their products at all. practically as soon as one product hits their on to the next "upgrade" with little to no effort thrown in.
Fair point, well made. I have seen this too!
Well, this wasn't fair for any cubic in any way. You're using the old slicer, not their new one in the review. They both use the same slicer now. Any cubic has their own version
Kobra3 is superior for me. Starting with the fact that the screen can be easily replaced if it gets damaged. If it's a software issue, that can be updated over time
Great video as always FauxHammer! Off topic but your "End Screen" on the video isn't generating (at least for me)
Thanks. Sorted now!
Kobra for sure!
Bambu is way more polished than anycubic!
@@salmanrashid6245 I have a Bambu A1 and I've printed over 200 hours and I've had literally 2 print failures, both of them my own fault. It is damn near perfect.
Orca is just king, well, king for Klipper printers (and the Bambu Marlin varient), for the older Marlin printers Cura is still the best for them.
Bambu marlin variant???? What in the universe are you talking about. Bambu printers dont use klipper or marlin.
Would love to buy the bambu but here in Canada due to shipping and taxes it is around 200$ more expensive than the anykobra soooo yea
Yeah it does as do the X and P series with AMS And I’m sure I made that same complaint on those videos too.
But the A1 purges so much less
Is the “open air” AMS lite really that big of a deal?
my neptune 4 not reading a simple usb stick has convinced me to go bambu on my print farm starting this fall. tinkering and mods were cool in 2019 but now i have a family n full time job; i want my printer to just print
I freaking love my A1, just finished printing my Lucius lasgun with it, next project is a bolter! (Both from Tamegrips)
Love tamegrips!
Anycubic slicer now in the beta is based on orca it looks like orca but blue
ahhh saw this last night, unfortunately the website link, does not provide shipping to South Africa, bummer.
any links to that robocop helmet please id love to print it ?
It was from Nekko I think
Haha. Interesting to know. In English, in some regions a “handy” is phrase for a hand-job…
My biggest problem with Bambu is they charge so much for shipping to where i live. It’s almost 50%of the price of the A1
If you live near a Microcenter, you can drive there and pick one up.
@@GROGU123 sadly I’m probably a few thousand miles from one.
That is just one of Bambu's problems.
@@AnotherCG true but that's the deal breaker for me. I'm looking at some other companies since they can be ordered off Amazon so free shipping
Buy used off of facebook marketplace.
Yep. And that’s what I wanted this video to do. Show the facts so you can decide for you!
You WILL have problems with the K3 and won’t have any with the A1. You’re pick!
Do you still have it?
What good is it to have a fast engine in a car that you can’t depend on to start?
This was very useful. Thanks
The A1 is on sale for $299 now. Some kind of Black Friday sale even though it’s not Black Friday.
Thanks a ton.
I actually printed some filament dry boxes to store in my AMS. You just pour desiccant beads in tk then and the absorb the moisture
Jolie comparatif ,merci pour cette vidéo .................
Wow this video is exactly what i was searching for. I was tending for a Kobra 3 because im more than happy with my Kobra 2 pro but now im Certain the A1 is the better choice. Thank you! But one more thing that hasnt been covered in the Video. How diffrent are the Noise levels?
Glad I could help!
I have an A1 and A1 Mini, both are very quiet. The A1 is slightly louder sometimes, but seems to be mostly on startup just due to everything being bigger. (Motors, nozzle cleaner, etc)
Both are in my office which I work from/attend meetings in daily with prints going.
Is there any FDM 3D printer capable to print reliable dental models ? (talking about quality of resolution and not about accuracy of dimensions).
but how loud is the Kobra 3 ????
so if they work together they could make the best printer ever haha
Luckily Anycubic finally made a Orca Based Slicer. I love my Kobra 3 its great, i dont have any problems with it
Great to hear!!! I’ve seen mixed results which is typical Anycubic. So I’m always happy to see when people get a good one.

i bought an anycubic kobra 2 neo for my first printer last month. if I didn't have such a hard time with it I may have bought the kobra 3. but i had so many mechanical failures and unhappy with firmware that I bought an A1 and have no regrets. keeping the neo because I like to tinker but I dont' like the printer at all. however, anycubic customer service is amazing.
Fairly put, a lot of people don’t seem to share your experience with Anycubic unfortunately
@@FauxHammer I like to tinker.

DO NOT BUY THE KOBRA 3 combo. I’ve had nothing but problems and Ancubic customer support is a nightmare to deal with. They will try everything to keep your money and make a return as difficult as possible.
I noticed the same thing when I went to return my Kobra 2 Pro. It sits in the closet.
I really don't get how people take a little bit of assembly into consideration
Oh yeah, I am definitely going to be disappointedly and begrudgingly unboxing my Kobra 3. 😅😅😅 Wish I had seen this video prior to my purchase! Would have been extremely helpful. Tysm!

@@FauxHammer setting it up tonight finally to give it a go! Thank you!
@@Berrr_Is_The_Word Enjoy!!!!
Can you return it?
Well? Is it night and day difference?
I disconnected the camera on my A1 because I didnt like how extremely wide angle the camera is.
But you can’t count on Anycubic printers like you can Bambu ones.
Oracle ha spoken. The real problem is it does not matter. Because 6 months after getting these printers, any printer really, a far better one pops up.
So True!

How was any of this “day one possible” when I emailed Anycubic asking about it and they said “we are still working on these features”
I appreciate it may have been like this when you hit it, but the info I presented was right at the time of recording, or I wouldn’t have said it.
@@FauxHammer I got my kobra 3 combo about 2 months ago the camera lights you can switch on with Amcap and the slicer update was about a month ago , the AI controlled print ( the camera checks the print ) is with the app possible from day 1 i got it..
So bambu or the other one ?
Your choice
Bambu 100%
@@seegerg228 yeah I ordered it 2 weeks ago yesterday n it came on the Tuesday
The design of the AMS Lite is definitely a weak point, even though it is a useful addon, but overall the A1/A1 Mini is a REALLY hard platform to beat for entry level 3D printing. The user experience and functionality is just that good, right out of the box.
Are you one of B2B robot army ?
@@alboroblethe what now?
I dont get how they managed to:
Not have a decent amount of print profiles in current year
Not have any vents for the moisture to actually leave the heated MMU system (Seriously great idea in theory. LIke bravo for that, but did you not.... think about exhaust??)
Not have linear rails (seriously, vrollers in current year are unacceptable to me at any price point now that Bambulab have proved that you can sell even a sub 200 dollar machine with them).
It does seem like they cant shake that urge to technically fulfill boxes without actually getting anyone at their company to vette the features they added.
That are all about making a cheaper option.
I'll be honest I want them to release the Kobra 3 max NOWWW
