bed slingers tend to be slower than core x-y due to bed movement on the y axis. if you have a larger mass or tall part accelerative forces moving your print may cause your part to detach from the bed with excessive acceleration.

This is essentially the biggest factor for me. It's going on top of a desk unit in the office and space is limited, even with a top mount AMS I am concerned about how far back the bed may sling.
Learning the ropes on an Ender 3 Neo, but defo buying a Bambu Labs soon. Was going for the A1 but now im tempted by the P1S, whats an extra few hundred ££
Thanks for the video review , i bought the A1 with out the Light AMS , but i might buy the Light AMS later , but since my first 3d printer and still waiting on delivery from Germany warehouse , kinda want to see with the tubers are saying about A1 i got recommanded A1 by my friend that have the bambu Lab X1 with AMS and what i hear so fare on the tubers channels its a great 3d printer for the price and entry to 3d printing , thats why i choose A1. how ever the delivery was delayed 2 days by the postal service , so im getting even more excited to get the printer in my home. just hope i get the mouse with it :) anyways thanks for a very nice review even thou i had bought the A1 before watching you video , i still found it very use full , so thank you so much for that. Cheers !
good video bought the A1 as my first printer and i can recommend it. I do have to say its was not perfect as i'm on my second A1 (now with ams). the first one had a terrible click noise when the bed moves really annoying and loud i think because the gear on the motor was not good. The second i got now for some days is a lot better but also has some noise problems. this one has some rattles so quality control should be better but i have to say customer support has been good so overall a W :)
I have a P1S and it's been okay but I've had bits break off in the AMS multiple times and it's a pain in the arse to remove the spools, unscrew the covers, (carefully) remove the board, and finally pull out the tube with the stuck bit and reassemble. I wish the lid had a latch and I could tilt the whole unit back and open a hatch to clear the tubes and then just put it back down again. I had a nozzle jam also, another bit of filament stuck just between the hotend and the motor and I had to take the whole thing apart to repair it.
Agree with everything you mentioned. I have an A1 and an P1S. Looking to add another printer and will go for a P1S as I want to swap out to a hardened nozzle and gears and dedicate it to engineering filaments. My opinion is the X1C is overpriced for the minimal upgrades over the P1S. I tend to control everything from BambuStudio so the touchscreen is not a big issue.
I decided to get the A1, just because the P1S was quite more expensive and i mostly print Standard Materials. A first Test with ASA went ok on it, but I have it inside a warm room with constant temp. Some things i would miss if I had the P1S, The display is really nice and you dont have to search another device. And the AMS lite is so easy to use with all of my spools, even the thicker ones,250g ones and cardboard ones. A very easy to use and comfortable printer. Will probably wait for a P2S, to get in some years once it has a better display and hopefully a wider AMS like Hydra mod. For the saved money I just got more filament and hardened Nozzles/Gear ;)
I understand that with hardened steel noozles you can add the ability to print carbon infused PLA on A1, please if you are able to confirm, Ill appreciate it!
Really appreciate your honesty! If a person was starting a 3d printing business would the ability to print ABS be a deciding factor? Would the PS1 without the AMS be a good initial choice - the AMS can always be added later. Right now it’s on sale at Micro Center for $600. Any guidance is much appreciated!
It all depends on what it is that you will be printing. ABS is stronger and has a higher heat resistance than something like PLA so if your prints don't require these traits then not using ABS probably wouldn't matter. What you will be printing also applies when considering the AMS. If you need to print in multiple colours from the start then its needed. My advice is if your budget allows, then get the AMS from the start as its also nice for backup when one roll of filament runs out and the ability to use a dedicated support material can leave a cleaner print saving you time with cleaning up parts.
There is no perfect Bambu printer at the moment. I want the touch screen from the X1 carbon and the easily interchangeable nozzles from the A1 in the P1S format. I am happy with my P1S, but I'm disappointed that I can't get those other features.
A decent middle ground is the aliexpress aftermarket hotends so you can just unscrew the nozzle and screw in a new one plus use cht nozzles for even more speed and more even surface finish.
Have you had any issues with heat creep while printing PLA in the P1S? Bambu recommends leaving the door open or the top off when printing PLA, but I'd much rather have it closed for noise and dust. Interested to know if you had any issues printing fully enclosed or if you leave the door open.
so im a newbie looking to find something i can wrap my brain around.. im a hobbyist small business and looking to make clay cutters and stuff like that.. im leaning towards A1 thank you so much for the information
Shame they haven't come out with a plug in and plug screen replacement. I'd buy a little mini screen if I were cheap and then I would buy p1s's. But without it... I'm so torn between an x1c and A1, how ridiculous is that lol
I bought the a1 mini coming from Ender 3 s1. Worlds difference. Thinking about buying another and retiring the s1 it’s just giving me adhesion fits at the end of 3 day prints and the mini takes a quarter of the timevtovprintctge same thing.
I had an issue with the z screw pulleys on the P1S. The z had about 1.5mm in slop after only a few prints. Went through the guide to repair-tighten, but it came right back. The thing is the way the parts are designed, there’s not much you can do to prevent or reinforce that setup. Now that I know how they’re attached, Im concerned about them failing again. Overall the P1S is a plastic shell that is a foundation for precision parts… not the best scenario in my opinion. I wish I’d gone with the A1 and then made my own enclosure if/when that need came up. I convinced myself that the enclosure was a factor I should consider, but I’m not so sure now that I’ve got some hours on it. If I was worried about it being disturbed, would be different
Great video. I've followed 3D printing for years, but never made the leap. Tempted to leap straight to P1S, though I do wish it had the UI of the A1. I don't plan to print different materials NOW, but for the price difference I'm considering if I ever MAY want to.
I'm loving my A1 with it's AMS Lite. I've had it for a week and it's my first printer. I've been printing with it non stop. Been using Bambu PLA with the RFID that automatically recognizes sets the filament profile attributes automatically. And it performs flow rate calibrations before each print (optional, but nice and only takes a minute) and does dynamic flowrate calibrations too I've just received my first non bambu filament, the Sunlu Silk PLA+ . I'm a little confused though how to set those filaments up for the AMS and slicer. I know i can select simply Generic PLA Silk profile, but I'm not sure how the AMS and printer will know which AMS filament spool correlates to the slicers # 1, 2, 3, 4. I think I'll need to first set those filament profiles in the Bambu Studio device tab, then I'm the prepare tab click on the filament Sync button? Did that sound correct? I'm going to try it tonight after work. My next printer may be a next gen P2 series whenever those come out, but for now I'd recommend the A1. We can find inexpensive tent enclosures on Amazon if we want to print with ABS or Nylon on the A1. A few people on the A1 discord are doing that. The bed goes up to 100c so i think Bambu kinda predicted some would try such filaments in it. Just hold your breath when opening the tent and try not to breath the noxious gasses 😂
Its quite easy to set up other filaments. For AMS, just click the + right of filament to add new ones and then just set the type for every material you want. The standard profiles work great, no comparison to my other printers, how easy it is.
I have the A1 and the camera is literally a better-than-nothing camera. Absolutely sufficient to check on the print job and nothing else. But the price to performance is absolutely unbeatable right now. The A1 is the grown up product that the X and P series should have been. Hopefully the next X and P series printer takes the lessons from the A1 and runs away
I'm seeing ABS prints off the A1 and as long as their not too big ...it's working :) as a side note you can get an enclosure for the A1 as well /w air filtration.
I would be interested to know if the closed P1S is less dangerous to health? If the P1S uses a fan to exhaust the air from the enclosure and doesn't do it through a HEPA filter, I don't think there is much point in printing in an enclosure. I mean from a health point of view. I'd have the printer in a room, so the VOC fumes problem worries me a bit. The A1 is open, so has no protection.
Great video. Thank you. My intuition tells me that they're going to upgrade the P1S shortly. Reason being is the A1 seems to have some features like the larger screen that the P1S does not. What do you think?
Must say i have only had my BL A1 for a couple of weeks but i print abs no problem at all i mainly use pla, abs, petg not a problem with any Fantastic printer i also have 3 Flashforge 5Ms and yes they are a little bit faster than the A1. Great video :)
the major thing is the A1 is going to be slower, due to the nature of a bed slinger. Its also going to take more space because, again, ITS A BED SLINGER. So it commands more space not only AS the printer but also that AMS takes even more space. The P1S/X1C are Core X/Y allowing for higher speeds, because only the print head is moving, also you can play with the settings and speed up the jerk/accel over default. Also that AMS sits on top meaning the form factor of the whole system is only as large as the case it sits in, maybe a bit extra if you print the poop bucket that goes on the side. Price, ya the A1 is great for muti color at about half the cost of the P1S. However the P1 will give you better future proofing should your printer needs change or expand (and they will).
Hi, thanks for the review. I saw a glimpse of a huge space marine on the P1S. Is it a custom print? Do you have any other videos where we can see it in all it's glory? Thanks!
Wonderful video - I’m thinking of going with the A1 as my first 3d printer. Question: is it able to print tall thin structures or would the PS1 be better suited for that? Example a long sword or a spire on a building? Thanks for any guidance. P.S. I was also thinking the A1 would be better now and then upgrade to the new forthcoming Bambu next generation printer
Thank you for the comparison I found value and subscribed. :) Urgent Question though.. How "slight" is the noise difference between the A1 and the P1S. That is actually the main thing that stops me from returning the A1 getting the P1S instead? I love the price of the A1 combo but i want table space and ability to print more materials in the future so I have 2 days to decide wether to keep the A1 or just get a p1s stand alone.
Hello! Just discovered this channel and just bought the A1 Combo, can't wait to receive it! PS: noticed you Jurassic Park poster behind you, I just release a Jurassic Park Jeep replica on cults3D a few days ago, it will be great to see it on your channel! 😄
What about very high prints on the A1? I've had plenty of problems with tall and narrow objects on my previous bed slingers, hence thinking about P1S for PETG, also had plenty of issues with material warping off the bed.
I am currently coming from an any cubic viper which is a wonderful printer for what it does and I usually only print things at 60 mm per second which is actually probably not even 60 mm per second so I'm hoping that the A1 is light years faster lol Even if it is supposedly a little bit slower than the P1S
Trust me, take the word "slower" with a grain of salt. Both printers are lightyears ahead of the 60mm/s bedslingers. I have an Elegoo Neptune 2 from several years ago and whatever that says it takes 8hrs to print, it's usually 2-3hrs on any of the Bambu printers. Probably even faster with more settings tuning. It's very very hard to go back to the slow ones, once you used one of these.
@@ferenc-x7p I appreciate the information brother! That makes me feel a whole lot better! I literally am getting the A1 combo for the price that I paid for just the any cubic viper 2 years ago lol!
Oh the A1 is absolutely a fast machine! When I say slower than the P1S, it really is only that 10-15% slower, and in the grand scheme of printing, that's not slow at all. Hopefully you enjoy your new machine!
@@GrayScalpMiniaturesThe print bed does get hot enough, the main reason they don't is that enclosing the printer also traps heat around the other electrical components like the main board and PSU, which aren't rated for running above 40-50° for extended periods of time. Also they'd rather upsell to the P1S lol
Does room temperature make a difference? I would be placing which ever i choose in a cold basement, would that affect a print and would that mean an enclosed printer be better?
I'm wavering between a P1P or an A1. I will only print in PLA. The A1 has Active Flow Rate Compensation and easy nozzle changes, but the P1P does not. What do you think?
Yeah you can't really go too far wrong with either printer. Just be aware with the A1 there is currently a potential issue with the heat bed cable to watch out for. If it's not there on your machine, then it shouldn't ever be a problem unless you cause it.
Ive read that the other types of filaments aren't recommended. Also, Bambu doesn't recommend an enclosure for the A1. Yet I'm seeing several companies selling enclosures for the A1. Is the heat and ventilation the only reason behind not using an enclosure?? I'm asking these questions on account that I have ordered an A1 combo, yet I have a good friend who is upgrading to the best bambu printer on the market. He has offered me both his enclosed printers with low hours at a very good price. The p1s seems to be pretty much the same as the A1 when it comes to the build plate
The missing screen problem on the P1S might be solved with an €55 upgrade, the Panda Touch. You can also print/configure multiple Bambu Lab printers from 1 Panda Touch screen. Could be worthwhile to take a look at.
I was looking to specifically print TPU. I know quality can vary with how soft the tpu is but is there any difference between the two in terms of quality of print?
Is there any difference in build area? I've heard that, in the case of the A1, corners of prints with a large contact area with the bed can curl up, meaning you can't really use the whole area of the bed in some cases. I'm trying to decide which one of the printers to buy, and if this issue really exists it'll be the p1s for sure🙃
I would have compared the P1P to the A1, as an enclosure just adds a whole new level of usability over open frame. The P1 series are also CoreXY and not a bed slinger, which makes a huge difference also. I'd expect a bed slinger to be slower than a CoreXY machine. A1 is definitely 1000 times better than an Ender series though. Quite honestly, like cheaper too, by the time you add all the modifcations you have to do to an Ender 3 and still not get close to the quality of Bambu Labs. These days I just want something to work out of the box.
How do you personally combat the exposed filament being affected by humidity etc on the A1 AMS lite? Like put a garbage bag with moisture absorbant bag in it over the top or something?
How is A1 behave for printing miniatures? I want to get a printer and be able to print figures without to much hassle and at the same time do not poison my kids and myself with resin…
Your "dig" on the A1 having the filament, on-top of the A1 crossbar, is unfounded, as BL already addresses this as most likely the standard (they give the STL link), and that the machine ALSO ACCOUNTS FOR VIBRATION as it CALIBRATES!
What is the clearance behind the printer on the P1S vs the A1? I have limited desk space so I'm worried about clearance for the swinging bed and cable on the A1. What would you say is the effective total depth of each printer?
I am also hearing roomers that Bambu is soon to be coming out with what im being told. A game changer. Not sure if it is true or only a rumor. Which Bambu has told me that the extra hole in the AMS is for something coming in the near future
thanks for the video, I decided to buy the A1 combo. I want to be sure that I buy every thing needed, there are many add ons. How can I avoid the robot and speak to sales. It is really irritating. is the an email or phone to sales?
What is the difference in "poop" between them both? It kills me how much "poop" the P1S puts out. Now I have seen some videos on minimalizing the "poop" but its still amazing how much filament they waste. Wish I had the $4K for the XL, but thats a dream.
Nothing wrong with the top mount ams light, P1S is 10% slower not 15 it's due to the double travel speed on the P1S compared to the A1. You day the A1 is a little bit quieter it's actually 10dbs quieter so double the noise level

How does that work with the poop chute? Do you still need space for the poop to be droppped somewhere?
@@cameralife8 You can print out a collector that won't take tons of space on the side, so not a big issue
I was there…Neo plus upgrades.
Got my P1S and never looked back. It just works
Thanks for the video review ,
i bought the A1 with out the Light AMS ,
but i might buy the Light AMS later ,
but since my first 3d printer and still waiting
on delivery from Germany warehouse ,
kinda want to see with the tubers are saying about A1
i got recommanded A1 by my friend that have the bambu Lab X1 with AMS
and what i hear so fare on the tubers channels its a great 3d printer for the price and entry
to 3d printing , thats why i choose A1.
how ever the delivery was delayed 2 days by the postal service , so im getting even more
excited to get the printer in my home.
just hope i get the mouse with it :)
anyways thanks for a very nice review even thou i had bought the A1 before watching you video ,
i still found it very use full , so thank you so much for that.
Cheers !
good video bought the A1 as my first printer and i can recommend it.
That's interesting to hear. Hopefully your second one performs better.
I’m in good position to get two Bambu’s printers X1CC is one. Now I’m unsure out of two the P1S or A1 Combo! 🧐
Great comparison to help in making a buying decision. I agree with you that you're not going to go wrong with either! -Courtney
Hope you picked the P1S!
Nice, glad you're enjoying it! I'm intrigued to see what devices they come out with next!
Look up Panda Touch screen for Bambu, it is a pretty inexpensive upgrade to the screen to bring it into modern times.
A1 for nozzle swap and screen, but a core xy is a pretty good option . A1 mini on the other hand is a great alternative but lacks support on the app!
I think for most people they use desktop slicers, but I didn’t realize that about the A1 mini
Have you had any issues with heat creep while printing PLA in the P1S? Bambu recommends leaving the door open or the top off when printing PLA, but I'd much rather have it closed for noise and dust. Interested to know if you had any issues printing fully enclosed or if you leave the door open.
Pretty much no issues. Everything just tends to print off smoothly.
@@GrayScalpMiniatures thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Can you provide the link to the houses you show in the video? That tavern one looks amazing!
so im a newbie looking to find something i can wrap my brain around.. im a hobbyist small business and looking to make clay cutters and stuff like that.. im leaning towards A1 thank you so much for the information
Shame they haven't come out with a plug in and plug screen replacement. I'd buy a little mini screen if I were cheap and then I would buy p1s's.
But without it... I'm so torn between an x1c and A1, how ridiculous is that lol
Panda screen
And it performs flow rate calibrations before each print (optional, but nice and only takes a minute) and does dynamic flowrate calibrations too
I've just received my first non bambu filament, the Sunlu Silk PLA+ .
Or you can change the filament type from the printer, and it will sync with the slicer
Thanks for the comparison! Very helpful!
This video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
One question... which nozzle were you using on the A1 to print the castle walls?
I'm using the 0.4 that came with it.
That looks amazing! Thanks so much for your reply.
I think the P1S has a carbon filter for VOCs. Side note, HEPA filters work on particulate but do not filter gases like VOCs.
Excellent review, is valuable for someone comparing machines. My “best use” case is for the more expensive one 😢 so I better get saving! 😂
Glad you liked it. I thought it would be handy for those who wanted to know some of the real world usage differences, rather than just the specs.
Suppose that I want to print a multicolor dragon, is the Bambu P1S is capable of doing that like the A1?
Biggest issue for me is for the price of the P1S combo I can get an A1 combo and most of another non-combo A1. Or nearly an A1 Mini combo.
Thank you for the video, I just got an A1. One question remains, where can I get the model of that huge space marine you had on the printer?
Say whaaaat ?! I didn’t know Phil Collins has a 3D printing YT channel 😱🤔
Great video. Thank you. My intuition tells me that they're going to upgrade the P1S shortly. Reason being is the A1 seems to have some features like the larger screen that the P1S does not. What do you think?
I could barely tell the print at 1:05 and yet I knew it was the green rangers helmet without a doubt and it looks awesome :D
Excellent review and exactly the two printers I was considering. Thank you!
That was extremely helpful - thanks!
Hi, thanks for the review. I saw a glimpse of a huge space marine on the P1S. Is it a custom print? Do you have any other videos where we can see it in all it's glory? Thanks!
Thanks for the video, very clear and easy to understand :)
I can't decide if I should send my A1 back for one of the X1/P1. Just can't come to a conclusion! Thanks for the video.
I'm almost tempted to send my A1 back and buy it again with the 80 dollars discount.
@@RogueCylon sure! I will edit a video as soon as possible.
What about very high prints on the A1? I've had plenty of problems with tall and narrow objects on my previous bed slingers, hence thinking about P1S for PETG, also had plenty of issues with material warping off the bed.
Your prints look fantastic. Are those printed with the stock 0.4 nozzle or did you swap to a 0.2 nozzle?
@@GrayScalpMiniatures thanks for the feedback! I'm looking forward to it! Awesome video too. New sub.
I was looking for this comparison! I think i’ll go with the p1s for the possibility to print ABS. I don’t usually print ABS but i would be able to
u can print abs on a bed slinger.
They don't recommend it though on the A1, I believe because the print bed doesn't get hot enough.
What is that Darth Vader Print thing that you had going in the beginning of the video? Also keep up the nice work. Love the videos!
Which one would be good for rc parts. Great vid btw
Im using A1 with abs and asa using yoopai enclosure. Its way cheaper and works better because it gets more enclosed than x1c
which enclosure exactly? =D
Does room temperature make a difference? I would be placing which ever i choose in a cold basement, would that affect a print and would that mean an enclosed printer be better?
yes if your room is really cold or fluctuates the P1S would be better
I'm wavering between a P1P or an A1. I will only print in PLA. The A1 has Active Flow Rate Compensation and easy nozzle changes, but the P1P does not. What do you think?
I got my A1 combo a week ago and my P1s yesterday :D wish i could use the AMS lite with the P1S tho. both are great printers so far
Yeah you can't really go too far wrong with either printer. Just be aware with the A1 there is currently a potential issue with the heat bed cable to watch out for. If it's not there on your machine, then it shouldn't ever be a problem unless you cause it.
thank you i have to buy for a gift THIS WAS PERFECT
Ive read that the other types of filaments aren't recommended. Also, Bambu doesn't recommend an enclosure for the A1. Yet I'm seeing several companies selling enclosures for the A1. Is the heat and ventilation the only reason behind not using an enclosure?? I'm asking these questions on account that I have ordered an A1 combo, yet I have a good friend who is upgrading to the best bambu printer on the market. He has offered me both his enclosed printers with low hours at a very good price. The p1s seems to be pretty much the same as the A1 when it comes to the build plate
If you think the a1 is a little loud try the k1 max with the door open and the top glass screem open its stupid loud 😂 i do live my a1 more though.
Very informative video. Thank you.
Where can we access the stl files of the wall you printed?
Easy pick now, A1 has been recalled for fire hazard! I did love the 4 weeks of printing with my A1. It won't be available again until May/June 2024.
How is A1 behave for printing miniatures? I want to get a printer and be able to print figures without to much hassle and at the same time do not poison my kids and myself with resin…
HI! nice quality prints! do you have any video with the print settings used?
commenting to follow up on an eventual answer. The prints look superb!
Can we get a video on the settings 😊
Your "dig" on the A1 having the filament, on-top of the A1 crossbar, is unfounded, as BL already addresses this as most likely the standard (they give the STL link), and that the machine ALSO ACCOUNTS FOR VIBRATION as it CALIBRATES!
Great review man!
Thanks for your great video! Have you tried wood filament on either one of these?
Can someone help me, what are the actual dimensions of the A1 Combo cabinet top including the moving printer bed.
Any update this review? I was curious if any of your options changed regarding these printers?
Ty this helped me quite a lot
Gret review. How are you getting such amazing finishes on those models especially the walls i cant see any layer lines!
Which Pinter is louder?
The reviewer says the A1
Superb review. Give me 14 of those.
There is a wall mount for the A1 AMS as well. But if you dont wanna drill into the wall I get it.
Yeah, but the problem is that everything is with 3D printed material and if broke wil be big big problem.
Do you think it is important to have the AMS light?
