To let all of you know this is taekwondo, but he's doing something called xma (extreme martial arts) this is when you make up your own form and choreograph it to music
@@blackie75 I agree with you, btw. nice acrobatics. "extreme martial arts" oh yeah I remember the "atitude era" inwhich everything had to be called "extreme" I prefer to call it a good marketing/propaganda. I hope it worked well.
Taekwondo, as with any very well developed martial art, takes many forms. Acrobatics and doing these seemingly crazy looking, unrealistic aerial kicks and spins really does take a lot of skill and its roots are in basics of taekwondo. If you watch traditional taekwondo its very different from taekwondo sparring in the olympics which is very different from taekwondo in demonstrations. Taekwondo also looks very different depending on the country.
this isnt taekwondo. this is tricking, an offshoot of martial arts that really came about from martial arts movies. its all about flashy moves. flashier the better. steve terada is one of the og legendery tricksters. he won all the first tricking contests.
Ok, i'm a big fan of Steve and let me set the record straight. This is the leading Extreme Martial Arts master. Which is something formed out of Caporeia, Tae Kwon do, Karate, and a lot of other martial arts. However, his particular moves are mostly advanced Tae Kwon do, so we can assume he's a taekwondo based xma stylest.
The haters can make all the silly comments they want. But if you believe this guy couldn't literally kick your ass three ways to Sunday, your kidding yourself. This man is BAD!
I know alot of people that would toast this guy in a fight... But thats no where near as cool as the stuff this guy does. Who cares if its useful in a fight. It shows amazing balance and movement. None of the top fighters I know could pull this stuff off. This is impressive. Its like watching art. Showing what the human body is really capable of.
to those of you who don't know who this guy is, he's Steve Terada, he had few minor roles in films like the guy who fell off the bike in memoirs of a geisha, and he's part of Quest Crew, champions of America's Best Dance Crew season 3, he's a beast!
Impressive, but not really Tae Kwon Do. I don't think there are even names for most of what he did. he is incredibly agile though, regardless. I think this is Steve Terada.
NUGURY Crew 너구리 크루 What? No reason to insult me, I didn't say anything. :/ Maybe I don't know all about taekwondo, and maybe you're right, but that's really no reason to insult me.
the first move is one of the easier on here lol. i really want to know how he floats so high on that snapuswipe he does later. first move is just a standing fulltwist landed into a crouch. pretty standard.
That kinda demonstrations started with introduction of Jhoon Rhee style. The main point of his style was to promote and expand his schools using the business approach, marketing in particular. Showing his students who were former acrobats, affecting people on the level of impression and fantastics. tell me if i am wrong
The flips, splits, and balance you can learn in gymnastics. The basic moves (round house kicks, jumping front kicks, etc.) you can learn from one to three months of Tae-Kwon-Do lessons... I can basically do everything that guy has done and I took Tae-Kwon-Do from Master Bostock for about two years.
Man I practiced this fighting style at the ages of 9-14. I was so freaking close from getting my first degree black belt but I had to stop because I had a heart condition. Been a few years..!
Reminds me of when Nadia comennici got the one and only 10 out of 10 at the olympics. I don't like to use the word perfect when talking about humans but this guy nailed that routine....his opening summersault was a "perfect" landing with timing accuracy and execution this guy is awesome.
He is not a TKD master but he has some serious skill This is Steve Terada an expert at "Tricking" and "Extreme Martial Arts" and a hip-hop dancer for "Quest Crew". Everything quoted above has a wiki page, so look it up.
@TheEmpoweringLife it depends. you level up (go from belt to belt) when they have testing time. during that time you can go up more than one belt at a time. the order of the belt is white belt, yellow belt, orange belt, purple belt, blue belt, green belt, brown belt, red belt, red and black belt (junior black belt), and black belt. and in the black belt you have dans which is a level of black belt. it goes from 1st dan all the way to 9th dan.
@babylemonzz Is that before or after I watch him fly over me with one of those flip kicks? My point is simply that with the speed, you can see that he is already recoiling with his hand strikes before it completely extends, which is like when you pop someone with the back of your hand on their chest. Really loud, but not a lot of power. I've been hit by a lot of people, and after awhile you get to recognize the stong ones. Looks like my prediction was right, I am pissing people off.
@GarzoBGood This just a Musical Form that can practiced by any association of TKD whether its TA, ATA, ITF, WTF, or KTA. ITF is more based around Traditional forms and practices. WTF is more so on the side of sparring and olympics.
all my comments below are not a critique of Steve Terada in any way, shape, and/or form. he's good at what he does and i have alot of respect for the effort he's put in to be able to do what he does. and i have never heard of him claiming these were practical in combat with another style. they are showkicks and the only people who believe this is practical on the street are video game shut-ins and TKD cats who havent exchanged hands with a high level practitioner in a completely different art...
What is everyone complaining about. He is doing what any good martial ***ARTIST** should do - train fitness, flexibility, combat technique, speed, accuracy, etc. I am pretty sure this is Mixed Martial Arts demonstration anyway and he does a bit of Kung Fu and Taekwondo and Gymnastics. He's fit and healthy and he is definitely Martial - he has the ability to kick ass and also live life to the fullest which is the real aim of Martial ARTS.
Wow~ is been 17 years since i was watched this video. Accidentally see this video again.
To let all of you know this is taekwondo, but he's doing something called xma (extreme martial arts) this is when you make up your own form and choreograph it to music

Impressive, but not really Tae Kwon Do. I don't think there are even names for most of what he did. he is incredibly agile though, regardless. I think this is Steve Terada.
Huh, from what I've seen here all his moves were based on actual taekwondo techniques...
NUGURY Crew 너구리 크루 What? No reason to insult me, I didn't say anything. :/
Maybe I don't know all about taekwondo, and maybe you're right, but that's really no reason to insult me.
NewSuperMadWorld I apologize if I have upset you
NUGURY Crew 너구리 크루 No problem.

the first move is one of the easier on here lol. i really want to know how he floats so high on that snapuswipe he does later.

@GarzoBGood I practice TA and ATA. Both are mixture of ITF and WTF but ATA falls more along the WTF side while TA is more on the ITF side.
DUDE THAT IS INSANE!!!!
@DjVEEMI It's used to create a pump of adrenaline sort of like 'snapping to your senses' or 'getting a rush'.
That's cool! gymnastics meets martial arts
Name of the song please...and thanks anyway
@babylemonzz
