I will always remember _Better Off Dead_ as the movie that "started" my freshman year in college during the fall of 1989. My school's student government association showed feature films once a month, and THIS was the first movie to start the school year in September. I never forgot the promotional posters of this film that were plastered all over campus.

Love this movie. Always puts me in a better mood. The scene where he jumps the station wagon into the lake and gets to school, he’s so happy and then bam, a face full of you’re not good enough for Beth gets thrown at him. His reaction is so good, It’s literally like life.

Picked a copy up from the Walmart bargain bin some years ago and I got to say this was a pretty hella funny comedy from the 80’s. Definitely couldn’t get away with a lot of the stuff in this movie, today, but man was it good af!

According to Savage Steve Holland, the director of the movie, Cusack blamed him, saying it made him look foolish, and said he would never work with him again. Yet, the next year, they both teamed up and did One Crazy Summer.

This is harmless fun in that era. The thought of a teen movie where a boy repeatedly tries to kill himself from being rejected??? Nah society isn't having that today!!

Charlie sheen should have played this role. And cusack should have played Chris Taylor in Platoon.
That’s was the worse preview for such a classic movie.
Probably must of the cast have died already for overdose or anything else.

How To Pick Up Trashy Women
Love this movie, but this trailer might explain why this movie did so terrible in the box office... it's like it was made as some 12-year-old's middle-school AV-class assignment. Just take for example how the trailer excludes basically ALL the funny lines from the movie in favor of chalk scratching on the chalkboard (jarring), spoilers for the climax (skiing on one ski), and pointless racism. Knowing this movie, I'm not even so sure this trailer represents what the movie is about. Honestly a better trailer... 1) take the scene with the paperboy initially wanting his two dollars.. "cash"... one of the funniest scenes in any movie ever.... 2) make $200million in the box office instead of $10million. Done.

The trick with trailers is that you don't want to give away too many great moments up front, but at least include enough terrific moments to compel people to go see the movie. This trailer was a disaster!
