  • Recorded on January 17, 2022 I got my John Deere X380 out to clean the driveway. I ended up having to piece two cleanings to appear as one. The first recording I couldn't hold the phone and operate the tractor, as seen in the start up when I dropped it. The first cleaning had well over one foot. Second was only a few inches.

Since I commented last, I had a snowblower installed on my X380 and it's absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing your video... from Duluth MN, Andrew.

Great video and you've shown exceptional patience answering questions and tolerating the knucklehead at the bottom of the comments section. Good advice on plow vs. blower. Plows don't work well unless there is a lot of weight to provide traction. Better to blow it once and never touch it again.

Thank you for the kind words. Responding to some does take a great deal of patience! I enjoy anytime I get to spend in the seat. The blower is a beast and I have a ball using it. However, I have it off the tractor now with my fingers crossed I won't need it until next winter. I'll see about maybe getting some grass cutting videos to see if I can find those critics! ;) Thanks again for watching. Cheers!!

Bought my x390 back in February 2023. Blows snow good.. But mine goes through belts like crazy.. From Feb to April I bet I blew out 4-5 belts.

Beautiful! Got the same tractor. That blower would be a great purchase, along with the cabin. Do the skids adjust? My gravel driveway is a pain for my current machine.

Looks like you have a little chain trouble on the right rear tire. Great job works good.

Yeah, I didn't know I was having trouble with it until I was editing the video! It's snowing very hard right now so I'll be heading out shortly to get the chain back where it needs to be and blow some snow! Stay tuned. Thanks for watching!

Do you find the snowblower clogs up at all like regular snowblowers do? Thanks

Where in the country are you located? Do you have a plow too or just the blower? I'm thinking of getting a x3 series tractor, but I have a flat 600ft driveway. Do you think this would get the job done?

Located just south of Buffalo, NY, the snow belt of America. We get lake effect snow off Lake Erie and it's brutal, a plow wouldn't cut it. I love my X380 and blower and have no doubt it would easily handle your driveway. It had tons of power and rips though anything I throw at it.

I have the same tractor 🚜 what is the snowblower attachment model number. And how much will it set me back. Trying to prep for my first Northwest Pennsylvania winter. Just relocated from Vegas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello, good choice on the X380, you'll be very happy with it. It's a 44" snowblower. Your John Deere dealer will know. I'm in NY and got mine from Land Pro. You might also have Land Pro in PA, I know they cover a few states. My recommendation for add-ons, tire chains are a must, you won't go though even a couple inches of snow w/out them. The other thing are suitcase weights for the back. I have two now and will be buying two more. My last suggestion is to spend some money on really good winter clothes, you'll need them. I've been on my tractor when it's -10 degrees, it can be brutal. Hope this helps thanks for watching.

I have an x300 and I’m considering getting a snow blower for that to clear snow. Do you know what model number the snow blower is so I can search for one? Thanks

Great video and replies. I have an X380 and was debating between a blade or blower. I live in Duluth MN so we get 1" - 24"... what's the most it could through for both plow and blower?

    • @Don55443

Hello! The X380 is a great machine with plenty of power. Though It does have some limitations when it comes to snow. I'm about 30 minutes south of Buffalo, NY and we get hammered with several feet of snow. Getting a snowblower was the only way to go for me. After considerable time spent in the seat moving snow around, I don't believe the tractor has what it takes to push though any deep snow with the blade. The engine has the power but traction is its largest opponent. A couple things to consider: Is the snow light and fluffy or heavy and wet? Is your driveway flat or on a hill? My driveway, in the video, is on an ever so slight up hill climb to the road, so minor it can't be seen in the video. Even with that slight incline the tractor has a hard time getting traction to push through, that's why I have to make a cut to the road and work back to the house so I'm working on the downgrade. Another thing to consider with a blade is each time you want to push the snow in a different direction, left, right, center, you'll have to get off the tractor, pull a pin and manually adjust the blade. Everything is done from the seat with the snowblower I vote you go with the blower. Regardless the direction you decide to go, be sure to get chains and weights, dress warm and have fun!! I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

@@Don55443 thanks Don!! I should have said, we get 1" - 24" in one snowfall, but annually we get at least 81". I think a snowblower is warranted at this point.

Why do you blow snow on what you just cleared ?

    • @Don55443
      @Don55443  2 года назад +5

There is only one side of the driveway that I'm able to put the snow. The driveway has a little bit of an uphill climb going from the garage to the road making it just enough to make it a challenge. I work from the road to the garage so the tractor is doing the work on the down hill move. Because of this, I'm forced to blow snow over the path I needed to cut to get myself to the road. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching

I wouldn't call that deep snow at all. I'd love to see one of these videos with snow that is really deep (like a foot or more) and the end of the driveway with at least double that from the road being plowed. That's a little snow where I live and doing it before the snow plow has been around is totally unrealistic.
