A good theme does that. The instant you hear it, you go right back to that time you first heard it, and then all the time you spent playing the game it's from. The thing with this one is that a GENERATION remembers, even two decades on.

i miss that part a lot in the newer games. i think the music is a big part of games, and original pokemon games have the best music in pokemon universe.
This theme is so catchy and iconic that it has me, a person born in 2005,way after these games, that has spent their early childhood without any consoles or videogames whatsoever ( thanks mom and dad) mostly experiencing games through RUclips videos, humming this theme in the shower and being able to recall it and recognise it anywhere after hearing it like once. That's how damn catchy the music of these games is, many people recognise it because it's their childhood, but even after hearing it once it was already engraved in my memory, same thing for the theme that plays when you encounter trainers or lavender town theme.
It's been a while but you could play the game on an emulator. It's not the best game in terms of quality of life (the inventory being too small, for example) but it's still great.
Y’know what the best part about this title screen is? Okay, so when the Pokémon on screen changes, if you press start, that Pokémon’s cry will play. If Snorlax shows up, it’ll be Snorlax’s cry, or Mankey’s, or Nidoran’s. And that’s a really cool detail they didn’t have to include but I’m grateful that they did.

that's how it all started...my first edition was Blue. I'm 33 now and have played all editions except Alola. This intro reminds me of so many beautiful moments.
