Another good development: the filthy, polluting city buses are replaced by modern, clean ones. They are not electric buses like in Guayaquil, but they are a huge improvement.

yes, Cuenca really needed this new zippy transport, talking about the Tranvia.

Goodness, Frank. I don't get it. Do people really uproot and take on a new country and culture to ride around go shopping? And hang out in a rented managed apartment complex, wall to wall with neighbors and likely gringos at that? Where you can't grow anything of your own and have to accept their pesticide plans? Yuck! I'd love to move to Ecuador for many reasons, not one of which coincidences with your top three offerings here. Mine:
    - la clima: no heat and no ac, no winter blues, no winter wardrobe, no freezing to death.
    - la gente: people who are warm, respectful, understanding, appreciative, inviting, compassionate, etc. And to get away from gringos.
    - la comida: lots of good healthy food to be had, looking in the right places.
    - el paisaje: nothing like the costa-sierra-oriente there. So much to check out and be blown away by.
    - otra lengua: such a rewarding challenge to seek mastery to be understand and be understood on a wide range of discussion topics in a beautiful second language.
And then there's several reasons *not* to move there right now:
    - kids
    - grandkids
I've been fantasizing for years about moving there. Though if we never get to move there, even if just for snowbirding, we can still visit and enjoy. Viva Ecuador!

Yes, all very good reasons which we have already talked about before in numerous videos. And our main reason for moving to Cuenca was because of the family-oriented lifestyle and the cleaner food.... However, the clima in Cuenca is cold in the months of July, August and September and you will need some kind of heat unless you're an Eskimo. lol...thanks for commenting.

Many expats find the 24/7 managed apartment complexes ideal while others prefer a house in the country. Some people want to move somewhere where they know they can get things they need, while other people, shopping isn't an issue. Everyone has different needs and wants and we need to respect that...because in the end, it's only better for the person experiencing it. Thanks for your thoughts.

Be aware that it is 'el clima' and not 'la clima'. Most words ending on -ma are masculine.

You people are real sharp, balanced views & stuff my kind of peoplenot to brag tho laugh out loud!!!!! about situations down there I had brought up myself too cuz it's not only not what people stereotype here although there's major problems sure, if you add them up theres enough to keep me from moving there I can tell you. I have been enjoying Trent & Allis Adventures down there they're in Ecuador too. I like to think there's got to be some way to keep those bugs & insects OUT!

Thanks so much for your kind words. Cuenca Ecuador does not have insects and bugs like the coastal areas and the Amazon do except for the few tarantulas. lol. Salinas does have mosquitoes but they get worse the further north you go on the coast.
