    I love gouache right now, especially for landscapes. I have Shinhan and Winsor and Newton. I have recently let my goache dry out so I can stop babysitting it and keeping it moist.

    I personally added a bit of glycering to my fresh gouache when I poured them into my palette (Holbein's gouache). And mixed thoroughly obviously. Definitely helped with the rewettting and to prevent cracking.
    I spray with water a few minutes before using the palette and the colours are easy to pick up and creamy !

    😂 “Myosotis...sounds like some sort of inflammation. “
    So funny. 😉 It’s actually a pretty little blue flower.
    I adore your frankness, honest opinions, and straightforward ways. Oh...AND YOUR ART, for sure! ✨💜🌸💙🌿✨

    As always, I adore your color choices. I bought a set of Holbein and ordered some more colors. I put them in a plastic palette that was supposed to be airtight but my gouache dried out. I threw them out. I will switch to just squeezing them out if I can remember to get them out of my stash 😂. Great video as usual 👍

Mixing it with moss green lights up the freaking world.🎉 Gouache could be good solution for that POW we want with watercolor. 🤔 I think you said that?

    For gouache that I keep dried in a palette, I prefer Royal Talens and Mijello Mission White (which is semi-opaque but is easily made opaque by mixing in a bit of their white gouache). I keep a tube of M. Graham white gouache with the palette as it has the smoothest consistency of any gouache I've ever tried. I use Mijello's double decker palette.
    When I use gouache fresh from the tube, I use mostly Royal Talens and Holbein (and always M Graham titanium white).

    Thanks for sharing - loved this and I’ve made a list of colours to get. What paper / sketchbook have you done the swatches on? I love the way it takes the paint. Would be great to see some videos of how you use gouache

      A process video will be up in the coming weeks 😊 I use a Stalogy notebook, it's not a sketchbook but I just love the paper for playing around with paint.

    I started casually trying gouache with the Holbein primary set a couple years ago and earlier this year finally bought some Schmincke and Daniel Smith. Love the formulations of both of those brands. My palette is fairly small and has mostly standard mixing colors for right now, but a couple favorites are Sch. Delft Blue, Sch. Carmine, Sch. Titanium Gold Ochre (seems similar to Naples), Sch. English Red, and DS Hansa Yellow Deep. I also love DS Wistera, but haven't found a lot of ways to use it yet.

    I like that set up and will definitely try it! I am using the same "airtight" palette and I'm putting my favorite colors, watercolor and gouache and I like that set up. It forces me to combine colors more and I like to use both on the same painting.

      Thanks Renee! I was thinking of adding some gouache to my watercolor palette but maybe I should add some watercolors to the gouache palette instead!

    I use M. Graham gouache, and I tried using a palette but found it too much to keep up with, so I switched to just using it out of the tube when painting.

      I think that works for most gouache artists, it definitely fits the medium itself!

    Do you ever mix your watercolor with gouache paints to get "new goauche" colors? I remember in the beginning, when I had more watercolors (too many of them) and fewer gouache colors, I sometimes mixed my watecolor with white or colored gouache, or layer watercolor on top of the gouache painting to modify the gouache color 😄

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  4 месяца назад

      Absolutely! In fact, was just doing that yesterday! Love to mix gouache and watercolors! What's your favorite mix?

      @@iritlandgraf I love mixing most colors with white gouache because they look so pretty and sweet 😄 or I mix colors with prussian blue or indigo to make them darker.

    • @iritlandgraf
      @iritlandgraf  4 месяца назад

      yes! Sounds great! I use a lot of white these days, which I never did in my first years painting with watercolors. Love the idea of using prussian blue or indigo! I use them often with acrylics but haven't in watercolor/gouache for a long time. Thanks for sharing!

      You’re welcome 😊 I would say my biggest tips are to use less water and a flat brush . As for the paint itself, either freshly squeezed or very moistened. Have fun!
