I was disappointed in the Nat Geo app. I was super excited when I saw it. It has very little content. Great video.

Thank you for your comment and for watching. Yes same was very surprised, I just downloaded their new app for Quest, and it seems they are doing some educational content with pilots in schools, so at least we know they seem serious about a future in VR. Are there any other apps or accessories you would like me to review?

I agre with many of your comments however a lot of these platforms are user generated content on consumer grade cameras without the resolution to be truly sharp. Also a lot of people don't know how to film in 360 or 180 as it's a whole different technique to standard filming. I am just starting on 360 and 180 content and have to admit my first few are unwatchable.

Rob Sidebottom thank you for watching.
VR360 indeed can be tricky, I did some Documentaries with my LG360 a couple years back (link below) - when the light was brighter, it was still able to pull out some decent footage out of it, despite being 2016/2017. The trick is not to move the camera super fast, be in low light, nor have objects too close to the lense - consumer VR360 cameras generally perform best outdoors day time. The Insta 360 One X, should be able to give something relatively decent right out the box - Samsung not so much. But the other issue is also the technology used by the distribution platforms, RUclipsVR did a great job as well as Veer on the Oculus Go deploying the best compression technology to date - you can also sharpen the footage in post if feels a little blurry. So its advised to be careful which platform to use when publishing the content. No matter the grade of the Camera, Facebook VR won't give you any decent quality- as for Nat Geo, Discovery and CNN, I think they used their own gear (or commissioned content creators) - to do the shoot - most probably years ago - so they just need to refresh the content and ensure the compression tech they use is up to par, its good brands should be aware of this as well if they are looking to develop their own app to publish VR360 content.

Thanks for watching and your comment. VIP Gala video coming up in few days, but they have more vr360 videos though and have been raising the bar for distributing vr content.

@@xressentialsHi, "Gala VIP" has only 3D180 videos.. There's other Gala apps, eg. Gala360, Gala Relax... but I'm not talking about them. I reccommend Gala VIP

@@underbelly69 you are completely right, just went back into the app after a break of a couple months, they have actually made updates. Two noticeable ones, first they removed their vr360 content, as lots of stuff I used to watch isn't there anymore. Second they updated the intro screen when the app loads, now you can press a button and skip the loading screen, I wasn't able do that last time. They added "Beta" to the app name also on loading.....never mind will place that in the pinned comments when the video is out as I already had scheduled it for release...I still however feel that with technology available today, its enough to get decent quality content out of such cameras, for me 180 content doesn't feel complete, but I hear what you say, and it is true there are powerful 180 cameras that offer good quality and 3D effects too.
