Micheal was @ the top of his game with this one, still is a rump shaker even in this era, a bass prodigy who played for Miles Davis live lp in Japan called Agharta powerful bass lines while playing for the Father of Jazz Fusion🎷😎✅💪🏾💯
dam all the women are fine as wine, some of the best hip swinging, high kicking dance moves u will ever see. it was better when the men and women came down the line together.
Man those were the days. I was just a kid but I loved watching Soul Train every Saturday morning. I thank God for a awesome mom and people who strived to promote GOOD and decency for others especially kids. Unfortunately that concept is getting smaller and smaller, just look at what's on TV today.
cuz we ate REAL FOOD... these kids are eating fake foods, fillers, hormones, gmo's etc. Plus we were more creative and active. These kids are allowed to lay on their computers, etc. We were told to go outside and play!!
@@endlesssummer4977 they cut budgets for funding the arts and reduced recreational time in public schools. It all part of plan to make government less accountable to average citizen and to be more accountable to the wealthy and powerful.
@@endlesssummer4977 Naw, we were eating the same junk back then; it's just that we didn't have computers and had to get up to change the channel. We had to walk to do things.
USED TO WEAR THIS CASSETTE OUT!!! WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS OF THAT YEAR, EARLY 1980. THEY DEFINITELY DO NOT MAKE GOOD MUSIC LIKE THIS. . . .. WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!? DISCO AL
To those in this forum who think the brothers are gay in this video: I am from that era and to be honest most men back then danced! The idea that the only men who could dance had to be gay is relatively recent. People thought Rick James AND Prince were gay and they got more ass than a rectal exam. Of course some of these cats may be gay, but I doubt many were.
Thromone Smith lol you don’t know what you’re talking about. They can’t be dancing gay if this style of dance was the norm, if anything the gays were dancing straight.
I just love how they would do those high kick. Love it then and sure love to watch them now. I could never get those kicks. They made it look so easy and effortless. Guess I was not tall enough.
I hate song cut before guy did Bomb Phillips part! I loved them Oilers! But Loved Franco Harris more. Young girls crush! 🤭. Those were the good old days! Can't bring them back! ✌️
Work it brothers and sisters, ilove my brothers and sisters, they got funky, off that one, I got funky with them, my husband Tyrone Sims and I broke it down, hit me with the wide, reciever
I guess back in the day I didn't really know what being a fabulous male was all about. these guys are "fabu".. I do know that alot of them were "modern dancers" i.e a jazzier form of ballet dancers. they really knew how to move.
I've watched Soul Train since I was a kid but I have to say some of those guys that be on there need to go over to the women's side. I mean real men don't go around kicking there leg up in the air like that joker at the 1:33 mark no doubt there some sugar in that tank...smh
You can clearly see that there weren't a men or woman individual line by that time 1980. That didn't happen until around 1981. But who's to say some of those "real men" who didn't do the leg work didn't have "sugar in their tank?"
You know I thought I was I THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT WHILE WATCHING SOUL TRAIN. PLZ don't get me wrong I love it wishes I could've had the chance to go on there but the men kicked their legs and shook their butts more than me and they were on beat. Hmm, I saw some fine men too. I was praying for those who had those tight pants on kicking and squatting that they didn't get embarrassed on national tv.
@rpgfan72 That's what I thought too when I look at it now. I can see this now, but back then I couldn't. But it makes total sense; gay black men can dance their butts off. I love it!
SPIRIT 13 Hi, I was 👀 watching this video, and saw your comment & I wanted to share this video that I had seen regarding the "Fierce 💃 Dancer"! (Damita jo Freeman)! As follows: ruclips.net/video/EKObcijko_A/видео.html Entitled: Soul Train Dancer tells her story "Damita jo Freeman" Receives an Appreciation award

Everyone was slim and trim back then. It's too bad so much of us has let ourselves go, especially the young generation.
Use to wear this song out.
cuz we ate REAL FOOD... these kids are eating fake foods, fillers, hormones, gmo's etc. Plus we were more creative and active. These kids are allowed to lay on their computers, etc. We were told to go outside and play!!
Slim and trim is good .

Wonder if they are watching themselves dancing when they were young..
thats a good jam
I wish I could live in this era. Black folks were so close and united. Nothing but love
things were going pretty well up until the mid to /late 80s when crack pushed thru. it's been downhill ever since.
I love that jam!
Rare funk song. Early 80s with a lot waacking dance moves.
That's my favorite Soul Train set
LOL zappwatt!! I feel like kickin right now. I can't sit still.
I had a few favorites. Cindy was one of them with her crazy long hair.

The earlier Soul Train dancers of the 1970s are in their 60s now. Like Jeffrey Daniel and Jody Watley.

Plus, the more extra you were, the more screen time you got!
Agreed!
I don’t think they were gay, but they sure as hell danced GAY........
Thromone Smith lol you don’t know what you’re talking about. They can’t be dancing gay if this style of dance was the norm, if anything the gays were dancing straight.
kidcat3000 and how are you gonna tell me about how I think they LOOK? It’s called a damn opinion.
"Yoo hoo, any of you fellas need a tight end?" Amazing they allowed this on television given the double entrendres.
I just love how they would do those high kick. Love it then and sure love to watch them now. I could never get those kicks. They made it look so easy and effortless. Guess I was not tall enough.
Loved this show every Saturday before I became a Sabbath keeper
The end couple killed it

REAL MEN don't check for other men kicking their leg up!
You know I thought I was I THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS THINKING ABOUT THAT WHILE WATCHING SOUL TRAIN.
