  • Peter Ouko spent 18 years in Kamiti Prison in Kenya, sometimes locked up in a cell with 13 other grown men for 23 and a half hours a day. In a moving talk, he tells the story of how he was freed -- and his current mission with the African Prisons Project: to set up the first law school behind bars and empower people in prison to drive positive change.

This man earned his law degree behind bars and here is I.., even after being blessed abundantly am not able to finish my management degree. But now I must say that I can't find excuses because if this great man can do it then it's my duty to finish mine and help others

I'll be brief I hope you keep it in your heart. I've been 16 years without completing my last year of high school here in Brazil. I left out these negative words and in 2013 I did a Federal test to which besides obtaining my certificate this same test granted me a full management scholarship. I am now in the last semester of the course. And I'm starting a master's degree. Never give up your dreams. With God everything is possible.

Peter Ouko, so proud of you! I first watched the clip while you were in prison. I saw a comment that you are free. Then I stumbled on this. Super proud of you. Your poise, confidence, drive....you are remarkable! Truly - the human spirit is unbreakable.

It's unbelievable what a person is able to cope with. You always think "No, I can't take this, this is way to much for me to deal with." But the end, you HAVE to go through it AND you'll make it.

The death penalty contradicts the 8th amendment (no cruel and unusual punishments). It shouldn't be legal.

One could argue that life in a 6x8 box is more cruel than being painlessly put to death. I know I'd probably off myself if I was sentenced to life without parole.
