  • In this latest chapter of the "Expanding the Lake" series, I use my Greenworks 40V chainsaw and my Kubota L3901 to take down two trees that must go so I can continue expanding the "lake". Things end up getting pretty tricky along the way.

    That little battery powered chain saw is an awesome little tool. I never would have thought it would cut like that. I give it
    👍👍 😁

      I wouldn’t have either. I was very skeptical of battery powered chainsaws, but this thing changed my mind. It’s amazing! Thanks for watching!

    Your overdub on these videos give me a very Bob Ross Joy of Tractors vibe and the way you fast-forward the backhoe reminds me of old Ray Harryhausen movie! Very entertaining. Thanks.

      LOL! You are the third person to make that comparison with Bob Ross and I consider it quite the compliment. Thanks for watching!

    Loved the BH action, Martin. Funny when you cut the 1st tree and then put the wedge in and gave it a tap-tap....then another tap-tap. I've had these dang loblolly pines inter-connect at the top and then entwined in vines. What a hassle they would be. Enjoyed a full-watch and sorry you weren't able to get to that 2nd tree. Your pond will be a nice size once you clear the tree roots. Have a fine week.

      Glad you enjoyed it, Don! Yes, I was really puzzled because I couldn’t see how the were tangled but I’m pretty sure it was the vines. The next part will be released in a day or so and you’ll find out how I got the other stump out. Hope you have a great week too.

    Felling both those at the same time was a pucker moment! LOL The thumb helps a lot with stumps. The first stump wasn't to bad but that second one, is going to take a little work. lol Enjoyed watching Martin! I really like all the camera angles! Have a good weekend!

      Hi John! Yes it was! The thumb is awesome, but you know that because you have one too. The second one did take a good bit more work, as you’ll see in the next video in this series. Thanks for watching!

    Grape vines and poison ivy vines will definitely bind the trees together. Sometimes you just have to fall them together like you did. I enjoy your videos. I built a carryall from your plans with a few tweaks to suit my needs, for my '52 Ford 8N.

      Thanks for watching, Mike! Glad you like my videos and that you built a version of my carryall! If you’d like to share some pictures of your carryall, please send them to martin@diymyway.net. BTW, that ‘52 8N is a classic work horse! Hold on to it!

      DIY My Way I will Martin, both hold on to the 8N and eventually get you some pictures of the carryall on it. My dad lives just up the road about 3 miles and has a 2N, a 960, and a 5000 with a loader, which I borrow when needed. He also has a beautiful 1950 F100 pickup in the Ford red and gray colors. I use my 8N for mowing, brush hogging, grading, and snow plowing. The carryall allows me to use the tractor for other jobs around the property as well. What I really like about your design are the hinged sides and the hitch receiver. It is really the best overall design out there. I added a 5/4 board on each side behind the backboard allowing space for my quick hitch top link hook to fit. I also relocated the lower link pins on the carryall frame to the right distance for my quick hitch.

      Sounds like you have a good setup, Mike. I like your idea for adapting it to fit your quick hitch. Looking forward to seeing pictures of it.

    Those trees went down like one! That is curious the larger tree survived with so much dirt over its roots. What is the lifting capacity of that backhoe, it seems to be quite strong! The thumb should almost be standard equipment. I appreciate your bonus at 7:08. I wish you much more bonus! Thanks for sharing Martin!

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  5 лет назад

      Yes, some trees can tolerate it and others can’t. They don’t specify lifting capacity. They specify digging force. The arm cylinders are rated for 2190 lbs and the bucket cylinder is rated for 3421 lbs of digging force. Anyway, it’s pretty strong! LOL I appreciated the bonus too! Thanks for watching!

      Be careful pushing sideways. Excavator is not designed for it and can fold and/or pop a cylinder. Also you gotta know I'm going to say grapple again. 😜
      Pick up logs and carry away or hold them up and cut to size.

      Right you are, Maxwell. Several subscribers have mentioned that, but it’s not a priority for me since I can carry more logs on my forks than in a grapple. Thanks for watching!

    Great job Martin. Can you put a grapple on your tractor?

    • @DIYMyWay
      @DIYMyWay  5 лет назад

      I certainly can, Tommy. But it wouldn’t be very useful unless I added a third function valve kit first. I might do that one day, but not today. Tomorrow’s not looking good either. Thanks for watching!

      @tommyordoyne7461 5 лет назад

      @@DIYMyWay Martin. Thanks. That's what I was really wondering, if there was a 3rd function valve for the front of that particular tractor.
