I think the rich are more concerned about the fact that in South African tax tables they can have up to half their entire income taken from them as tax. They wouldn't care what is being done with tax money if they didn't have half their bank balance grabbed by the state.

I left SA in March 2024 for New Zealand. I was paying R500 000 in tax a year. I got absolutely no value for that money or any value since I started paying tax in 2009. Now I pay less tax and finally see something for the money I earn. A tax system should benifit everyone. That way it encourages everyone to contribute.

The South African government's arrogance and decision to implement an expatriate tax demonstrates poor foresight and economic understanding. This policy has forced many South African citizens living abroad, including myself, to formally terminate their tax residency and relocate their assets overseas. Where I once regularly invested millions back into South Africa, I've now ceased all financial contributions. This shortsighted tax policy has resulted in significant capital flight, depriving the country of valuable foreign investment and economic growth opportunities. The government's attempt to generate additional tax revenue has ironically led to a substantial loss of foreign capital inflow.

My son lives a better life overseas, as he was told he cannot get work here as he was to white and male. He has a degree and would be an asset to his mother country. But again he is to white and male. Until we overcome racial prejudice we will not develop as a nation. This guest is clueless. SA applies the source-based system. Meaning, so long you are a resident you’ll be taxed on your worldwide income. Annually there’s a residents test and if you fail it then you are no longer a resident therefore you can’t be taxed on your worldwide income. They must get competent people as guests on these news rooms

Government has the capacity to reduce the security and stability issues as well. Remember, most of the people moving abroad are over 35s who are fathers and mothers too, so this impacts on future population growth.

I am in Europe and would love to come back but the issue of D&I prevents this as jobs are next to impossible to be if you are not black african or white Female. Prior to leaving, the culture was you are stuck in a position until you leave, its the same now in sour africa if not worse. Its so sad that i grew up and studied in south africa and am not able to contribute tongue economy and yet i am doing so in europe with them never investing my education. Racial policies in the work place was taken too far witht the backdrop of government requirements. Big Corporates are part of the blame here
