At the risk of sounding like "actually Jingles", there's a few things I think need a bit of clarification in regards to why the Badger has a bit of a polarizing reputation depending on who's playing it. A lot of people consider it a downgrade to the Tortoise, especially tier for tier. The main problem with the Badger lies in its armor profile, which is simultaneously ridiculously good and ridiculously bad. On a ridgeline, where it gets to use its gun depression and hide its only real main weakspot, the lower plate, the Badger is virtually unkillable. The only things you'll need to watch out for are Tier 10 tds firing gold, and artillery. But that is its main problem, this only works on a ridgeline On flat ground, if it's unable to hide the lower plate, it's extremely vulnerable. The gun arc is good, but not enough to be able to angle the tank well enough to hide the lower plate and return fire. Angling the side at a 45 degree angle is a horrible idea, because people won't shoot at the upper parts of the side armor, rather they'll shoot at the front drive wheel, both tracking you and dealing damage. Compared to the Tortoise, which has a noticeably wider gun arc(which means you can angle the armor better), and the only weakspot being the cupola, the Badger is basically a completely different playstyle to the tortoise. The Badger excels on a defensive playstyle, taking a ridgeline and holding it with its extremely good damage output. But it's not the rolling traumatic event that is the Tortoise, a tank that is far more capable for an assault. The Badger's not a bad tank by any means, but it's a completely different beast to the Tortoise, and can feel like a downgrade especially in regards to overall playstyle..
The tortoise also has better match making given you're often not in tier 10 gold fests and the gun's faster RoF makes is easier to perma track people for the 15-20 secs it takes to kill them.
I tried to love this tank but it just sucks in this meta. The maps encourage close up battles, not open areas. Arty has basically been removed but it used to be a major problem. The gold ammo is the major killer; the badger's gold ammo pen still sucks for killing the other armor bricks, and most everybody else gets 340mm+ pen on their gold ammo. The whole front of the tank is easily penned by other tanks gold ammo. Once you're targeted, the badger is too slow to run away.
@@stevethegeck0 Imo only in appearance, not role. The Toroise is a Frontline-Machine, that can lead the Attack or Support the Defence. The Deathstar is the same, although it approaches these roles from a completely differen angle. The Badger (mainly due to it's armor-layout and gunarc, but also due to it not beeing extreme enough in either RoF to guarantee a Perma-Track or Alpha for the Fearfactor) is more a Mainline-Defense, that can support some attacks (depending on MM and Map), making it quite different even though in both Optics and Stats it's closer to the Tortoise. Could be wrong, ofc, i've only ever played against all 3 Tanks, so far haven't owned any of them (an won't ever with the Deathstar, sadly).
@@astrofan8775 the Deathstar would be more appropriate after a tank line more similar to the T95, rather than a line whose whole gimmick is armor and RoF. The Deathstar had workable armor but really is about the big gun, which is completely contrary to the rest of the line leading up to it. The Badger fits it perfectly, and being able to work around armor weaknesses is something that should be learned at the AT-15 and Tortoise, with the huge MG ports on the tops of the tanks.
@@stevethegeck0 Problem is the Badger's weakspot is not one that you can cover by angling, which is why it plays so different, it has a lower plate, which you can only cover up on hills or in some specific areas of maps, making you more stationary in effect than the Tortoise or AT-15, as these ones can just angle around a corner or from behind an ally to cover most, if not all of their weakspots, making them much more flexible on the attack (unless against Gold, ofc, but almost no armor really helps against that at higher tiers). But i do get you, it's just that i'm not scared of the Badger, as i know he can't perma-track me, and doesn't have the scary alpha, where as the Tortoise is scary for me, because once caught i'm dead (if my Rep-Kit is on CD, otherwise the Badger is scarier due to the higher Alpha). As for the Badgers armour - I'm pretty sure one of the major issues pointed out when it was first introduced was lower front plate - it is quite a huge hunk of metal with "only" ~238mm effective. This is NOT bad, but consider it is bound to be compared to Tortoise. Suddenly the armour on Badger doesn't look that hot - sure, superstructure is great, but the lower front plate presents an annoying and easy to hit weakspot. Tortroise is more consistent in armour layout from the front. The major complaint was - Badger is hardly an improvement over Tortoise - it is more mobile, arguably weaker armoured, but gets worse MM spread at Tier10, while having only marginally better DPM and far worse gun angles.
Actually Jingles, that’s not a lemming train. GTA V has taught us that trains keep moving forward no matter what. This is more like a Boyscout Camping Trip.
Jingles seems to left out a bit. Badger players were coming from the tortoise, which had a different armor profile and got a super heavy spall liner, while the badger could only get a heavy spall liner. Recent changes have negated the spall liner difference but at the time it was added to the tech tree, that was an important difference for a tank that was guaranteed to draw major arty fire. It also didn't help that the Badger relied on "effective" armor rating that went out the window when your enemy got any kind of height advantage. So there were a few more reasons it was not well received.
You can technically understand what shot at you from the caliber, angle and penetration, and a good tanker might know this. So I guess that's Wargamings' reasoning. But it definitely is an Arcade-y information.
7:07 It's not just that no 123mm gun was ever fielded by the British Army. I'm pretty sure that no gun of that particular caliber has ever been fielded by *anyone* anywhere on Earth.

I saw some people sneered at Taugrim, the most well-known unicum player who never fire a single gold round in his career, as dumb to never have any gold round in his loadout. Saying that his average damage per game is only at the bare minimum unicum criteria on WN. Completely ignoring that his win rate is still sky high without any gold round or big damage number. Yeah, the game has changed.
as somebody who tried to three mark the grille 15, i can confidently say that 270-280 pen on t10 tds is not nearly enough, the amount of times that thing bounces is a miracle, and the second-best accuracy in the game means nothing because its a german gun so it hit outside the aiming circle half of the time, and the heat just gets eaten up by spaced armor as intended, apcr would make a far better gold ammo for it.
It has occurred to me, that in many great battles, the star of the show more often than not just moves 50-150 meters from the spawn and doesnt really move around that much... Interesting..

Removing the fun and skill needed to play.
Actually Jingles, we have all the time in the world, cause we can pause the video to do the search! :P
used to love runnin my T-50-2 through the magic forest. Good times
Just to come back and say actually Jingles!?! Why thats a preposterous accusation Lord Jingles! We're just your ever so loyal Salt Miners answering the call for Salt, Crown & Country!
All the other team had to do was push into the last 3 tanks together
Yeah, can't tell you how many matches I lose due to my tier 10 allies all camping an open cap while being destroyed by 1-2 medium tanks or light tanks. Never understood why people spend way too much money to free exp their way up from nothing to tier 10 and then convince the entire team that 1 or 2 individuals cost them the game. So naturally everyone reports whatever person because this 40 battle tier 10 30%er said so 😂
I can't help but imagine how technical and skill-oriented a game World of Tanks could be at any tier, if only gold ammo didn't exist.
But it's a free to play game. Have to have *some* way to pay to win, right?
IS-3 II hits the badger in the Butt. Jingles: Took another hit from that M46.
I really do enjoy watching your uploads, cheers 👍
"Sir, we're surrounded." "No Corporal, we're in a Target Rich Environment."
and here I thought tonight would be awful, Jingles here again to save my sanity
A Magic Forest? Reminds me of a drinking challenge with a glass of beer and peppermint liquor. On the way to the Forest one gulp of beer is drunk and then the glass is refilled. When the glass is all green you successfully arrived in the forest. On your way back you just gulp the green and refill with beer. The rumor has it that nobody came back from the magic forest so far. So now you know what's going on in Murovanka ;)
Aktshually Jingles, i am going to just sit here and enjoy the video!
i quickly checked through all his world of tanks videos in the last 2 years and didnt find a video on the badger
Ace Tanker 9 kills, 9300 damage done all those medals and a WIN....lost money yes thats tier 10 in World of tanks
"We live in a world where 272mm of penetration is considered bad", no one tell him there's ATGMs with over 1400mm of penetration
Not in WoT tho
"there's ATGMs with over 1400mm of penetration"
"Not in WoT tho"
wargaming : "how can we best implement these to milk the cashcow...?"
@@maxmustermann8247 well they made the sheridan ATGMS into crappy HEAT shells so idk
@@cubrakadabra i stopped p(l)aying WoT like 4 years ago so i can't say for sure either.
Jingles I need to sleep
“YOU LET A WHOLE COLUMN GET STALLED AND STRAFED BECAUSE OF A COUPLE JACKASSES!?”
There are some things you never ever type into a search engine.
Thanks Jingles
Actually Jingles, that’s not a lemming train. GTA V has taught us that trains keep moving forward no matter what.
This is more like a Boyscout Camping Trip.
ACTUALLY JINGLES
I didn't google if you've featured the badger yet 🤣
Thanks Jingles.
The scouting Maus is amazing! More people need this but at tier VI; you know, that tank.... that needs no other introductions
AcTuAlLy jingles the magic forest was remodeled before the 1.0 update
"Look, if we built this large wooden badger . . ."
*CLANK*
Haven't seen this tank in forever
Jingles seems to left out a bit. Badger players were coming from the tortoise, which had a different armor profile and got a super heavy spall liner, while the badger could only get a heavy spall liner. Recent changes have negated the spall liner difference but at the time it was added to the tech tree, that was an important difference for a tank that was guaranteed to draw major arty fire. It also didn't help that the Badger relied on "effective" armor rating that went out the window when your enemy got any kind of height advantage. So there were a few more reasons it was not well received.
I love these epic comebacks!
Jingles, you DO realize that a sweaty badger is also a STINKY badger?!? ;^}
Just here to remind you ppl that the obj 705a has an upper plate which can, when not angled, bounce ONLY half of all known tier X gold rounds 😂
Well that's trash. Buff it.
@@able_archer01 Sure thing comrade, in Soviet Russia we always need buff.
Actually Jingles, it was 25 seconds they had to google that info
it looks like a british stug
Now that was fun to watch. GG Placebo
Oh wow. Thought it was going to be an unhappy ending
and lost 15k credits, no justice
sure there is, spamming premium ammo at lower tier tanks to purchase the win. No one in their right mind would want that to make a profit.
is that the AC sounding in the background ey? ;D Sweaty Jingles!
Now THAT was a good game!
Thanks J Man :)
The enemy team would've won 10 minutes ago if they only capped. Another battle decided by "no cap kill all"
Never understood why wargaming thought it was a good idea to make shot indicators so accurate and added the name of the tank who shot.
Was the Badger the result of some British engineers looking at the Jadgpanther and saying "We'll have us some of that?"
for those looking to join the salt mines discord server, the one where our overlord is the ruler of, I would recommend against it, the staff are toxic and encourage the spread of it and personal attacks are rampant, thanks for reading the warning
gold. . . the reason i quit tanks all those years ago, "thats a cute e100, oh your angling? gold ammo"
Impressive work!
You will notice the Russian math at the end of the game reads -15584 but it should actually be -43555.
I completely forgot about the "Magic Forest"
It's definitely a lot better now than before. In the past if you got spotted you were basically a goner.
You know jingles is out of shape, when he sweats from using Google
It's nervous sweating due to his search history
" Lemming Train " a rare thing in today's great game. Nah, kidding... Certain loose material.
If 11 tanks push all at once, they would destroy everything in their path.
"surrounded on three sides"???? By definition there is one side still open.
Badgers? Don't got no Badgers. Don't need no Steeenkin' Badgers.
as somebody who tried to three mark the grille 15, i can confidently say that 270-280 pen on t10 tds is not nearly enough, the amount of times that thing bounces is a miracle, and the second-best accuracy in the game means nothing because its a german gun so it hit outside the aiming circle half of the time, and the heat just gets eaten up by spaced armor as intended, apcr would make a far better gold ammo for it.
Actually Jingles, it’s more fun when you figure it out on your own.
@jingles, Please take the Badger on a Gnomearion run. It has to be possible by now.
Did Jingles just assume I have an independent mind?
After the first 8 minutes I thought you just chose this replay so you can talk about the Badger ... boy was I wrong.
All this and he STILL lost 15.5k credits.
And still lost 15k credits. Oh wot don’t ever change
It has occurred to me, that in many great battles, the star of the show more often than not just moves 50-150 meters from the spawn and doesnt really move around that much...
Interesting..
Epic ending, but surely all badger drivers should be called Roadkill...
Only if they get ram killed
Actually Jingles ... I could be bothered.
Sweaty badger zounds like a monty pyhton insult
is it an option to show actual hp numbers at the top? all i get is just the hp bar.
