    9:07 That IS-7 is a bit of a rockstar as well: sees Dave's tracks got blown off, moves in front of him and gently nudges him back into cover.

      @TrangleC 2 года назад +79

      Yeah, that is rare. and I learned why. Behavior like that is usually not just not rewarded, but often not even noticed or even misunderstood.
      I was one of those dumb "team players" through most of my career as a WoT player and it really didn't pay off.
      I often sacrificed myself to help the team and all it really did was to hinder my progress with the stats.
      The best example is the following:
      I was playing a turretless tier 6 tank destroyer in a tier 7 battle.
      There were only 3 guys on our weak flank and I was one of them. The others were some medium and one T29.
      Then most of the enemy heavies showed up on our flank unexpectedly.
      We 3 guys tried to hold them off, but the medium tank soon died and we other 2 guys were reduced to half health. The T29 was standing around out in the open and had no cover, so I decided that the only way to hold that flank a little longer was for me to sacrifice myself and put the T29 into a better position.
      I left my own cover and drove out in front of the T29, shielding his hull with my tank, so he would be hull down behind me. I mentioned that I drove a turretless TD at the time, to point out that I could not shoot at the enemy anymore, standing perpendicular in front of the T29, which is relevant because it ought to have made very clear to the guy what I was doing.
      Of course I got killed, but now the T29 was hull down and would have been in a great position to hold that flank.
      And what does the idiot do? As soon as I am dead, he turns around, tries to run away and gets killed by being shot in the back.
      Sorry about the long story, but I wanted to give a anecdote for what happens when you try being a team player in this game.
      I was no Unicum but a bunch of players I played with said that I was on my way to becoming one and I held my own in one on one fights against Unicums I met in battle.
      Once I had ground through most of the shitty low tier tanks and started unlocking the first good mid- and higher tier medium tanks, my stats improved rapidly. I also had enough of being the nice team player sucker.
      I started playing the Unicum play style, seeing the enemies as prey, not as opponents and using my own team mates as bait, not relying on them doing anything useful.
      My WN8 rating, which had been climbing slowly but steadily till then, suddenly shot up at a steep angle and I was able to turn green after about 5000 battles played, which apparently is unusual. I think Jingles said most players need 15 000 to 20 000 battles to slowly become proficient.
      I'm not telling you this to brag. I just want to point out that this game kind of requires you to be a selfish asshole if you want to be good.
      I quit after playing around 6000 battles. I didn't like what the game was doing to me. The better I got, the better my stats got, the more I had to lose and the more angry I got when I had really stupid or inept team mates. I started berating people in chat and became a belligerent, rude asshole. I couldn't control my adrenaline. I got good results and grew used to carrying teams, but I didn't have fun doing it and was consumed by hate.
      hehehe
      Then I did the same thing Jingles did. I switched to playing "Armored Warfare" and became a PvE pussy.

      @@TrangleC Yeah, I think it is hard to find the right balance between being a good team member and watch your own progress. The T29 in your example was doomed I think, you could have used the time it took him to die to run away into a better position.
      It is about noticing the opportunities to be able to save allies without damaging your own and the team's performance imo. Because when we look at the T 29 example maybe you could have carried your team later if you escaped into a better position.
      What the IS7 in this video did was a good example of how to do it, but I'm not even sure if he did it on purpose and "Dave" was in cover already. The intention matters though.

      @@TrangleC The number one rule of pub matches is to go with the lemmings, they're clearly idiots that will need your help. Never be one of few trying to hold the weak flank, you'll just be the first one dead. And never lead the lemmings, no, stay behind them or in the middle of the pack, keeping them alive a little longer while you farm damage from safety. The other reason you want to stay towards the back of the lemmings, is that you're the one that's going to rush back to reset cap when the weak flank gets steamrolled, just hopefully by that point you've done enough damage that the lemmings don't fully collapse and also get steamrolled when you vacate back to cap....

    The artillery getting screwed on experience is no surprise. Since 100% of their damage is indirect, the XP penalty is steep. It’s one of the several reasons that after 7 years, I walked away from the game.
    I feel the XP penalty is one reason why a lot of my former partners playing Artillery weren’t always focused on what’s best for the team, and instead focused on harvesting the max number HP. So many times I’ve seen players pass on removing a gun by splashing a low hp “hidden” tank, and instead going after a higher-health tank that they had no chance of killing.
    Even though I don’t play anymore, I still enjoy watching. I’m just not giving WG any more of my money or time. Instead I’ve taken that time to teach my wife of 30 years how to play video games, and we’ve been exploring Azeroth together. Maybe we’ll run visit the salt mines someday. As always, Thanks for videos Jingles.

      To be fair, the Japanese lines weren't really 'the odd lemon' back then. They were more citrus than tank. The heavy line was utter crap until T5 (admittedly, they got pretty damn disgusting from that point onwards), the medium line didn't get better than meh until T8 (and that was a horrendous stock grind) and the light mini-line didn't exactly have standout tanks either.

    Remember the old days of WoT version pre 1.0 when SPG's and TD's had this? (Pepperidge Farms Remembers)
    They took it off the TD's and left it on the SPG's back during the first "Major TD buff" (this was after the E-25 was introduced)

    Tank design of the Leopard 1 can be traced to the first three layers of the onion: don't be seen, acquired, hit. The Soviets by contrast ignored everything up until don't get penetrated. They then ignored the subsequent layer of 'don't be destroyed/killed' as well, because yknow... exposed ammo racks.

    I actually enjoyed the Chi-Ri - played it aggressive, usually, but it did surprisingly well with that chump little 3 shot autoloader. Pulled off some amazing games with the thing, three or four Aces while researching through it.
    And 'close shave' de-caps, I've gotten one when it went 0.0 and 'flashed' just as I popped the capper. That was with my G1B, though.

    On console the chi ri was one of my best tanks to grind through...don't know why so many dislike it...oddly enough I actually haven't played the PC variant only because I don't own a PC or laptop

    • @BillMcD
      @BillMcD 2 года назад

      well thats the reason. there are significant differences between the PC and console versions of world of tanks. Namely, everything in PC WoT has been power crept either by the newest vehicles or by the most expensive vehicles.

      It's funny that sir Foch kinda liked the Chi-Ri despite him memeing it.

  • @drakko26
    @drakko26 2 года назад +4

    Well the Chi-Ri is...shit. But...the good thing about that shitty autoloader is the fact that it reloads faster than the IS with the same (potential) alpha dmg. Oh and the in-clip reload is very good.
    Also, back in the day, it could mount a rammer with the autoloader. Not sure if it still can.

    • @nickq8093
      @nickq8093 2 года назад +5

      still can, and yeah, the chi-ri isn't suited to being a dpm machine with the non-autoloading gun. it's faaaaar more effective with what's essentially a worse pen better but far better gun handling 122mm.

    • @drakko26
      @drakko26 2 года назад +2

      @@nickq8093 glad to hear but aye, the autoloader is good for one thing only: pop out of cover, slam a fat ~390 in some unsuspecting sod's arse or flank and gtfo!
      Bit about the comparison with the IS was that, for essentially the same dmg output, the Chi-Ri reloads in about 7-8 seconds as opposed to the IS' 11ish(?). The overall dpm is still crap.

    If you read the numbers as letters
    The Unusual "a1l2e3x4"
    turns into
    The Unusual "allzeexa"
    Where every second character is replaced with a number representing it.

    But it IS still used today.

    WG really has to fix the exp mechanic it really makes no sense that an idiot in bourasque who goes and dies after firing one mag to get the same exp per shot as a guy who fight last 4-5 enemy alone, it should be according to the game time and enemy to allies ratio or at least make it a point based and not dmg based

    The chi Ri is a pure support tank. Works great in that role. By highest damage battle in the chi ri, with the autoloader was a 3,3k damage on Malinovka. Also had a 52,3% but that was 5 years ago, maybe 6.
    checked the WR for the last 60 days for the tier 7 mediums, the Chi Ri has a semi respectable win rate of 48.64% But what is really unexpected is the fact that it is AHEAD of tanks like T34/100, T43, the Panther or the comet!!!
