      +AngloLatino People lived west of the Appalachians. In fact, one of the things that upset the colonists was the Proclamation of 1763, in which living west of those mountains was banned and anyone living there was forced to move east.

      They were claimed for business purposes. Since large-scale private companies for the most part didn't exist, those claims were meant to protect the government's fur traders and gold miners in the area, instead of settlers. Essentially, by claiming land in the western half of North America, the imperial governments were not saying "This land belongs to our people," but rather: "Only our companies can do business here." That's what mercantilism was about back then.

    ARW is taught in many classrooms by Modern “state names,” and not actual State geographical shape in the specific time, leading to much confusion for me who LOVES Geography!! As a Mississippian, I thought my State played no role in the Revolution, but we were actually part of Georgia for part of the Revolution, and important even leading up to the War of 1812.
    Geography is SO IMPORTANT to understanding out past, and what is now, because of our past!
    Every patch of land all the way to the MS River was applicable in the ARW, and this video did a fine lesson on that matter of showing this.
    State’s changed shapes for many many years!!!

      anti brony master race. What I just said was not an opinion. It is an historical fact that even George Washington admitted.
      These British rebels could not face the whole British Empire on their own.

    • @edwardkenway7312
      @edwardkenway7312 6 лет назад

    • @edwardkenway7312
      @edwardkenway7312 6 лет назад

      anti brony master race. Yes, because they were still British men nonetheless, and they wouldn't of been born there had their forefathers not colonised it.
      They owed their lives (and existence) to the Empire, and by defying them, they defied their own ancestors, forefathers and heritage, so therefore are traitors.

    • @edwardkenway7312
      @edwardkenway7312 6 лет назад

      anti brony master race. Comparing a chick to leaving a nest to colonials betraying their own country is the most retarded metaphor I have ever heard.
      These men started a new life because of the Empire, so they owe allegiance to the Empire. Simple.

The reason is that France took the honors simply because they no longer had possessions in North America and could no longer be an enemy in the future. Spain possessed the other half of the territory of the future USA and although they were allies in this war wise that if quwerian to expand in a future would be an uncomfortable pottage in the doors of house.

      not really

    • @briansheehan3430
      @briansheehan3430 5 лет назад +2

      Not at all:
      - Insurgency in 13 colonies.
      - War against the French Monarchy.
      - War against the Spanish Empire.
      - War against the Dutch Republic.
      - Only allies are some native American tribes, some loyal British colonists, and hired Hessian mercenaries.
      The Royal Navy was the backbone of the Empire, and Washington allowed the Regulars to control the coast, where their Navy could support them, while denying them the interior and the countryside.
      Washington lost most of the battles, but he was always able to conduct a skillful and organized retreat each time, and denied the regulars a decisive victory by remaining a moving target.
      Britain had a lot on their plate, and was itself not entirely united in support of the several wars it was engaged in.

    As an American, I have to give the Brits their due.
    They not only were against the Revolution in the 13 colonies, but also against France which entered after the victory at Saratoga, and the Spanish Empire which entered as an ally of France, while the only allies Britain had were some native American-Indian tribes, some loyal Tories, and the Hessian mercenaries.
    However...
    The Patriots introduced a new style of warfare that took the Brits by surprise, guerrilla warfare, taking away the rules of conventional European style warfare.
    The Patriots would target Indian scouts and take away the regulars' knowledge of the terrain.
    They targeted Officers, to force disorganization, and Washington, though losing almost every battle, never allowed himself to be decisively defeated, even after the British took New York and Philadelphia. He remained a moving target that harassed the British more than outright fought them.
    Washington also had an immensely successful spy ring operating out of British-controlled Long Island.
    Washington may have been a relatively poor tactician, but he was a decent strategist. He allowed the Brits to control the coasts where the Royal Navy could support them, but denied them the countryside in the interior. Fighting campaigns of attrition and gradually wearing them down. The same "Fabian Strategy" that the Romans successfully used to wear down Hannibal, before he was decisively defeated by Scipio Africanvs.

    According to myth, the rebels were simply supposed to stir up the hornet's nest, for the king to take notice. The little peons weren't supposed to win. But the spirit of liberty (and what appeared to be a gift of a fair amount of gold from descendants of displaced Israelites) put a "wild card" into the game. That gold helped the rebels to obtain weapons and materials which tipped the scale to victory. About 150 years later descendants of the rebels (which officially became the new superpower), helped descendants of the benefactors to get their nation back.

    "Patriots and Allies" should read "Rebels and Allies", or "traitors and allies". The war should never have happened. Britain was listening to colonial concerns and trying to address them. They offered representation, but nothing satisfied the rebels. Canadians were happy remaining loyal to the Empire. Britain could have crushed the rebellion if their hearts were in it, as rebels only accounted for 40% of the colonies one million population, at a time London, alone, had almost one million. The Anglo-sphere is family, and family should stick together.

    • @superkiwistar
      @superkiwistar 7 лет назад +2

      britain had become too weakened from unnecessary involvement in two world wars to maintain its empire. far from the champion of the british empire, churchill was instrumental in its tragic downfall. had the anglosphere played its cards right, they could have waited out the war, until both sides were exhausted, and then swept from the atlantic to the pacific, bringing peace and democracy to the world. such a pity the british empire never achieved its full potential. furthermore, britain was on a path to complete self-destruction, until brexit. sad. just sad.

    • @IdesofMarch223
      @IdesofMarch223 7 лет назад +25

      superkiwistar Colonists were tired of their so called "sovereign" being a thousand miles away and dictating what was best for them, subjects who more likely than not have not had family on the Isles on generations. Of course they revolted, they got tired of fighting and paying for the British Empire's wars.

    • @superkiwistar
      @superkiwistar 7 лет назад +1

      yep. britain should have absorbed the cost of war better. they gave in to many of the demands, and allowed representation, but americans would not see reason. there are trade benefits to being part of a greater empire. 20% of americans wanted to remain british, and 40% couldn't care either way. pity they didn't stick together. it would have formed a great empire. on the plus side, it motivated britain to colonise australia and the south pacific instead, so the anglo-saxon influence continued to spread.

    • @superkiwistar
      @superkiwistar 7 лет назад +1

      and btw ... australia and new zealand are further from britain. yet, they remain loyal, with a union jack in the corner of the flag, and the queen on the currency.

    • @IdesofMarch223
      @IdesofMarch223 7 лет назад +6

      Yes, and that is all well and good for them, but you're defending imperialism now. Empire's were great for those at the top, not so much for common subjects. Americans did not see themselves as British, even many loyalists saw themselves as "Americans" who supported the British crown. Remaining loyal to a figurehead isn't something to gloat about, and I am sure Americans would rather have their own flag without the union jack, than to be considered a subject of a dead empire that was consumed by greed.

      Victor Fernandez where would america be if we were still part of the British Empire? I would imagine we would have gone to war with them when The UK declared war on Germany. But then we'd be living in a completely alternate reality and who knows how history would have gone if the Revolutionary War never would have happened. The French Revolutions in the early 1800s probably wouldn't have happened and Napolean probably wouldn't have taken over Europe. We probably wouldn't have found the Rosetta Stone being able to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphs, who knows wtf would have happened.
