RC cars are toys. That said, as an adult, toys come in all shapes and sizes. A boat can be considered a toy, along with a 4-wheeler, fishing rod and reel, etc. The stigma of being "an adult playing with toys" is lost on me. I enjoy it and it's way less expensive than wrenching on my personal vehicle, along with being much safer, as I'm not actually riding in the vehicle I'm driving. It's a hobby, ignore the stigma, and Happy RCing!
I feel like I didn't explain what I truly meant very well. So I agree with you, essentially they are toys, but they are hobby grade. My whole reasoning behind it driving me nuts is because non RC hobby people think RC is all the same. My son has gotten a lot of RCs that are toy grade and when he breaks them (every single time) I cannot fix them and then I have a tantrum and tears on my hands. I'd rather him have something that is fixable and upgrade worthy. So I probably should have explained myself better but I hope this clears up what I meant. I was just trying to say a target RC is not the same as a Traxxas RC. 😊 Thats really what it boils down to though isn't it. People just need to enjoy what they do and leave others alone. Just like with any other hobby, it has some bad apples. 😊
@@RCprincess24 agreed 110%. My whole point was that I don't care what others think, I just do this cause it makes me happy, settles my brain down a bit, and points me in another direction when life gets the better of me sometimes.
@@CajunManNick1980 Totally spot on! That is the main thing I try to get across on my channel is this hobby is for anyone who wants to be apart of it and we have no tolerance for arrogant know it alls. It is better to bring everyone up then push people down. I love your theory 100%! 😊
All so true! I started when I was kid around 50 years ago. All I knew was toys. Then found hobby shop!! Still drivin' it's only gotten better! And will do so I think. Keep it up!
I feel if more rc enthusiasts go out and help kids learn about hobby grade rc cars more kids will get involved, the problem is the cost of repairs on a hobby grade rc most parents won’t spend the money for kids to enjoy the hobby to it fullest. That’s why we see more adults in the hobby. And like you your dad got you hooked later in life 👍
Totally agree, but it beats having to buy a whole other RC when the toy version breaks and it will. I cannot count how many toy RC my son has gone through and his TRX4 sport is still standing strong. Nothing has broke on it yet and he really tests it. Thats what parents don't understand. Thank you so much for watching and your support of my channel 🫶
Not long ago I was driving my FCX10 on a trail and a maybe 5 year old boy passed me with his mom. As he walked by he said "Nice toy!" in that instant rather than trying to explain that its not a toy i just enthusiastically said "thanks!" Sometimes you just roll with it. Similarly I own an old hearse and it is annoying when every adult makes ghostbusters references. With kids though it doesnt bother me.
O for sure! I would not have tried to explain it to a little one. Where I am coming from it's more of making a distinction between hobby grade and non hobby grade. Yes they are 100% adult toys but as long as people understand there is two different types of "toys" then its all good in my book. Thank you so much for watching and supporting this channel! 😊
RC vehicles are in fact toys, these happen to be geared more towards adults and older kids. You had a few points in this video where people generalised things like “all RC cars are the same”. Well not all toys are for kids. All I’m trying to say is, don’t be offended if someone says your RC vehicle a toy. You do play with them. Just so it’s clear I’m not trolling you. I collect stuff that reminds me of my childhood, which includes some toys. In that community people get all twisted up when someone calls an action figure a doll, or an expensive figure that does all the same stuff as the ones you buy at Target do, a toy and not an adult collectible. Don’t sweat the verbiage, not everyone will understand your hobby or why you get so much enjoyment from it. Just a different perspective. Great vid. The RC hobby has recently caught my eye. Subbed and I’m looking forward to checking out the rest of your content.
So it has become clear to me from numerous comments I have received, people seem to be stuck on this "its not a toy" myth which makes me believe I did not explain myself well enough if at all. So here is my side to why I said what I said. When someone buys my son an RC and that RC is from target or Walmart or wherever (not hobby grade) and he breaks that "RC" I cannot fix it. There is no store that I can go into and be like I need a new part for this $50 monster truck. There are people who think non hobby grade and hobby grade are the same. So when that RC breaks and I cannot fix it, I am stuck with one very upset and unhappy child. While I appreciate that person thinking about my son and purchasing the RC for him, it does not end well for anyone. So while I agree with you 100% they are toys for adults, I would like to try to find a word that can separate the two. I have no problem with judgement, I really truly do what makes me happy and couldn't care less about what others have to say. "O my, a grown woman playing with a toy" nope doesn't bother me one bit, it's when people think hobby grade and non hobby grade are the same thing. Thats where I have the problem. I am sorry for the confusion, I did not make myself clear on what I meant because yes, essentially they are toys for adults. I hope that makes sense of where I was coming from. 😊 And thank you so much for joining this awesome community we have here on my channel. Lots of great, helpful, wonderful people in the comments. In no way did I find your comment offensive or as trolling. Again, thank you and I hope you have a great time in this amazing hobby! 🫶
I agree that R/C cars are not just for men or kids. I have bought my wife two Tamiya cars, a Mercedes and a VW Golf. Both of those cars are very fast on just a silver can motor. I also got her a Team Associated Enduro. This is a slow crawler truck. She will not do any wrenching. She will just drive. I also got my kids some fast cars and some crawlers too. For us right now, we can have a family day just driving our crawling trucks. They are slow and fun to drive. One of our best family days is when we went to "Corona Del Mar". We do not live there. We drive for about 2 to maybe 3 hours just to get there and just drive our R/C trucks right on the beach. My wife has said how beautiful this place is. We found this place because of RUclips. Take a look and I think you will see what I am talking about. I am just happy we can spend time as a family and also have a good time driving out R/C cars too. Thoughts?
It is so awesome when it can be a family event together! Love those days 😊 I personally have never been to California, but that place you reference looks amazing! I would love to get there one day and see it! Also, very nice choice in rigs. I am glad that it works out for you to be a family activity! Thank you so much for watching and supporting my channel 🫶
They got them for all prices from less than a $100 to $1000 s of dollars . 3s arrmas and 4s arrmas are dope and 6s for sure and up is a where it gets good 👍.
O yes for sure! I was just using a general price range. I personally do not own any RCs under $100 but I know they are out there. 24th scale is about as micro as I wish to go for me personally. 😊
I'd like to clear up what I meant because I don't feel like I did a good job explaining that one. Yes, essentially they are toys, however, they are hobby grade which means if something breaks you can easily get a part to fix it and it's up and running again. It drives me nuts when someone buys my son a toy RC and then he breaks it, (every time) and I have to deal with the tears and frustration because I cannot fix It for him. There is no store that sells parts for a toy grade RC. So yes still toys but hobby grade.
Cop sees me testing my rc, and comes over to inform me, I cant drive my VEHICLE here in the park (my reply - its not a vehicle by state law, and no one is around) Cops says "hitdosentmatter" anything with a motor is not allowed, do you want to be trespassed. 😪#its_not_a_vehicle
RC's are not dangerous followed by I ran myself over and it really hurt 😂.... I took myself out with my Redcat vigilante 🙄🤦 it hurt, not just physically but emotionally 😂.
Hey, I said in the right hands they aren't dangerous! I never said my hands were safe 😂 Yes, the emotional damage is real 😭 Thank you so much for watching! 😊
The whole toys debate is eh. The way I see it, they are toys. These are just the adult version. Them being toys isn’t a bad thing. I love my xrt with the max5 g2 5690 combo powering it, I like to call it the xrbeast, but in the same breath I’ll call it the $1500 toy. Just like motorcycles are toys to many

7:06 a crawler putting around safe, a 1/8 6s truck in the hands of a lunatic super dangerous, so yeah, depends on the model and person
For sure! 😊
I love your Arrma Fireteam story. Been there, done that with a Axial Yeti 4X4 Momba beast.
Not my proudest moment 😂

is it a Myth that the 1st question a random person will ask you about your RC car is - how fast dose it go, not a Myth lol
Nope, that is accurate 100% 😂

I know! It’s very hard to wrap my head around because to most, it’s not a vehicle but it does indeed have a motor 😵💫 it’s a very grey area! 🤷♀️
