I know this is an old video, but I found that apart from Stranglethorn Vale, Duskwallow Marsh (Horde at least) have a lot of quests. The low level quests will grant full experience up to level 40. I did all of duskwallow marsh quests (except the amulet quest) together and it was part of my quickest zones to complete with a ton of exp.
In the mine in Hillsbrad i started at 27 was too slow at the farm. But at 28 i started pulling 5 to 8 mobs and Aoe em to death and usually finish with cone of cold and a few arcane blast. Just hit 30 in under 7 hours play time.

And with the aoe cap I'm sure a bunch people rather level a mage then boost after tbc, Or learn the flame strike method.

Shimmering flats is pretty good (and often empty) at these levels iirc. Churning out some quests with croc packs and even some bugs.

Wondering how you organise your alts? Do you have mage on one account and alts on another in order to be able to boost your own chars?

Impossible to hit 30 under 7 hrs on x1 rates
what do you do after 36?
